Given the length of the series, honestly surprised no one has attempted to turn them in a TV or streaming series. There's certainly enough material to work with. Though, as all the film adaptations prove, finding enough return on investment to keep going is the problem, even with the bible thumpers getting in their obligatory viewings.

I remember some in my Church youth group showed us this, and after it was finished, one of the adults stood up and had a little talk about how this was all just a movie, no one should be scared that this was how things were going to work out. I always respected them for that.

To be fair, they probably wouldn’t have been able to afford to adapt the later books as those start entering Shin Megami Tensei territory with full on demons showing up and granting the bad guys magic powers (there’s even points that imply Nicolae’s top followers cross breed with demons).

This feels like what you'd get if you took all of John Carpenter's movies, cut out all the mood, suspense, and action scenes, then stitched together all the short, clunky asides where people in underlit rooms say plot points at each other, stare at computer monitors, or make melodramatic phone calls, then tried to pass that convoluted parade of unrelated scenes from twenty different films as a movie.

People might like things he was in, but that doesn't mean they were great or successful. I'll occasionally watch Jaws 3D since I have the ability to watch it the way it was meant to be seen, but I wouldn't ever call it good...Iron Eagle was OK at best and then he felt the need to do the like 3 sequels that followed.

So this film is made by people who believe in heaven, FOR people who believe in heaven. In the fiction of the film, the rapture has occurred and there is pretty much definitive proof that the Christians were right the entire time. And yet, finding an antidote to save Chloe comes off as a victory at the end. Why? Wasn’t she just going to go to heaven? Why would her being sick create any tension for the film’s audience (unless they aren’t as sure about the existence of an afterlife as they claim)?
