I don't think many people understand exactly how hard it is to play this song the way that he does. It is very difficult just playing the song itself but to add the motions and extra stuff he adds is crazy.

I don't think people understand how hard it is to play that instrument in general ... it's not your basic guitar or bass that's for sure.

That was my old dad's favourite song, he was always singing it, and I still remember all the words. My dad been dead almost 30 years and I'm 75.

I love KZfaq for this type of stuff. You'd never see the likes on today's celebrity obsessed tv because it's not trendy enough or it wouldn't make enough money. But to me we're the ones losing out as stuff like this is priceless.

I have never been so inspired by an instrument like I have been of late by the banjo. I started learning how to play about 30 years ago; but that was pretty short lived as, my step mother-who was also learning to play-was getting quite discouraged by my progress as compared to hers. I have recently taken it up again and I am thoroughly excited by it.

Just spent $400 to have my Pappy’s mantle clock repaired. The ticking of it brings me great comfort. I could have bought a nicer one online but it’s definitely the sentimental value. Thank you for sharing.

56 years ago we sang this in most weekly music lessons in secondary school, I can still remember most of the words too. In England, it's 'My grandfather's clock'.

God I remember being in Year 5 (17 years ago, I'm 26 this July, god I'm getting old) my teacher on his piano playing this song and us singing along to it. This song has stuck with me for more than a decade and a half and I love it still cos of the memories of my childhood.
