Reviewing my 1-Month old keyboard. The Lenovo SK-8823 USB keyboard with typing sound test vs Thinkpad t490 and G510 Laptop. A cheap keyboard that gets the job done in relative quietness but far, far away from the quality of a Lenovo laptop keyboard.
My New keyboard - Lenovo calliope SK 8823 USB
My old USB keyboard - Genius Slim Star 8008 USB
Compared to a Thinkpad T490 non-backlit keyboard and a G510 one.

Thank you Roby, I was exactly thinking about that, and you answered my exact question about, if it's the same as thinkpads keyboard.

Glad I could help! Sadly, it is so far away from TP quality. I am worried even the more premium wireless version of this KB will disappoint. I noticed that the noise of plastic scraping is because the keycaps are so loose, so as you hit them at an angle, they make this noise. Low quality.

Thanks a lot man! The perfect video I needed! I want to get a keyboard for my ThinkPad and I was convinced this keyboard would be perfect since it's a copy design and should have all the functionalities in the keys 1:1. But damn, what a disappointment this is - the lower quality is acceptable, since it's much cheaper I guess, but the lack of functionality plain sucks as well as the lack of rebound in the buttons..

I felt the same when I bought it. I was like "how bad/different can it be from a thinkpad KB???". I found out "A lot" different :(

Thank you for review on this one. The thing is, they always get loud after a while of use. I typed on A4Tech KV-300H and oh my what a keyboard it was! Unfortunately one day it just stop working, the OS couldn't recognize it. What a shame... I currently typing on a Rapoo 8200p, it was also quiet but then went loud. Not as loud as my Genius SlimStar monster from 2009, but still pretty much audible.

Thanks Brian. I took a look at the A4tech KW. Very nice looking, cheap and low profile. Sounds a bit like a machine gun though, tik tik tik tik... How about the Rapo? Reliable? Stable wireless connection? Good Battery life?
@brianfordhamm2740

@@diyroby732 Yes, but pretty loud presses. Battery life is good, but I use rechargeable ones. Reliable? Yeah. Spilled my tea couple of times, dry clan - good to go. No missed keystrokes. I've been on a hunt for a quiet keyboard. KV-300H is good, but the thing is: it might die one day and you'll never know why. Controller chip I guess. I heard Dell made a good keyboard KB216, but I am more interested in wireless M+KB combos and I read they are garbage on Dell (Premier) and HP (Wireless 200) sets. Hard to wake from power-saving mode, can lose signal quickly... I guess if you want something from a general PC brand (I mean not Genius or Logitech or A4Tech or Razer), buy a wired variant and also buy a USB hub. Good thing to have, especially with laptops.

Great info. Thanks. I am currently using a logitech k540 KB M combo and it is not that bad to type on. Almost no lag and I can switch on the KP and type a letter at the same time and it will register. It is so fast to connect, never a missing typed key. This experience has really changed my mentality on these wireless devices. Key travel is a bit long though and that means, I can't beat the typing speed of my lenovo g510 laptop keyboard.

Thank you for your review. It was very detailed explanation what I wanted to know. Before the click to buy this, I had a doubt whether the feeling of typing is same/similar with ThinkPad or not. Because the feature is very similar in my opinion, but I could know this typing feeling is totally different. Am I understood right?

Yes, this keyboard is very very far away from the feeling of a Thinkpad. But at the price, it is not the worst keyboard out there.

the sound is probably partially caused by hollow plastic case + not sitting flush with the table because of feet, while laptops are pretty densely packed, including the keyboard module itself
@diyroby732
@diyroby732 2 жыл бұрын
The sound comes from the keys being placed in a plastic well and they push down on a rubber dome which then springs them back up. I now have an HP pavilion desktop keyboard and it used the same scissor mechanism like the laptops. It is silent and provides an incredible typing experience. It's all about the money you are willing to pay.

The best typing experience I ever had on a laptop style keyboard was on the Logitech k780. Too bad it is famously unreliable and wireless. I am using the logitech k540 and am suprised as to how good it feels to type on, even though it is not a laptop style keyboard.

Dear sir, since you have trouble with a word, I will assist you, since by your dialect English is not your mother tongue. The word in trouble is "calliope", mispronounced kal-EE-ohp, it is pronounced kah-LIE-oh-pee.

Had no idea what the word was until I got this KB. When in doubt, I always opt for the Euro EE to the US AI pronounciation.
