There are not too many albums that have come out in the last decade that you could say haven't aged well. It's not even been 10 years ffs. You need a lot of time to determine whether an album hasn't aged well, once you determine defining characteristics and sounds of a particular era and/or music movement. The hip hop scene is not really that different from the day it was when GKMC came out. This is as reactionary as the people who said GKMC was a classic the day it came out.

There is no defining hip-hop song of the 90s, the genre had too much diversity, and saying one song is the defining song, only could be valid for the specific style that it would be categorized in. Saying a Dre or Pac song is the best, doesn’t show the boom bap or jazz rap of the East Coast and vice versa.

The Live show I ever saw was the band Cursive. Many things contributed to the amazingness of the performance (small venue, freezing rain, they played a full album from start to finish), but the thing that made the largest impact was the fact that they brought in a string quartet to play on stage with them. 5:55 - by that logic, if you hear a drum beat programmed in a hip-hop song then your evolved galaxy melon brain thinks “oh wow, nice samples”. Dude, you’re really making no sense here. It’s not like we’re talking about some MIDI quality bass guitar sounds and even then, if something is meant to represent and instrument then that’s what you refer to it as. You can record me farting into a microphone and then play the sample back as the Seinfeld bassline and that’s still a bassline within the context of musical theory. Plus, a bassline is anything that’s on the low register so think cello, Tuba, etc

Why Kendrick has aged incredibly well, and is a Top 5 MC of all time : (its very long but I would appreciate if you read my whole point and discuss in the replies) after continuously widening my library of top notch hip hop, such as listening to more songs from Kendricks discography and comparing the 80's esc style of many other Hip hop legends like Rakim and Nas along with Biggie, Big L and Jadakiss I begin to realise that this album really does match up with the best of all time in many ways. Biggie was arguably the best story teller of all time and Kendricks stories of child hood that are incredibly well portrayed on songs like "the art of peer pressure" (which grew to be one of my favourite songs of all time as I can relate to an extent) and also songs like "money trees" can easily match up to those on Biggies "Juicy" and "big poppa". Then we have the flow aspect of things, personally I'm a huge fan of Rakim's flow and how revolutionary his flow is (I see him as the best of all time) and Kendricks flows on many songs such as Isiah Rahshad's "Whats wrong?" and Flying Lotus' "never catch me" can easily match if not surpass many other artists caliber when coming to flow. Now we get to lyricism, let's cut straight to the chase, this is Kendrick's strongest aspect. His lyrics on songs such as "sing about me I'm dying of thirst"(my favourite song off of the album) and "how much a dollar cost" are just sensational and sets the standard for many decades to come. After comparing Kendrick to the greatest MC's of the past Kendrick comes off to me as the greatest all-rounder in HipHop's history, he is so versatile. He can be hilarious on songs like "Range Brothers" and "Family Ties" but can also be lethal and incredibly serious on songs like "Duckworth" and Big Sean's "Control". I think the only thing holding Kendrick back these days is, number one, his production. I absolutely adore a lot of the production on GKMC, TPAB and DAMN. although you can't help but to fantasise at just how good Kendrick teaming up with producers such as The Alchemist and Madlib - following in the footsteps of Freddie Gibbs who is brilliant (and another favourite of mine) but doesn't have the talent that Kendrick has. The second thing holding Kendrick back is his lack of competition these days, as HipHop is. rapidly becoming the most widely listened to genre more sound cloud rappers keep hopping on the trend to cop the bag rather than to make good and proper music. Unfortunately the game at the moment is incredibly saturated with low quality mumble rappers so therefore Kendrick is really in a pool of his own at the moment with low competition which gives him little motivation (as he went on a streak of not dropping for 4 years). It is at times where rappers are fighting for their reputation and dignity that they produce their best music, a brilliant example of this being Pusha T and Drake both producing their best music in ages. Had Kendrick been in the generation of the old MC's I don't think people would blink about him being a top 5 rapper, although old HipHop heads instantly have a bias against him due to the fact that he is part of the new generation of rappers. This is ultimately something Kendrick has no control over due to the fact that he couldn't decide when he was born, therefore I think it is unfair to have such biases against any modern day MC let alone Kendrick Lamar. Let me know what you think about this and I would highly recommend listening to ever song I mentioned.

I've met plenty of kids who loved both. It's more like the casual rap fans who never listen to full albums that can't get into Kendrick. I mean I'll admit, even I didn't like the singles off of GKMC back when I first heard them cause they made no sense without context. Nowadays rappers rely on singles way more than full albums, so it's rare to meet kids who can comfortably talk about their fav artists' whole discographies. Then again, it's rare to meet music nerds in general.

Saw a Coheed show a couple years ago where they brought out the horn section from the opening band, Thank you Scientist. Def added to the show and it was only for the last few songs anyway.

A bassline (also known as a bass line or bass part) is the term used in many styles of music, such as jazz, blues, funk, dub and electronic, traditional music, or classical music for the low-pitched instrumental part or line played (in jazz and some forms of popular music) by a rhythm section instrument such as the electric bass, double bass, cello, tuba or keyboard (piano, Hammond organ, electric organ, or synthesizer). In unaccompanied solo performance, basslines may simply be played in the lower register of any instrument such as guitar or piano while melody and/or further accompaniment is provided in the middle or upper register. In solo music for piano and pipe organ, these instruments have an excellent lower register that can be used to play a deep bassline. On organs, the bass line is typically played using the pedal keyboard and massive 16' and 32' bass pipes.
