Brenda, My mom was the organist at her and my dad’s church, and one Easter Sunday, during the sermon, she was sitting on the organ bench and started to notice tht her dress she was wearing had faded a lot. She said to herself,,,well,, darn. After the service, they went into the church hall for coffee and such, then went home, where she went to change her clothes,,,and lo and behold,,,,she had gone to church with her dress inside out!!

I love the way you always say don’t waste anything. My grandma taught me this also, she lived thru the depression. If she could use her left over vegetables, she would put them in the old cartons milk can in. Then when she made soup she would get her vegetables out of the freezer and use them . I freeze a lot of left over for that reason. God bless you.

I had a neighbor named Madge Touhy, originally from Newfoundland, but resided mainly in New York as an adult then later in California, where I met her. We became fast friends and I’d frequent her house almost daily and she’d feed me soup, cookies or chocolate donuts and tell me funny stories. She was in her 80’s and was quite the character. She was like a second mom or grandma I never was close to. Anyway, she taught me how to not throw things away (the older generations are notorious “preppers” lol) and her soups were so comforting. She loved onions and told me to save the “juice” from the canned vegetables like peas that you use in your soup to use in the broth. That way you wouldn’t have to add extra salt. Smart lady, Madge (rest is paradise).🕊️

Brenda, it matches just fine. Actually looks really nice. I love making leftover clean out the refrigerator soup. I think my favorite thing to do is, if I have leftover burger and plain macaroni, I fry it up and then add scrambled eggs in it. My step-father did this and boy is it yummy. ❤

Your hair looks so adorable in that up-do! Also have had a similarly embarrassing moment, or two, when I wore a navy shoe and a black shoe to school one day. I was a middle school principal right in the middle of disciplining a student when he shouted out that my shoes did not match. Needless to say, the news spread like wildfire, and kids were using any excuse to visit me in my office. It was rather nice to be popular for once.

Brenda, sometimes when you're going to make chili or spaghetti and you're going to cook hamburger meat I put a little water in my pan and then crumble up the hamburger meat in that and then I drain the water and the grease off by putting it through a strainer. I also use crushed tomatoes it's a little smoother instead of having chunks of tomatoes. Try it sometime. ❤

Brenda I went to work one time with my slippers on!!!! Another time I had two identical shoes except one pair olive green and one pair navy blue and went to work once with a nave shoe and olive shoe!! My coworkers got a good laugh and so did I ❤

Grew up around a French family and their Oma was a fantastic soup cook. Also my one and only time eating cow tongue. It was delicious ❤

Remember the movie Sound of Music ? Parents took us to Raleigh, NC where it was being screened for the first time. Dressed in Sunday best . Happened to look at my brother, he had one navy sock and one brown sock. He was undone beyond belief despite socks not seen. Get those color mishaps !

Knor chicken bouillon is what I use in even great northern beans. Add no salt. Delicious flavor!!! Of course with ham, onions and carrots. Yum!

I’ve had an earring come off and forgot to put it back in. When out and about with just one in my ear. Also I have matched my husbands socks black and navy or maybe a brown in the matching. We get to where we were going usually church then that’s when it’s noticed he has in mismatch socks. I haven’t did that for awhile. 😃😁😆

I like to crumble biscuits on top of my soups.

Leftovers make the best for soup. Ive never tried that Knorrs vegetable mix. Ill be sure to look for it. Ive always put a tad bit of butter on split leftover biscuits. Ive gone to church with two different earrings on like your friend.

Once when my children were younger, as we walked through the doors of the church, my daughter and I realized that she had two different tennis shoes on. Well, she was embarrassed and I felt like a terrible Mama for not noticing this before we left home. Once we sat down on the pew, one of her little friends came over to speak and my daughter showed her what she had done. Well, that sweet child, took of her own tennis shoe and traded one with my daughter. Then she said “now you are not the only one here with different shoes on”. I still love that sweet child although that’s been 41 years ago ❤❤

Leftover soup looks delicious except I don't like tomatoes in my soup. I would leave them out and substitute lentils.

I sometimes make hamburger soup.

My mom had a wringer washer when we were little and she had shoes that she wore specifically on wash day. They were beat up rubber soled sneakers. My sister had a doctor appointment one afternoon and Mom had washed clothes that morning. She got herself and my sister ready to go and as they sat in the crowded waiting room, Mom was horrified that she still had on her wash day shoes. She whispered to my sister “oh kathy I forgot to change my old ratty wash day shoes.” She watched my sister looking at everyone’s feet in the crowded waiting room and then loudly announced, “you’re not the only one that wore their wash day shoes.” Mom wanted to die.

We are all human and get in a hurry … God tells us to slow down! I went to a funeral and hadn’t wire these dress shoes in 4 yrs .. Oh my whole bottom fell off as soon as I was in the funeral parlor… I was so embarrassed. My mom did the shoe incident didn’t realize it until she was at work lol
