I will always maintain that if Bird were Black, he would be considered the GOAT. People fans and critics would just say, you can't play basketball better than Larry Bird. When the Sixers acquired Moses Malone to take them to the promised land "fo, fo,fo" Larry the Legend did win one against the juggernaut Sixers everybody else got swept.

Bird was ALWAYS about team play - which I think is also what made him great. It was less about piling up stats than getting the win.

There are so many great players from different eras that it is just about impossible to compare but if I was going to start a team and build around that one player I'd take larry bird. I'd take him over any rookie I've ever seen play and I would take him in his prime. I've seen bird play with great talent, average talent and not so good talent. He's been a winner with all three. It's a team sport guys. Larry bird was great by himself, great with a team and a true leader
