For years , my primary camera was a leica m9p with a 50 mm Summilux. I added a 21mm 2.8 and was happy as a clam for most of my needs. In the newer high ISO era, I added a leica SL (not the SL2) and in addition to these two lenses that I adapt, I have a 2.8 135 elmarit-R, an 80-200 vario elmar f4 and the macro elmarit 2.8 100. My pictures may occasionally be blurry, but at least they have their own look to them.

I have Voigtlander's 40mm f2 Ultron and 58mm f1.4 Nokton, both the SLIIS versions. Using them on the Z5 is amazing. I got them for the Fujifilm X-T3, but only when I got the Nikon Z5 did I realize how amazing they are. The 28mm f2 Ultron is the next lens on the list. I'm considering only getting Voigtlander lenses. They have an amazing rendering, both tones, resolution, and the colors.

I have a Voightlander 21mm in EOS mount with built in aperture communication. I also use an M mount 28mm f5.6 on Lumix and panasonic bodies.

One of my favorite shooting experiences was with my Asahi Pentax Super Takumar 50mm f/1.4 lens on my Canon 5D Mark II with Magic Lantern installed as the firmware. Something about that manual lens on a body with focus peaking and RAW video support just made me love it as a combination. I no longer have the camera, but I do still have that lens to occasionally play with.

Two things: 1, Recently heard from Matt Osbourne's channel that the Lumix S5 will read the focal length from 6-bit codes of Leica lenses when used with the official M-T/L adaptor. This should mean that the IBIS is informed and that LR etc will register the focal length. Some people encode their Zeiss and other M lenses with equivalent codes btw. Leica clarified that adaptors are outside the L-mount standards so it's unclear if the Sigma fp will do this, too. 2, You should test the recently announced VM28. Stephen Gandy may have them by now.

The 28 in this video is the non-aspherical version- I had this lens and was excellent on the Leica film cameras but on the digital Leicas it had focus shift and was a little soft on the frame edges. I also have the new aspherical 28 f2 ultron black paint version and this lens behaves like an APO lens. Edge to edge sharp at all apertures and no focus shift when switching from high to low aperture- perfect lens for Astro photography

Yes I own this lens; its the prime lens for my APSc Leica T. It's very good and makes a good kit with my Leica 18-56 Vario-Elmar-T adding a 40mm f2 eqivalent standard prime. Incidentally I use M mount a lot as it saves me money. For every lens type I own I buy an M adapter. And for every camera type body I buy I get a M adapter. So each camera only needs one adapter to take all lenses. Mostly I use Nikon AF-D primes adapted to M and then on to my Sony and L mount bodies with their M adaptor ;-)

Just bought the Voigtländer APO 35 2.0 for the CL. Colours, sharpness, lack of CA are wonderfull. Really happy with this choice.

Love your concept of scrambling and off-balance to keep creativity alive. I've found it keeps photography exciting and stimulating. You asked for how your viewers stay "off-balance" and disrupted. This may end up sounding convoluted; but as if the pandemic and its social distancing didn't keep things sufficiently off-balance, beginning last spring, I found some needed serenity and artistic satisfaction in seeking out nature's beauty nearby in my areas's sometimes-unassuming (but still lovely) regional parks - or even my neighbor's flowerbeds, trees, and shrubs ;-) The "off-balance" part has often entailed the use of some much loved, newly acquired manual focus M42 lenses, whether classic Takumars or Soviet-era Helios or Carl Zeiss Jena or similar optics via adapters on my Canon DSLRs, both full-frame and crop sensor. As you pointed out, it slows down the process, makes it more deliberative, and the results often more satisfying, as they require a bit more "work.". There's also the "comfort food" element that comes from going back to one's photographic roots and staying in touch with the processes one HAD to master back then. Oh, yes, part of that "therapy" has also included the tactile delights of smooth nicely damped long-throw focusing rings and solid metal construction of these eras, as well as shooting film through those same lenses, as well as newer optics. No plans of stopping that either... Just one disrupted, off-balanced photog's 2 cents. ;-) As always, thanks, Leigh, for your thoughtful and engaging presentations.

Shooting 35mm, 120 and 4x5 film keeps me on my toes. That 28mm Ultron is a great lens, I don't use mine enough.

The Voigtlander 28mm ultron was also my first voigtlander lens. I wasn’t a huge fan of it when I first started out. 28mm wasn’t a focal length I used much. It’s fairly heavy for its size and it’s pretty noticeable sticking from the camera. I ended up getting the Voigtlander 35mm Nokton shortly after from a friend. And I vastly liked the focal length and character from that lens a lot more. I’ve since added the Ricoh GR 28mm LTM lens and have enjoyed that due to its extremely compact size. And every though it only has a maximum aperture of 2.8 I think it is very comparable to the voigtlander ultron.

Lovely video. Somehow, I feel something similar. I recently bought a Voigtlander 28/2.8 in F-mount and use it both on D850 and Sony A7r4 body. I have a wide range of lenses from 10mm to 300mm and this 28mm one is the latest one. Seems like this is the sweet spot I was missing. It really captures the scene as I see the world around me. Moreover, this particular lens goes from landscape, to street, suprisingly good at portraits and even closeups (at 15cm MFD). Indeed, it force me to slow down a bit that helps composing my shots better.

Voigtlander makes native e-mount lenses too. They pass along EXIF data, are quite fun, and the APO's are super super sharp.

There's a big quality difference between E mount & M mount I own both & can clearly notice M mount is way superior to E mount in terms of image & build quality

Infinity focus at Infinity is nice, but often it depends on the individual lens sample. Some have the skill to adjust this which may be easier with certain designs. But I agree, on a freezing night having to warm my sensor on live view to hit focus can be more than annoying. Anyway love the vid, keep it going.

0:27 You don't need to go to art school to know that sticking a 28mm lens on a camera isn't 'disruption' and 'creative'... This is someone who wants to APPEAR to be creative and disruptive but has actually no idea about how to actually be that.
