It might actually be better if instead of being drunk, 1 alive Skutter instead learns false information. That way they are still learning something, even if it's less useful

Agreed. If Skutters learn arbitrary information on one alive, they might as well not wake at all

Minor feedback on ability wordings: Paranoia has a full stop before “they die”, and Vindaloo beast has a comma. Both should be colons (at least this is how it’s done in the base game) I think Confidence has that the word “neighbour” is redundant/comfusing in the wording. Or maybe I have mis understood and instead it’s the word “nearest” that is redundant/confusing. In either case, e.g. “NEAREST townsfolk NEIGHBOUR who is clockwise” clearly has redundancy.

Also, clocktower usually uses the spelling "neighbor" (No Dashii, Vigormortis)

rimmer not informing the person and effectively making them lose their ability would suck, but it's also perfect, because you know what also sucks? being rimmer, it's just soooo thematic. also creates the interesting puzzle when your ability doesn't work to find out why.

You could also potentially make the original Rimmer be essentially a Drunk as well and lose the madness component

In the Legion episode of Red Dwarf, the character Legion is made up of the crew members psyches basically and can only be "killed" when they are majority dead or knocked out.

I know nothing about Red Dwarf, but I do simply love that this enables this script, wich enables conversations like 'If anyone asks, I told you I was Jesus.' and have it make sense and not make that person crazy. Also people claiming to be things like Vending Machine, Talky Toaster and Suitcase. Or, like, Despair Squid. If anything, having zero context for these things might make it better.

Love watching the cogs turn as JC tentatively constructs an outlandish world that happens to also be entirely correct. Either team could win at that point, but I never would have thought all that info would come out before the grim reveal, very impressive!

My attempt at rewording the Skutter to be easier to understand: Skutter (Townsfolk): Each night*, Skutters wake together, choose a player, and all learn 1 character for each living Skutter, 1 of which is correct. If you are the only living Skutter, you are Drunk. [+1 to +3 Skutters, one Skutter might be evil]

I thought of something similar, but with a different start. My version was "Each night*, wake with the other Skutters and choose a player. You learn a number of characters equal to the number of living Skutters, one of which is the chosen players character. If you are the only living Skutter you are drunk. [+1 to +3 Skutters, one Skutter might be evil]" It's also worth noting that it's not quite mechanically identical to how Skutters currently work. Since in the new wording no Skutter is drunk as long as there is more than 1 alive, Kryten sitting next to a Skutter can't see them as drunk unless they are the only one alive. But considering the drunkenness has no effect on the Skutters otherwise, I think it still makes sense.

If a Skutter dies, why wouldn't it loose its ability? It should not wake anymore, right? In a Lil' Monsta game, a dead minion is still a minion, the ability to wake is the demon's, not the minion's ability.

the skutter's ability reads "skutters wake together", this means that *each* skutter causes ALL skutters (alive or dead) to wake, meaning that as long as one instance of the ability exists, all skutters will wake no matter what

Writing this up while watching, while I do not know how old this one is I have some thoughts on how to maintain Rimmer's outsideriness: "If you were mad that you are Rimmer and died by execution today: a townsfolk might become Rimmer. If there is more than one Rimmer in play at least one of them is evil." This keeps playing into the Two Rimmers from the show without the accidental farming.

I think that dead Skutters should not wake. The possibility should remain open for an Evil Skutter to Queeg into the Demon. I'm still on the team that thinks it may work better if instead of an Evil townsfolk skutter there should be the possibility of a Minion or even the Demon waking with the Skutters, but if you're not having that then there needs to at least be the possibility of a Skutter becoming the Demon. Because of how risky it is to actually bluff Skutters as evil (particularly since Inquisiter no longer grim peaks) as well as how powerful their information is, there needs to be something to break up their confirmation of essentially Knight pinging each other

Skutter wording: Each night*, All Skutters, alive and dead, wake together and choose a player. They then learn a number of characters that player could be equal to the number of alive Skutters; one is always false, if more than one Skutter is alive one is always true. One Skutter may be evil. [+1 to +3 Skutters] Although I prefer a version where only the alive wake together and choose a player and each learn a character role secretly. It leaves room for the evil skutter to give misleading info.

Should Queeg 500 be to swap with an “evil demon or minion”? This would prevent them for loopholing their interaction with the storyteller by picking townsfolk only to be told “you cannot select this player, you must pick again”, allowing them to hunt for evil townsfolk. In this exact script and iteration of Scutter, this would not be a great play because the good scutters see it happen, but in general (e.g. with bounty hunter) it seems a bit strong and defeats the idea of an evil townsfolk if they can be found mechanically on night 2 every single game. Edit: oh nvm they discussed this whole interaction and yeah it’s a good point that there is a risk/reward aspect to this process in the case of a scutter, particularly if the dead scutters no longer wake.

Rimmer could add something like ‘when executed you may invite an alive player to call you a smeg head which they may do at their discretion. Good players who call you a smeg head may become Rimmer’

Love, love, love the new inquisitor, definitely a cool ability and much more useful than the old one. Can't wait for another one, the script, and your design talk, are so much fun to watch. Edit: Oh, on the scutter thing: maybe all scutters wake and pick, but only living scutters learn the info. It keeps the weirdness of the role intact and tempers how strong evil could be with it. Maybe also, the last living scutter is either drunk or evil?

I would think that the scutters would not wake anyways. One is dead and has no ability. The other is drunk and it's ability can't affect the game board.

I mean, learning a role that someone *isn’t* might be helpful, especially if the last living scutter isn’t evil and the storyteller wants to hint at something 🤷‍♀️

Does this rule make sense: when Jim bexly speed selects the player with droid rot (spare head3), they register as the demon and jim should see who the actual demon selected that night? If so, Ben did not give that info to lyra.

Man, what an absolute banger of a game. JC completely solving the game on like day 4. The two skutters accusing one another. (Including Samantha pretending to no longer be a skutter.) Patters choosing to kill Samantha to frame Milk and Malashaan. Grade A chaos from beginning to end! 🎉🎉🎉

I've met Blood on the Clocktower first. But following TPI makes me want to start watching Red Dwarf (I already have a few inside jokes I dont understand myself!).

It feels much more balanced now. Queeg 500 and Paranoia/Vindaloo Beast might still be too strong as you can swap and kill every night. Here is an idea how to rephrase the Skutter drunkenness: Each night*, all [alive?] Skutters wake together and choose a player. They learn a number of characters equal to the number of living Skutters, one of which is the chosen player's character. If there is only one Skutter left alive, they are drunk. One Skutter might be evil. [+1 to +3 Skutters] Letting the skutters pick someone with just one alive feels silly, however. They could stop waking up in that case. It weakens the character a bit because it makes character changes harder to track: Each night* [...]. If there is only one Skutter left alive, they lose their ability. One Skutter might be evil. [+1 to +3 Skutters] Queeg 500 has "*Each night" instead of "Each night*"

Rimmer could work like barber and the demon can choose to change someone or not and they can get an extra removed townsfolk, or just dont make one and buy an extra bluff for evil
