It is very likely that Mythra and Pyra remembered everything. When Roc was reawakened, everyone was very unfamiliar with each other, whereas everyone was so happy when Mythra and Pyra reawakened. Moreover, Pyra was a 2nd self that Mythra created, so if Pyra/Mythra really lost their memory, Pyra wouldn't even have reawakened.

Let me add on some more speculation. I feel like that lyrics in this game can mean something at times. What i mean is, in the credits song, where the core starts glowing, the lyrics talk about *someone* asking God if time could be taken back, and wishing to have one last moment with the one they love, and just before pyra or mythra say the words, the lyrics say "i want you to know (the real feelings)", and there and then she says it...but perhaps this was only so she could fulfill her last wish, and then accept her fate because the only times we've seen both pyra and mythra at once is in the dream elysium and when pnuema awakens, so basically in visions, which arent physically true. This can explain the presence of two cores for the same aegis

Reviving both Mythra and Pyra might've been part of Klaus's plan of restoration. What's especially interesting is that they both have core crystals in the end. I think Pneuma's and Malos's core crystals were reassigned to Mythra and Pyra. This might've happened as soon as Malos died actually, which is why Pneuma had two core crystals when she was inside Aion.

When I heard Shulk's line about defeating Zanza, my jaw dropped. I had suspected that Klaus' other half was Zanza and that his upcoming demise at the hands of Shulk and co. was what he was referring to when he said his time was drawing near, but the audible confirmation just sold it for me. As a massive XC1 fan, I love how XC2 connected the two universes. Also, Zeke's line about respecting Pyra's wishes being what it means to be an adult hit hard because that was Zeke's underlining character. He was Rex's father figure (or maybe more of an uncle). He mentions a couple of times earlier how Rex's heart is in the right place but that he needs an adult role model to guide him. Because of this setup, that line hit hard for me. Zeke, like Reyn, is a comic relief character done right as he has way more beneath the hood than just goofy unlucky nerd trying to look cool. I just beat XC2, and I have to say that this is one of the best stories I have ever experienced.

I just posted it, but my theory is that the reason we didn't get that is because the core crystal which Pneuma created when she removed hers while fully healing Rex was one which held both Pyra and Mythra's personality fragments as well as their memories, which Pneuma as a Trinity Processor still possessed copies of. At the same time she made it such that when the Core was bonded with it would give both Pyra and Mythra their own full body and memories up to that point in time. Then after she finished making it and setting it up Pneuma severed her connection to it (the point at which it turned black). She could do this because Klaus had also given Pneuma specifically all the data as well as full access to everything that he knew and had. So after all that Pneuma had her good bye and went off to sacrifice herself to save everyone. So in my theory, after the bridge scene Pyra and Mythra would be separate from Pneuma before Pneuma died, but would still possess their memories of everyone, and the potential to be a Processor in the future, but none of the knowledge or access that only Pneuma had. So when Pneuma dies the other two Aegises are safe in their separate core crystal.

One thing that sucks for new players who are playing after the Smash reveal is that the Smash reveal is sorta made to be a post-game DLC bait and switch with Rex going around and talking to all the friends he made along his journey. This unintentionally spoils that Pyra and Mythra survived since he's searching for them after they have gone missing. Kinda sucks and it really made it so I couldn't be that effected by the tearjerker ending since I already figured that the two would be alright in the end.

I can’t say I agree with this since in the smash reveal Rex still has half of Pyra’s core crystal so it couldn’t be happening at the end of the game, and since they never stated specifically when Pyra disappeared you can infer that it probably just takes place mid-game since you are meeting all the party members and not the end of the game so the “unintentional spoiler” wouldn’t work
@samtesoro7363
@samtesoro7363 3 жыл бұрын
Considering how she pretty much dies and gets revived in the same cutscene, a lot of Smash newcomers wouldn't even notice that "spoiler". Plus the fact that he's still roaming the titans and the cloud sea still being a thing despite it disappearing at the end of the game with that new land suggests that this takes place mid-game.

@Blue Aura yes indeed, if you remember that blades lose their memories because it is implied that these are sent to Klaus, but the aegis are known as the blade managers, so to think that pyra and mythra lose their memory because they sacrificed themselves to save everyone is hard to believe, also if you look closely and pay attention to the scenes, you will notice that when rex had half the crystal of pyra and mithra it was because of that they were able to return, in that case, rex was like a walking backup of all the information that was needed for pyra and mithra to continue to exist So what tells us that pneuma didn't do the same at the end of the game and is that why they were able to return? In fact, if the core crystal lost all memories of pyra and mithra, they should not have returned because it is to consider that if addam had been able to control the power of pnuma, mythra would not exist and therefore neither pyra perhaps the only thing that the Central crystal loses is the data regarding pnuma, but instead those of Pyra and Mythra remained and as there had always been two Aegis in Alrest, it was so I think Pyra and Mythra have their own bodies because the crystal may have noticed the absence of logos and when that happened, the crystal would create a copy of itself if it could regenerate the rex's heart, it would be child's play for the crystal to create a copy of itself.

The story already answers this question. Normally all blades lose their memory after they go back to their core crystal. Except the Aegis. Pyra and Mythra both remember Addam from 500 years ago and some people counter argue this by saying that they didn't go back to their core crystal because Pyra was found in the sunken ship. but to those I say, And what about Malos? he returned to his core crystal in Torna and came back and remembered everything. it is very simple. The Aegis will always remember everything that has happened.

The purple particles could mean Malos lives, especially since in Xenoblade 1, when Arglas (possessed by Zanza) was killed, there were very similar green particles floating around, the ones Alvis talked to on prison island. I wasn't a big fan of the ending originally either, but after mulling it over for a while and comparing plot-points from the entire Xeno-series as whole, I feel there's more going on with the ending and the Pyra/Mythra split. Especially if more people join in on the belief of the "memory loss" ending. Fusing together again and regaining her memories with a new self/form would fit in very well with Xenogears and Xenosaga. It feels very much like there's more to come for XC2's characters and story as a whole. I don't think their split really has anything to do with Malos though, but more to do with her still trying to find herself. Malos inhabiting Aion feels plausible though and that ties in with me feeling some very strong Logos/Ontos/Pneuma connections to the whole Zohar situation in Xenogears. I don't think he's entirely gone from the world. There are so many allusions to Xenogears and Xenosaga that I which the next Xenoblade game would get here already so I can see if all my theories are right D:

I just see the ending as Pneuma knowing EXACTLY what she is doing! We as the player know that they can live for a while without the core crystal, and it's implied that the only reason why a Blade loses it's memories is to both make them a "clean slate" for a new driver, while also relaying all their new info to the Aegis's, and since the data inside Pneuma doesn't go anywhere, it makes no sense for her to lose her memories, as we already know that Mythra remembers her time with Addam and his group. Pneuma knew that having her return to her crystal was the only way to save both the party and destroy the station, as we can also assume that losing ALL the Aegis's would probably unbalance or prevent the final gift from Klaus. If Pneuma wanted Rex to live on, forgetting all about her, she could just have broken their link like Malos explains she could easily do, allowing Rex to live while she kept her crystal. She wanted Rex to save her, she knew that leaving her crystal on his side would make him pick it up. Just like Rex evolved throughout the story, so did Pyra, Mythra and Pneuma. Pyra learned to be more assertive, Mythra learned to open up and accept kindness and her powers true purpose, and together they taught Pneuma to be more than her role as the Aegis. By the end, Pneuma, Mythra and Pyra all shared a selfish desire to live on with Rex and the others, where they were willing to die, and even wished for death because of their past. Pneuma not returning was probably the result of losing The Conduit, as it was the basis of their power, and because she knew her time as Pneuma was limited by the Conduit, she chose to allow Pyra and Mythra to take her place beside Rex. The conduit itself is also a big questionmark in the story... Why does it disappear? And if it didn't just vanish, where did it go? Why now? My expectation is to be the catalyst to another story down the line, vanishing from the XC2 dimension, while appearing in XC3s dimension, having done it's "job" here, kickstarting the plot of that game somehow...

I honestly found this ending as a poetic culmination of Rex's journey in search of knowledge; knowledge about how his world goes, knowledge about the essence of human being, knowledge about the meaning of life itself. Rex found his own way to protect the ones he loves, fighting against an opponent who probably is the greatest philanthropist ever appeared on Alrest surface (yes, I think that Malos is a bit reminiscent of Krelian from Xenogears): Rex discovers the truth about the metaphysics and ontology of his world, which is nothing but a desperate attempt of his "Architect" to recreate the life he previously destroyed. A partially failed attempt, because the life awakened from it was as corrupt as it was in Klaus' (and ours) reality. But, even knowing this, Rex chooses to fight against the malice of human heart with the hope of a better future for all living beings: he seeks this hope is the life itself, just like Pneuma did when she turned her death wish (chapter 7) in a strong desire of giving a meaning, a purpose, to her existence. Instead, Malos tried to stop the eternal cycle of suffering of humans and Blades simply deleting the whole concept of life, believing in a nihilistic but (sadly) realistic way to act. At the very end, Malos fails, Pneuma gives meaning to her life and atones her sins letting the others escape from the World Tree and Rex finds the answers he was searching for: but is this the best outcome possible? Yes and no, because Rex loses his only love (I'm certain that Mythra and Pyra lose their memories in the end: they reawaken as "regular" blades 'cuz the Conduit disappears. So, the "Pneuma" identity no longer exists, and they come again to birth as "new", individual blades. Maybe, as you said, with Malos data buried inside them, but still with no memories of the time spent with the party) but gains the possibility of building a better future as a proper lead (Rex means "king" in Latin, better not forget this). This is an open and uncertain scenario, and Rex was submitted by the laws of the world he tried so hardly to discover. He cannot change the cycle that rules the blades and titans eternal lives, and he can't do nothing but keeping going on his way to the future, along with mere shells of the girls he loved. So yeah, he gives the world another chance, but he doesn't rebuild the reality as Shulk does in XC1; while, probably, Malos could have deleted all the sufference in the world (surely in a very drastic way, but, in his eyes, the end justifies the means) because he is "Logos", "the logic". That's the poetic aspect of this ending: it leaves you with mixed feelings about what have just happened, and it's way more "real", complex and philosophical than it may appear. Obviously this is just what I think, feel free to agree or not. Luxin, I believe you are the best XC2 content creator on KZfaq, and I feel grateful to you for your efforts in making these splendid videos. But let me tell you something, if you want: maybe our fan community should focus more on what Takahashi tried to say to us rather than discussing if Rex's hook could reach the other side of the collapsed bridge or not! This is not the point of the game; obv, that's my conception of XC2. That's only what I personally think. Oh, and sorry for my English, but I wanted to write my thoughts.
@chowy_
@chowy_ 5 жыл бұрын
Oh, and I forgot to say that, in my eyes, Pyra and Mythra's loss of memories is the most logical outcome possible. Pneuma gave Rex her core crystal (as Malos said, Aegises can survive without a crystal for some time before returning to it) knowing that she couldn't born again as the same person after the disappearance of the Conduit, and this explains her farewell to Rex in the bridge scene. Then, when Pyra and Mythra return to Alrest, I think that Rex's facial expression is pretty obvious and self-declamatory: why did he hold back his joy? He doesn't seem so much happy about their return: he could be still really upset after Pneuma's death, but it doesn't seem a comprehensible behavior if they really mantained their memories. I see Rex's face as the face of a resigned man. And then, there's no written rule which says that an Aegis can't lose his memories if it returns to its crystal. Certainly, they are very special computers, but they basically act as a regular blade: for example, Malos gains his personality from Amalthus (and so does Mythra from Addam) just as a normal blade. However, it's obvious that the final is ambiguous on purpose! I just cheer for the most logic and poetic one, but we can't be 100% sure about this ahah

@@chowy_ Except Pneuma does not give Rex HER core crystal. She gives him a core crystal which holds Pyra and Mythra, whose connection to Pneuma had been severed, thus why it turned black even though both Rex and Pneuma were still alive. All that was Pneuma was consumed in the explosion. That core crystal that was created from the fragment in Rex was effectively a new core crystal with the memories of the current Pyra and Mythra built into it as well as their individual forms.
@chowy_
@chowy_ 5 жыл бұрын
@@LainK1978 I understand your point of view, but don't you think this is just pure speculation? We have no clear evidences pointing to this possible outcome, only a few clues about what an Aegis can do: it's certain that Pneuma contains data of all life beings, and a clear example of this is the scene where she gave Gramps the power to turn back to his old form. However, when Pyra and Mythra came back, we can't be so sure of what had just happened unlike in the Gramps scene. We clearly see they're alive, then Poppi happily hugs the two girls, our favorite waifu of choice says something mysterious and Rex doesn't seem SO happy about this. I honestly don't think we have enough proofs supporting a theory so "complex" and precise as yours, so maybe we have to analyze the little data we have, starting from the things we are 100% sure about. Pneuma bid farewell to Rex and friends on that famous bridge, and gives Rex "a" core crystal, restoring his life while losing completely her half crystal. Then she manages to use Aion and bla bla bla, we all know what happened. On the Alrest "surface", the core crystal she gave awakens, giving new birth to Pyra and Mythra. The whole group seems very surprised and Poppi runs to hug them, an hug which is clearly reciprocated; then Nia pushes Rex towards them, one of the two girls says something and we have a shot of Rex's final expression, who doesn't looks likes the happiest man on the face of Earth. So, we have two possibilities: 1) Pyra and Mythra lost all of their memories due to the disappearance of the Conduit and due to their return to their crystal state. They come back together because they are sub-personalities of the original one, Pneuma, that no longer exists because there is no Conduit left in the world; Pneuma is indeed an Aegis in the strict sense of the term, while Mythra and Pyra don't, they're simply restrained forms of the original one, with no possibility of reality manipulation. They react to Poppi's hug because it's an instinctive and pure way to act, and then they greet Rex as their new driver, which kinda explains Rex's "weird" behavior. 2) They mantain their memories entirely thanks to Pneuma's powers. That means that Pneuma's farewell on the bridge has meaning only for "her" personality, which is different from Pyra and Mythra's ones. So, Rex's not-so-hidden sadness is relative to the loss of the Pneuma's personality, which he has known only for a little time compared to Pyra and Mythra. I know that we can't speculate so much about Rex's way to react in such a situation, because hey, everyone has his way to handle circumstances. I simply find much fitting the "memory loss" outcome, considering all the pieces of the puzzle put together and the huge philosophical, metaphorical and moral implications of this ending; moreover this entered in my headcanon so even Takahashi's hypothetical words won't change my mind ahah I'm not saying I'm right or something like this, because we can't be sure about this ending. I'm only trying to say that, in my opinion, there's no clear evidence pointing to a clear resolution of the problem, so we can't know if that was Pneuma's crystal, Mythra's crystal, Malos' crystal etc. I simply want to believe in that ending, because I've loved it and there are chances that it seriously happened!

@@chowy_ sorry I'm kinda late for this. (Spoilers for both Xenoblade): I feel like for this game, there's a good amount of evidence pointing both ways. I think we'll just have to wait for Xenoblade 3 to decide what really happened, and here's why: you said that she returns as a normal blade, and is no longer an Aegis, because the conduit is gone. The problem with that is that we don't know for sure if the Conduit is gone as in destroyed, or gone as in it has gone to another dimension. If it has simply moved on to another dimension, it's still possible for some Aegis powers to be retained, since we've seen that Alvis was able to use the Conduit's power from his own dimension to recreate the universe. This means that Aegises can still use the Conduit's power even from another dimension, although it is possible that Alvis was drawing his power from Zanza, who was technically directly connected to the Conduit through Klaus. If the Conduit is destroyed, then it's slightly more likely that Pyra and Mythra lost their memories. I say slightly, because if you think about it, the Aegises were never meant to be normal blades. Their core crystal is still a data storage device, and not a regular core crystal. Think of it like a hard drive for a PC, with the conduit being the battery or power supply. Even if you unplug the PC, the hard drive will still retain the data that is stored within it. I agree that the ending would be more poetic if they forgot, but it's just not clear which one the answer is. I think it'll be more clear if a Xenoblade 3 comes out that explains what happened to the Conduit after 2. I also think that this game left enough open and unresolved in the ending that we could possibly see a direct sequel, although that doesn't seem as likely.

13:47 Wild guess, but maybe the two red Processor cores on-screen are showing an error in those two cores? That would make Ontos and Logos give an error, because their cores are destroyed/in a different dimension. Not sure I believe this myself, but I'm just airing an idea.

It's either to say that two Aegis cores, or two of the trinity processor cores are in that dimension and to show that one slot (Ontos) is empty, or like your explanation, it's saying that 2 are corrupt, destroyed, or missing. We do know that Ontos (Or as it is in XC1, it's Alvis/Monado) can use the trinity processor, even disconnected, as he, Logos/Malos, and Pneuma are capable of talking with the conduit. Though, Luxin's response could very well be true. Logos/Malos and Pneuma could very well be the 2 cores out of 3 using Aion/Manipulating the Zohar at the time, and Ontos/Alvis is unable to access it as he's not in the current dimension. Doesnt help that the entirety of XC1 is technically in a pocket dimension. I say pocket dimension because (as explained in the protagonist battles), the space we see where we fight the memory/spirits of Mumkhar, Zord, and all them, is regarded as Space Memory, so it's Zanza/Klaus's recreation of what it would be, in a shorter space. i realize i went off there with things that probably didn't matter but meh.

Xenoblade 1 elitists: Man Pyra and Mythra coming back is a nonsensical cop out, unexplained ass pull just for a happy ending that ruined their arc. Also Xenoblade 1 elitists: Man Fiora coming back in her human body was pure genius, fully explained writing. Sure, the impact of her life being held on by the mechon body/Meyneth was thrown away with no explanation (in game) which hurt her interesting arc of enjoying one last time with Shulk and co. but also having to bravely accept the fact that her time is running out and the world being at stake, but It's great! I love a happy ending!

@benwykes4736 4 жыл бұрын
Well, the machina stated all along that they might be able to help her in that regard, and she turned it down to help save the world (one of her cooler character moments). I thought it was fairly straightforward. Even missing that, you could guess that Alvis (according to Shulk's wishes) gave her body back when remaking the world, which also makes sense despite not being the case. My point is, Fiora's return as a homs had the same happiness as Pyra/Mythra's return but it was fairly clear in-game and out that it was possible.
@DoctorMinjinx
@DoctorMinjinx 4 жыл бұрын
@@benwykes4736 Meyneth is what was keeping Fiora alive. After she died, Fiora was on life support slowing down. Shulk's wish/Alvis had nothing to do with her survival, it was actually detailed in Xenoblade: The Secret File - Monado Archives Sometime between the events at the Mechonis Core and the ending scene, Linada informs Shulk of the possible existence of an ancient High Entia regeneration chamber which will give Fiora back her old body. However, Fiora must go into the chamber for six months. Shulk discovers the Regeneration Chamber behind a locked door in the cylinder hanger after having seen Melia, now queen of the High Entia, commanding it to open in a vision. Fiora refuses to go into the chamber until the party defeats Zanza, knowing that she would not be able to help them in her old body. Once Zanza has been destroyed, Fiora enters the chamber; however, the game does not show this. The final cutscene takes place after Fiora's half year in the regeneration chamber. Anyone who just played game (IE almost everyone) didn't know this and just accepted Fiora's comeback because the Xenoblade fanbase refuses to accept flaws in XC1, yet pick apart X/2 for similar flaws. Pyra and Mythra's return simply just makes sense via the rules established in game about blade's work. XC1 basically staples on an explanation that was never mentioned in game. Again, likley an afterthought just to justify the happy ending they wanted.

@@benwykes4736 also there's an excerpt somewhere - maybe in the game files or art book, don't remember now, but it exists - that explains in decently lengthy detail how they got fiora her homs body back. I really wished future connected had covered that instead honestly. One, it was after the end of the game. But pretty sure like fc, it was a melia and Shulk only mission and might've actually happened on the bionis shoulder where they discovered a device hidden away that could re-convert the face units back into homs. For the reconversion to work though, it would take 6 months to completely restore her body. And if im remembering right, she'd have to be asleep that entire time.

The problem for me with XC2, that at first they tried to make emotional moment (although it didn’t worked for me), but few moments later they throw it out the window. So it was biger problem for me than Pyra and Mythra coming back deus ex machina, what I mean - it was way too soon. As for Fiora, she dies at first chapter and comes back at mid game. But you may realize earlier that she still alive: in a fight with Xord when he says that he wasnt always like this or that when he "became like this" his eyes were opened, at that moment I realized that mechons don't eat humans (it was kinda weird and illogical for me from the start), but transforms them into mechons, and in a next chapter or so kzfaq.info/get/bejne/itmXrJSZmt6chok.html And she had in game explanation how she survived or was saved/reconstructed. I wasn't invested in Fiora that much as some fans, her death looked as typical catalyst for revenge, but still her revival was done better. If you ask me if it would have been better to leave her dead? Maybe... it's hard too say for the story, as for Pyra and Mythra case - yes, or that sacrifice scene was unnecessary.

The 2 lit cores in Aion seem more like a disconnection error rather than 2 cores powering it. It also looks like there's a word on those red cores, possibly saying 'warning,' or something to that effect. I don't know. Maybe Ontos actually is controlling it from Bionis(would take place during the Zanza fight/Shulk's decision). We'd need more information to make any conclusions on this though. Something to think about. 1: Rex says that there's not enough wire. (Who cares...) 2: Malos is a little bit alive because he asks Pneuma if she enjoyed being alive. 3: Pneuma asks Aion nicely because by that time she doesn't even have a core crystal (we know from Torna that blades can get by without a crystal for some time) 4: I don't consider the ending particularly happy because seeing Pyra and Mythra separately was one of Rex's fears. Another his fear was that their personalities would mix up, but it's not clear if that happened. Also, his romantic future with "her" is now kinda ruined, because it's "them" now. IDK, Mythra might not be against it ;) 5: I don't think that the Klaus's gift was a resurrection of Mythra and Pyra. He had the Titans on his HUD during his "last gift to the humanity" line. Probably he just directed them to the restored piece of land. 6: There's a chance that Pyra and Mythra lied to Rex before, right before Pneuma's awakening, when they tried to convince Rex to give up and let them go. They said that they wanted to meet Father only to ask him to let them die, which IMO was a lie.

10:00 My own theory about why pyra and mythra return instead of pneuma. It's mentioned earlier in the game that the mind of the driver has influence over the awakening of the blade. example's include: malo's being evil due to how amalthos thought about humanity and the way mythra awakend due to adam fearing the power of the aegis and so subconsciously limited the power resulting in mythra and pyra instead of pneuma. So my theory is cause rex wanted both pyra and mythra to return not their combined form resulting in the awakening at the end.

I suspect that the reason that Rex has the scrap sword may have something to do with the model it's using for Rex - it's using a model (or if it's something like "modes" of models, it's the mode which) has no aegis core on the chest. And, the point in the story where he uses that model is before awakening pyra, when he has only the scrap sword. So I suspect that the game's saying "well, it's this model, and its default sword is the scrap sword, so there." whereas if it's using a Rex model with the core crystal, then it probably has a bunch of if statements along the lines of "if pyra/mythra are in the party, use their sword", "if not pyra/mythra and nia has awakened and is not in driver form, then use her scimitar", then "if nia has not awakened OR if nia is in driver form, then use Roc's weapons" and then also there are probably a bunch of variables they could manually enable or disable to suit the cutscene where necessary. whereas, he's not using that model, or mode of model, so the game defaults to the scrap sword. Of course this entire comment is PURE speculation. I haven't looked at the game's code, and even if I had, I don't know enough coding to know what it says most of the time, nor about how 3D models work and are implemented. though if this were correct, it's probably a small objection to your video on the idea that rex actually didn't have the potential, or something of the like, as it would be moreso an oversight on the developer's part rather than an intentional statement. Then again, I really don't mean to rain on your parade, that theory is still very interesting and I like the ideas, just I'm not sure that the cutscene here (displayed at 9:09 ish) would necessarily count as supporting evidence for that theory. then again, I guess that means that it's also not necessarily a point against either!

This has to be the best video game ending I have seen in a long while. It gave me deep lessons on spiritual topics such as sacrifice, and resurrection. What does it take to give your life in service of others? When you give your life for others you transcend, you achieve life beyond death. Even the worst fate that can occur to a human, becomes nothing, you’re on another level. You are now a hero of legendary status.

Okay, I’m sorry I know this isn’t the point of the video, but - the anchor shot section is SO funny? The way you cut it, it makes it look like Rex is just trying the same shot repeatedly, each time going “oh no, it didn’t reach…. Maybe THIS time!” And it is cracking me up. Okay, I’ve actually finished the video now. A couple thoughts: A) I kinda figured that Pyra and Mythra at the end are just one Blade with multiple bodies/personalities, like Ursula with her bear - especially since Blade weapons already show that one Core Crystal when dormant can split into the Core being in multiple places once awakened. B) I’m pretty sure Malos wasn’t talking about Amalthus at the end there. When he said there was only one driver for him, I always took it as referring to Jin; Malos said he existed for Jin’s benefit, and ultimately, when he chose destruction at the end it was because that was the goal he and Jin pursued together. The same final purpose as what he pursued because of amalthus’ hatred 500 years ago, yes, but this time chosen willingly because of his bond with another despairing soul.

The moment when all three monados are on the field is when shulk is able to essential create a new universe without gods kinda mimicking the trinity processor. I could be off base though since the whole lore is preeeeetty heady and it's been a bit since I've seen the end of xc1

well Zanza is show, implied, and said, to have basicly lost all memories of his time as a "human" named Klaus. He truely believes he created the "zanza" monado, and is linked to it. Zanza does not KNOW of Alvis being Ontos, heck he dosnt evne know what "ontos" evne is anymore. Also, one massive difference between the XC1 universe first being created, and the XC1 universe being "changed" to a world without gods. the XC1 universe is MADE off Ether, something the Conduit is implied to produce as the energy source. XC2 is COVERD in it, ether is everywhere in the air, but it isnt made from it like XC1s is. Where even Homs are made from ether and return to the bionis as ether in death. Thus, a single tirnity core, who is linked to the Conduit, would be relativly logicaly able to manipulate the whole Ether World into something new. The Monados do share some parity with the trinity cores, but its basicly said that they are all Alvis, given he can completly controll all three

@@Qwerty10254 I just really wish that he got some level of attention after his death, the only bit of attention Roc got after that was a section of the story that felt more like a side quest, and he wasn’t even in very much of it. I've never played any Xeno Game but one or two months ago i decided to finally give Xenoblade Chronicles 2 a shot. I don't want to buy Wii Games at that point so i decided to start with XC2 and then play the Remake of XC1 if i like the series... and boy i do! I really enjoyed Xenoblade 2, even though it's a completely new franchise to me. I actually liked the ending, i have no compare how good XC1's was. Most people are prefering XC1 at all so i'm hyped to try it out on switch next year. And i really hope that Rex will be added into Smash Ultimate as a DLC-Fighter... Even though it's unlikely

I am waiting for XCDE too, after playing XC2 first. I notice a lot of people who play 2 first enjoyed its ending. Some enjoyed the 2nd more than the 1st. I'd like to see for myself how great the DE is and finally see the story of the first. I'm also glad to see another person that wants Rex in Smash as well. I wouldn't say it's unlikely though, a lot of people in Japan requested him. If Nintendo were wise, they would take the opportunity to please a lot of fans and make a lot of money in return. I'd say giving Rex his invitation around the same time as the DE would be the best time to do so. Then again, who knows what will happen with this whole Coronavirus situation going on...

@@wyrdfate2415 that would have been a good time, but it seems like covid had too large of an impact on development. But either way, it's not like Min Min came out when Arms was at it's prime or even when a new game was coming out, so Rex is still very likely. Especially with how Xenoblade is one of Nintendo's growing franchises, and they'd probably want to create more interest in the series.

But they were treated as separate individuals the whole time and only began to press you (Rex) to see them as such outside of menus mid-late game. She has the equivalent of diassociative identity disorder. What often goes forgotten is that she was only a year old when this happened. Even in mythra's own mind, she and pyra are separate, perhaps because that's how much she hates herself for not being what everyone else preferred her to be. She knows she's not easy to deal with, but she at least is trying to be better.

I'm genuinely surprised you didnt bring up the question of "do pyra and Mythra have their memories after being reawaken?". Because with Pneuma's core manipulation there is a possibility. But at the same time the entire game both in the main story and in some sidequests is foreshadowing that reawaken blades dont retain their memories.
@rtg_onefourtwoeightfiveseven

I think they would keep their memories, and here's why. We know that regular Blades lose their memories before reawakening. Why? Because the data is sent _to the Aegis core_ for processing. The Aegis Core is what stores all the Blades' data - memories - so for the exact reason that regular Blades lose their memories, it makes sense that an Aegis would keep them.

There are apparently subtitles in the game for both outcomes, but they decided to not use them. I'm guessing that originally they were going to use the Affinity system in some way to decide which of 2 (or maybe 3) endings you got. But I figure they ended up deciding that since affinity is tied to power they just went with leaving it up to the players preference on how it ended. Personally, I think that what happened at the bridge was Pneuma making Pyra & Mythra a new core crystal to hold them separate from her own, and her severing the link is why it turns black for awhile. What you have to remember though is that what the game tells us is not that reawakened blades lose their memories, but instead that reawakened blades reset to what their core crystal started with, but in the case of Pyra & Mythra at the end of the game, their new core crystal can quite easily be argued to hold all of their memories up to the point that the bridge scene takes place.
@jericho7173
@jericho7173 5 жыл бұрын
I think it could go either way and it is up to the player to interrupt if they do or don't. I kind of like the idea they did lose their memories and gained the split. Pneuma, Clause gave Pyra and Mythra separate bodies so they could go live their own lives as individuals. (That's why I'm okay with them separating at the end and I don't really see it as a " woo hoo rex gets a threesome" thing). I also see the side quests like Vess losing her husband/Driver, Roc forgetting vandam, as well as Theory and Praxis losing their memories as set up for the end. Also the ending song comes across as a farewell track and I think it would lose some of its melancholy feeling if we get a happy ending where they come back and everything is fine. It's like when Nia gives Rex the push at the end, its to tell him to go introduce himself to the new Pyra/Mythra. The look on his face as well, the way he looks at his shoes reluctantly before taking his steps forward. I read that as someone who is sad but moving forward. But this is just my interpretation, I could be 100% wrong and I'm okay with that.

@@jericho7173 Actually, One Last You directly references their memories. "The shining memory piece... I will trace back all the memories with you". To me, that seems to suggest that they keep their memories (the 'memory piece' is almost certainly the core, which was left undamaged, and how can they trace back their memories if they've lost them?) but it's open to interpretation.

I think they keep their memories. Aegises were made to process data, not to send it. That, and it would take far longer to delete that vast amount of data than it took for Pyra/Mythra to be reawakened. Additionally, the Torna DLC at least implies that Blades don't lose *all* their memories. Even before he's told what it is, Jin thinks Ornelia's old house is familiar to him.

I cried twice, and was left with a happy ending, and it just totally worked for me. Considering how they still wanted to tell the Torna story, which is basically misery porn, I don't blame them for wanting to end Xenoblade 2 proper on a nicer note.

I think my major problem with the bridge scene, is that the beginning of chapter 7 has the party getting upset at Rex for allowing Pyra to sacrifice herself, and then in chapter 10, he’s berated for not wanting to let Pythra sacrifice herself. I’ll give it a bit of leeway since the characters who got angry at him in 7 aren’t the ones who are saying to let Pythra go (aside from poppi, but that’s established why). Still a bit annoying to me though

Honestly Pura and Mythra coming back was something I really loved. This was part of Rex's reward, for saving the world and finally growing as a person and letting them go at first. Plus Rex loves them both and despite there only being one core, one is not complete without the other in anyway. And of course all in all, the game was said to be lighter in tone and a simple love story about a boy and a girl(s), we can't leave the ending bitter sweet, a really happy ending was what this game needed in my opinion.

Honestly, Pyra and Mythra coming back is the conclusion to Rex character development.As the architect told him,he was being really greedy trying to carry the world on his shoulders and trying to save everyone when that isn t always possible.The fact that Pyra and Mythra came back was Rex reward for being able to leave on his own even tho he didn t want that.On the other hand both of them coming back was the gift the architect had for them since both of them loved Rex and the world and wanted to protect it Them dying would go against their development during the game.From fearing their own power to actually using it for the greater good in keeping what means alot to them safe.Even the bridge scene was really well done imo.We could see Rex going through all the 5 stages of grief and by the end learn an important lesson

Luxin Thank you for letting me know. The video idea that I had was a sort of follow-up to your “Are Shulk and Fiora canon in Xenoblade 2” video where you discuss whether or not Mikhail as a usable Blade could be considered canon in Xenoblade 2. Now, don’t get me wrong, I fully consider everything else in New Game Plus to be non canon. However, I feel like Mikhail is an interesting case since he isn’t obtained from a Core Crystal like every other New Game Plus Blade. There’s also the fact that Nia says how Akhos, Patroka, and Jin are dead before the final boss fight but never mentions Mik. You meet him in the world and, by doing so, he joins your side. Some other things to consider are: -The fact that he’s only available in New Game Plus and not a normal playthrough. I’m not sure if a New Game Plus playthrough could be considered an alternate timeline or something due to this alone (like I said, everything else in NG+ is non-canon), but if it isn’t then, no, Mikhail is not canon. If it is, though, it’s still very much possible. -If it’s possible in canon for Blade Eaters to have Drivers. The only instance that we see of a Blade Eater being able to work as a Blade in a Driver and Blade duo is Mikhail himself, whose canonization is the very thing I’m trying to figure out. That’s pretty much it. I still don’t know for sure if Mik is canon or not, but I do think it’s possible, provided that New Game Plus is an alternate timeline in regards to his death or survival.

About Pneuma talking to Aion, it is an extremely common trope especially in anime, for the person to talk to their non-intelligent ship/robot asking them for help just before they go off to sacrifice themselves. With regard to the Aion screen, it shows two of the Processors in red and one in black. I think that it would make perfect sense for it to be highlighting the two Processors which are missing! It is common for computers and other real world systems which are similar to this to highlight what they are missing not what is present. In this case it would make perfect sense if the two which are missing would be highlighted in red. Additionally, the system seems to be marking other places in red which are likely power generators within Aion which are preparing to go critical and also marked to warn the pilot of something wrong. So using this method of reading the display, it makes perfect sense for being Ontos and Logos that are highlighted as they are the ones missing and thus the ones that the Pilot would need to be aware of not being present. As far as both Mythra and Pyra coming back, it had nothing to do with Klaus or anything and it makes perfect sense that they both come back. Pneuma was still connected to Rex through that part of her core crystal. She had all of the data and access that Klaus had by the time the bridge scene occurred. As such it was well within her power and ability to fully move the personality remanants of both Mythra and Pyra into the piece of her core crystal as she fully healed Rex and had the core crystal reform itself. She likely made sure that the new core crystal contained Mythra and Pyra's full memories, and altered the crystal such that it would provide each with her own body, which is something that was established as being possible (Ursula & Beary). At the same time she filled in her own core crystal and then severed her connection to the core crystal (the point when it turns black). After that point we do not hear anything at all from Pyra or Mythra during the rest of Pneuma's scenes. If their personalities were still with her it would have made sense for her to have spoken with them at some point before the explosion. Pyra and Mythra both have full core crystals because that is their natural appearance. They came from the same core crystal, that does not mean that they need to divide it for their physical appearances. They could still be linked through it, and Pneuma would have had the power and ability to make sure that they each appeared with a full crystal. In what I describe above, none of the Logos or Pneuma data would have survived, Pneuma could not have transferred any of her data to the crystal as she was active the whole time and had severed her link and started the crystal's "reboot" before she had completed what she needed to in order to sacrifice herself. Additionally, any possible remnant of Logos was still occupying Artificer Aion, so his data also could not have been transferred, and most likely it was just a lingering part of his presence that remained in Aion (such as the few pieces of his core crystal which were missing after he fell out). If anything a plot that I could see in a XB3 would have Alvis off somewhere on XB1 island, you have Pyra and Mythra off on XB2 island, and then you have a group of people who are distant descendants of Klaus's original world who were in some far off corner of the galaxy/universe or for some other reason could not return until now. The 3rd group had found another Zohar and also discover that whatever was preventing them from returning is no longer stopping them (perhaps Klaus was unconsciously hiding the planet from the rest of the universe the whole time). So they return looking for the Trinity Processors only to find that they have taking on human forms. They try to capture the Aegises only to learn that while each technically possesses the potential to be a Trinity Processor they do not contain any of the data needed to control a Zohar, and either try imprisoning them or something while they search for Alvis. The first chunk of the game would be the main character helping one of the Aegises escape, after which they would work together to rescue the other who gets tweaked have access to the Logos systems. Upon rescuing the second Aegis they and their companions would discover that the Lost Trinity Processor actually had returned to Alrest and was on XB1 island somewhere and they go look for him to warn him or something. Eventually, they all team up and save the day, likely ending with Alvis doing something which sends the Zohar away as well as sacrificing himself so that the last of the data for controlling something like the Zohar is gone. Who knows if you want have it tie into Xenogears and make Alvis become the Wave Entity or whatever the guy in the Zohar was called.

Well, he isn’t the master driver until he awakens Pnuema, so I don’t really think that it could just work like that. Also, we don’t even know if Rex didn’t have the resonance to awaken a blade before he meets pyra, cause we know that he didn’t even know a driver could have more than one blade.

@@TempestRex_ I simplified "being the driver of the Aegis" as being the Master Driver. We're never really told that's the case and gameplay-wise, it is as you said, he only gains extra powers once unlocking Pneuma, but Amalthus refers to himself as the Master Driver as well and, as far as we know, Malos is not in his ascended "Logos" state (because Amalthus never bonded with him enough for that), so it might not be related to the ascended status and just be a thing that Aegis drivers have from the start. Remember when Amalthus was cleansing core crystals and Rex asked if he might be able to do the same due to being Mythra's driver and Amalthus answered "who knows?" - it's left ambiguous if it's an ascended-only thing or an Aegis driver thing.

9:43 Gonna have to disagree here, respectfully of course. A popular theory that I have seen from a lot of people is that the ending of Xenoblade 2 is the same world as Xenoblade 1’s ending. So most people assume that it is a new dimension, as Shulk wanted to create a world with no Gods. So tl;dr, considering that Klaus is Zanza, and Shulk created a new world, and Klaus gave Rex his last gift, it is very possible Xenoblade 3 will be the world Shulk (and indirectly Rex too) created
@kevinr.9733

Another, competing interpretation (and one that Luxin has rather thoroughly discussed on this channel) is that the world Shulk "created" wasn't actually a new world, and that Alvis just transported everyone to Earth/Alrest. After all, if a fully-functional universe with no need for gods already exists, why go through the effort to make a new one?
