After a long time a Great Western Railway Castle Class is back on the South Devon Main Line. On 10th and 11th May 2024 7029 'Clun Castle" hauls the 'The Great Western Railway' excursion train from Bristol to Plymouth and back to London Paddington, organised by rail operator Vintage Trains.
We see the outward journey at Dainton Tunnel. The train reached the summit with a speed of 9 mph.
On the return journey, Clun Castle stalls on Hemerdon Bank. After the diesel locomotive came to assist and the train continued on its journey, we next see the train on Wellington Bank. Finally, we see the train, again without the assistance of the diesel locomotive, at Box Middle Hill tunnel.
