The feeling of finding a new artist/band is honestly one of the best feelings. I wish I had the discipline to listen to as many genres as das melon, but none the less, it’s one of my favorite things finding something new that I like.

As a drummer of over a decade, I'd argue that by not getting in the way of a song's flow with masturbatory overplaying, she does the intruments justice far more than many contemporaries. Got a hot take : Lots of Soundcloud rap is actually good in many aspects like being good at riding a beat, making collabs that work to their strengths, some of them have fantastic hooks, there are lots of emotion in terms of expressing themselfs and whats going on in their lives or some over all stories, and finding something that makes them unique even if the beat has been done to death. Some examples that I think fit the great/amazing side of Soundcloud rap are: Kill Bill: The Rapper Lausse The Cat lookira Burney Love-SadKiD atlas iDakota Sora D.

When discussing old Slipknot, you should also look at the creativity of their work. Slipknot incorporates two percussionists who play everything from trashcans to bongos to egg shakers. Also, they have one guy who just scratches records and another guy who does nothing but find samples. These innovative features of the band are amazing, and really make tracks like Wait and Bleed, which relies heavily on the use of record scratching, and My Plague, which has some truly beautiful sounds from the trashcans.

Because her albums still sell and plus I'm an old-school guy I still love albums hell I Still Love CDs I want to hold it in my hand, when someone asks you have the new so and so album yeah I have it physically and not saved on some fictional magic cloud. Music nowadays is treated like a disposable camera, people buy music just to delete it in a couple of months what kind of shit is that I've tried streaming and it's just a waste of money for $9 a month I take my CDs over music in a fictional cloud

I don’t think there’s even an argument . Meg White is in no fathomable stretch of the imagination a good drummer... that being said, The White Stripes wouldn’t be what it was with a “good” drummer... her drumming was just what it needed, and she was perfectly adequate for their music, and more than that, her look, her style, her character, her quirkiness was perfectly suited to be the yang to jack’s yin. Honestly I really can’t even imagine them having a drummer that’s even a little bit more nuanced or detailed or anything that can be considered “good drumming”... the band needed a nice, steady, minimalist, super basic, steady, rhythmic percussion which only serves to compliment and highlight jack’s guitar work, which is in itself pretty simplistic and minimalist in general... I have absolutely no issue with Meg White’s lack of ability. She was perfectly decent enough to make The White Stripes the awesome band what it was, and ended up being a statement and perfect example that a band doesn’t need to be some virtuosic display of impressive ability to be an awesome band, and in many cases, it’s the songwriting over the musicianship that really makes a song... And this is coming from a music fan who was first and foremost a fan of progressive rock in the vein of King Crimson, Yes, ELP, Rush, and so on and so forth when I was young and branches out into all sorts of genres across the entire spectrum of the music landscape. And to be completely honest, back when The White Stripes were first becoming a little bit mainstream, it was back when I was in high school and was still mainly into progressive rock and a lot of metal, as well as some grunge and just starting to get into more artistic and experimental rock that would hybridize with pop and electronic music, I actually hated The White Stripes for the very reason that they were too simplistic. I thought that meant that they were shit. And Meg’s drumming was a huge part in me coming to that conclusion... really before even fixing them a decent chance. But when I finally matured both personally and in my music tastes, I eventually went back to give The White Stripes a decent chance, and found that I was just ignorant and jumped to conclusions through erroneous misconceptions about what made music “good”... and found that I not only liked their music, but really fell in love with a couple of their albums... People just need to learn to open their minds like I was able to, and they’ll find that what they think they might hate without even giving a decent chance they actually really appreciate. And The White Stripes is just about the perfect band for this.
@thepigeonsofthepacificnort22685 жыл бұрын
If Meg did indeed fit the band perfectly, then she was an amazing drummer in her own right and would not have been fully recognized for her ability outside a band like the white stripes
@jameswillit67315 жыл бұрын
and all that ya ya ya ,you talk too much, still she will go down has a greatest drummer, Because her timing is just fucking impeccable, and a sex machine with drumsticks , that for some reason drives men mad,,,, like the Sirens, Meg White
@honuman395 жыл бұрын
Spot on. Anyone disagreeing is too much of a fan boy to see the argument. It's kind of like the drummer threads I'll read about Travis Barker. The Blink fans are junk yard dogs claiming Travis is the best drummer ever. He's a good rock drummer but when you start talking skills behind a drum set you have a very deep hole to travel to label a drummer"great". Which brings me back to White who as you said fits TWS perfectly and they made great music. A drummer can play great music without being a "great" drummer. Music has a long line of players who made great music but weren't great musicians.
