Carlsen used to memorize world populations and country statistics as a youngster. I think he might be familiar with memory techniques. That's probably why he's so consistent. He probably remembers all his opening analysis and preparation

He's never demonstrated that memory of country statistics though. In fact he's never demonstrated any ability in anything other than chess. He isn't even particularly great at monetizing his chess outside of winning competitions.

I think Carlson playing 10 simultaneous games blind folded also demonstrates his pattern recognition and memory. Supposedly he has roughly 10,000 games in memory.

17:35 How to choose a book NOT at random. 1.Go through the pile yourself and make sure you put the one book you want slightly to one side (to the right on the screen) - do your best not to hesitate slightly and make it look deliberate! Perhaps even knock it further to one side with another book as you carry on through the pile, to reduce suspicion. 2. Have someone blindfold you, legitimately. It makes this more believable. 3. Remember to start checking from the side of the table you put the book, so you don't miss it! 4. Pick up your choice, then a few others. Pretend to mix them up, hide your choice among them without losing track, then drop the other books - it looks random if no one's really watching! 5. Profit!

The Beetles one is impressive but doable. I really like live music. And for some time i had all the same 100 songs on the car mp3. And i got really good recognozing the music playing just by listening people screams before the band started playing

I agree. If someone has a radio playing, no matter the station, I can almost always recognize a song after a second or two. ...and before that 1-2 seconds is up I already had time to think to myself "Why do they play the same damn songs over and over again???" 😆

Nelson, I have an interest in chess. I have an intention to memorize chess openings, chess traps, and chess games.. I was actually thinking if common memory techniques can be used to memorize chess moves?

In Bijay's video, since I don't know what the text on screen is or what is being said, the only reasonable thing he can be claiming to do (not that he deserves "reasonable"), is perhaps he's claiming that he has already memorized all the books, will pick one at random (didn't look random lol), and recite some passage. Like, that would at least be a very reasonable demonstration vs absorbing the fucking book via osmosis 😅

How to memorise non-nouns successfully. So, abstract things like "and", "quickly", "ironic", "today" or "time" and so on and so forth. These are the types of words I find much harder. And finally, (foreign) words when you have no corresponding sound or word to replace it with (can't think of an example of the top of my head) Thanks, big fan of the channel

To so be fair to Bijay Shahi, illusionism is an art form all itself and is due a certain amount of respect... but there's a fine line between that and charlatanism/ bullshiting.

for the last guy. What if he's using the Major system pegs instead of a journey. An he in fact only looked at first and last words and not the whole page (making it a magic trick basically). Yanjaa did the same thing with Steve harvey right? Steve would call out the page number and Yanjaa would say the first word on the page. No?

There has been quite a few others that have been cited as having photographic memories. It can be a little exaggerated to.

@@pjayshah don't think it's exaggerated. Most strong players can remember sequences of moves very easily, especially from their own games

@@sarangtamirisa5090 , I will agree that their ability to remember games are phenomenal. But it has also been proven no one really has a photographic memory. Even people outside of chess have been stated by others to have photographic memories.

There was some anecdote somewhere...sorry long time ago I heard it and can't remember where...but someone said something to Bobby in foreign language..and later even though he didn't know the language he asked what it meant, and was able to recall what was said. (I don't think it was very long or anything, but still I remember being amazed at it).

I do something very similar to the swedish guy, I don't think it's fake at all. It's a much more raw and time consuming technique for me, never got into mnemonics at all, maybe he's doing the same and that's why it looks weird to you but with a lot of practice it's really just that instant.

i think the last one he's only remembering one word per page so it's more than possible. Re the body language I read it that he's stalling when he's thinking of the answers. of course i could be wrong. That Bijay guy is pointless. Just wound that forward, pretty certain he's fake.

I think the dictionary guy is legit... it's not that hard really. Why I think that is he's obviously buying time with 'nice page' and that stuff. Really you can't judge on the basis of N.L.P b.s. because note everyone has the same cognitive eye patterns. (could be wrong though... there does seem to be a down to the left from his perspective direction which is same in more than one)

I’m curious for the Peter Pan guy if he’s looking in a mirror, the hand motions he makes (14:30) for which way the people are running match our perspective of the screen, but are backwards from how he would remember the scene if he’s seen it a bunch. Obviously he remembers a lot of the words but I think he may be using some visual clues?? What do you guys think

You're reading too much into that one move. He's gesturing exactly like the characters do (Crocodile punches the water with the left fist, he does too) and most of the video he's either looking up and has his eyes closed.
