"LoL is a casual game" is an outdated fallacy that DotAfags use as a generic statement against the game. There's an obscene amount of items, you have to play number games with everything and know how these forced new mechanics work, and people are so obsessed with the meta that you're expected to follow it. HotS doesn't nearly have as much shit to study.

My early Smash 4 experience was just like this: I used to be friends with some toxic idiot that couldn't fathom playing Smash 4 without some form of competitive practice. Every time we hung out, it was Smash 4. Every time we hung out with friends, it was Smash 4. Every time he wanted to go out, it was fucking Smash 4. Because of this, I developed a bad mentality that this game was nothing but competitive, so whenever people told me to just have fun, it was extremely hard to believe them. Like.. what fun is there in doubles? A year ago, I hated it immensely, but after cutting ties with this person and playing with other people, I realized it's not so bad and actually really wacky fun. So yeah.. I agree how eSports ruined some of community aspect and made shitty people in the process.

Not only did this age really well I have a point to add. People do not play these team games not because they want to play 5v5 but because they want to play 1v5 because if they win it was TOTALLY all them and if they lose it was TOTALLY everyone else's fault. I have never been able to get super into team games because while on 1v1 situations I can no stress just go all out in a team game I feel the need to be super nice and do everything they want then I just get stressed and depressed if I even lose one time because I feel like it was all my fault and I let everyone down. I have no clue how these guys can have such massive jerkwad egos about stuff.

I want to play a multiplayer game that's just singleplayer, but other players can affect everything in the world and the economy and the like. To be fair, muting pings was literally the best solution for ping spam that's been a plague of normals, and ranked games alike. That sound is fucking annoying and I hate people pinging "enemies missing" over my corpse or the corpse of one of my teammates. This way people don't ping spam anymore since they're afraid they'll get muted. Also what the hell, first you complain about people getting mad that you don't cooperate with the team and like to "have fun" then you complain about one guy on your team not playing tank because he wants to have fun. That's some pretty heavy hypocrisy there.

in Latin America the community is SO TOXIC no one likes to play. its kinda boring of a game, but then you add the community and it makes you ragequit lol mainly popular here because its "easy" and the characters look cool. the problem is always the community. playing is fun, but somehow multiplayer online games are so damn toxic, unfunny and boring that you end up hating it.

I unironically enjoy Heroes of the Storm, yeah I was forced to play it for Overwatch skins but I ended up enjoying it as the first moba I've ever played and I think it can be a great game to introduce new players to mobas, but I do agree that it has barely any content and it will eventually get repetitive as long as I don't play it constantly and treat it as a game to only sometimes play or to play while talking to someone who isn't playing with me. Btw these points are way too fucking solid and I agree with all of them since I'm a forced Tank and Support main in Overwatch that got sick of trying to get autists to communicate properly and I eventually learned to enjoy screwing around as Roadhog and Lucio and playing the helpful roles in general. #StopPlayingHanzoAndGenjiYouArentSeagullYouAutistPlaySupportForOnceInYourGoddamnLife

As an active League of Legends player, yeah the esports thing is exaggerated (TSM FANS ARE ACTUAL CANCER) but IMO it's actually a good thing. Not for the reason every game is trying to do it, but because its making devs care about how fair the game is. Things like hats giving you stats in TF2 wouldn't have happened if people cared about players having similar power levels. And while fighting games do seem to care, there's plenty that don't and the Naruto episode was a good showcase of that. If games are going to be better for players of all levels because they want it better for competitive players and its creating jobs for players who love their game, that's a great thing. That said, we need more casual server based games. League has a custom games mode that's pretty dead and its dead in OW as well. Matchmaking pretty much means when you join a game you're expected to stick through it. Personally I think OW is a good example of how to run matchmaking for casual players tho, no hero restrictions other than the standard 1 per hero, all the maps are in rotation, you have a fuckaround server mode... I think that game does a very good job of balancing competitive and casual play.

Also muting pings is a good thing. TF2 has a mute feature for sound and chat and you aren't criticizing that Aleks -.- If some idiot is spamming ??????? on you all day you're allowed to make it stop
@firstprimehunter
@firstprimehunter 7 жыл бұрын
I'm glad someone gets it. That ping mute system was the best thing that could've happened to league IMO. I don't have to hear that annoying screeching sound every time one of my allies makes a mistake. Also if you're looking for casual online games, there's actually quite a few browser games that are great to get into. Agar.io, slither.io, Diep.io? One thing I love is building all movement speed, health and body damage and then just walking into other tanks.

I actually enjoy HOTS a lot more than LOL. Maybe it's because I'm a hopeless Blizzard fanboy who sucks Chris Metzen's nuts, but I love the Smash Bros-style mashup of all these characters I've come to love. It's just as anti-social and tryhard as any other MOBA, but I wouldn't throw stones from that nice glass house you're in. I'm just curious what you dont like about it, because I see a lot of jerks come through and act like they're too cool for this game and they just want their Overwatch skins (Isn't that some kind of irony?). I'm not judging, I just want to know your opinion on the gameplay.

Donny Lurch I adore hots, mostly because there is no farming and it is more team driven, also the clear compositions of tank, dd, healer, specialist, when you don't have to guess which hero does what, is a nice bonus, plus I'm a sucker for fan service too.
@donnylurch4207
@donnylurch4207 7 жыл бұрын
FWACKING MADMAN I hate buying items. Talent choices in HOTS is so much simpler and to the point, while still allowing situational customization. Call me a simp, but this whole podcast is about trashing the tryhard scene so I wouldn't call it a valid argument when I'm trying to have casual fun and not get sucked in. I wanted to git gud at League and HOTS and compete in a tournament some day, but it was too much work and made it less fun.

You know, I don't entirely blame Riot for what happened. Remember, they were bought by Tencent, a chinese company, in 2011. before that, League was relatively fun. it was unique amongst mobas for its lighter tone, more parody elements that referenced pop culture or other games, and having an actual lore and story that they tied around the game and updated as the seasons went by. Then the chinese overlords bought them, and it went downhill from there as they became less focused on "fun" and "gameplay" and more focused on profit and whatever edicts came from above. (such as redesigning any characters with exposed bones or skeletons in their design, because exposed bones are offensive in china) Tencent killed Riot and ruined League of Legends. I say this as someone who started playing league fairly early on and was driven away by the kind of shit you mentioned

>Pre wrath you had to spam trade chat with "LF blah blah blah, the conversations were never stellar BUT No buts. You disprove your own point, and the point of every other nostalgia goggles wearing cuck that plays WoW. It was a feature that was added so that you don't see all that garbage all the time, and you still see it for anything that isn't LFR/LFG (Mythics, normal+ raids) It was targeted at casuals, and that's exactly who it effects. There's nothing wrong with that. "BOO THERE ARE MORE OPTIONS NOW EVEN THOUGH THEY DON'T EFFECT ME!" I just don't fucking understand this point of view lmao I agree about the garrison thing, it was awful and WoD in general really fucked WoW's community up. But spamming in trade for dungeons didn't have any more chance of great coversations being had than it does now. You can still talk to people in the dungeon, but norms/heroics are boring, simple and pretty easy compared to how they used to be, so people would rather just be done with them so they can move onto something more interesting. >You used to mark mobs for death And literally everyone still does?? You're just talking out of your ass. Just because you don't need to mark every little mob anymore in norms/heroics doesn't mean the game is shit. >Can someone deal with this? Says the 200h mercy main In a game where people are constantly asking people to switch to heals, you'd think you wouldn't be complaining about a Mercy main doing her job (and not touching her gun, because y'know, fucking heals" >FUCK you for picking the character you want to play instead of shoehorning yourself into this role you hate!" This is something you could have made a good point about (Especially if it was a comp game) but you just ended up sounding like an autistic cunt yourself I usually really like this series, but god damn are you just spewing a bunch of shit that makes you seem like you have no idea what you're talking about. I agree with some other things you're talking about, muting pings is one of the most retarded things I've ever seen from Riot. The entire reason that pings were unmutable up until this point is if you wanted to not talk to people (muting chat/that person) but still have communication, which is important in a team game. That, and autists dumbing games down for everyone so that it appeals to them more (like SFV) but you're also conflating a bunch of issues that have little to do with one another, or making issues out of non-issues.

I dunno, do you see anyone else responding to it? clearly I'm not the only one here. it's not even worth reading if you don't know how to end a sentence and end up spewing insults every time you run out of things to say. In a game centered around community, adding an option that affects the community will affect any player who engages with the community, regardless of whether they use the option or not. Also, why would anyone play WoW casually? it simply isn't designed that way, shoehorning demographics like that has never been a good thing. Also, fuck you, you autistic cunt.
