I just wish that DLCs were all like this Torna Golden Country. Not some cash grab skin or any other gimmick.

So this means Tora and Poppi are the only party members of the main game to have no relation whatsoever to the events of Torna.

Torna Legacy in a nutshell: Haze and Mikhail become victims of Amalthus’ machinations. Brighid and Aegeaon become entirely different people (kind of), Hugo, Milton and Mikhail sacrifice themselves. Minoth becomes a storyteller as well as running an orphanage, Jin gets to see Lora again (I swear I’m not crying), Addam dies with a hope for the world and a new driver for the Aegis, and Mythra gets Rex’s- Mythra: Shut up!

There needs to be a second DLC. I love these games so much.

You forgot one more legacy of Hugo: to honor the emperor of Mor Ardain during the Aegis War, the Ardanian military officially adopted his battle cry of "Don't forget me!" Unfortunately, with the passage of time this has condensed to just "Don't forget!", but even 500 years later every rank-and-file member of Mor Ardain's military pays tribute to Hugo. Dammit, Monolith, if you just left "DON'T FORGET ME" the way it originally was, this joke would've worked perfectly...

I know Milton was created and written after the main game, but I wish that somehow, he could be referenced. He's the entire reason that Mythra broke and created Pyra, yet he's never mentioned. I know it wouldn't work without changing stuff, it's just that it's a little weird that after playing Torna, then playing the main game, Milton is never brought up, and makes him seem kind of forgotten. EDIT: After hearing your preferred ending to XC2, I thought "what if they did what they did with Xenosaga: A Missing Year," where it shows the characters after the events of XC2? All they'd need to do is warn of spoilers before the beginning of each episode. While I'd prefer it to be actually animated, showing all the characters together just living and enjoying the eternal peace they won would be amazing. It could really make for a fun Slice of Life anime, too!

Monolith Soft need to write Xenoblade novels I would so read 'em all, their lore is phenomenal!

Wait... People were actually complaining about the ending? They knew what they were signing up fot though! At least... Most people since I'm assuming most people played the base game first. However for those who picked up Torna first and then the base game, I could somewhat understand. Edit: Also I'm glad you talked about Spessia. I feel like people forget that it was highly inferred by Amalthus and his goony that Judicium was long destroyed at this point. Heck maybe it was destroyed by the Tornan Titan itself and not Malos. Also in Morytha, Pyra finds out about the slaughter of Lora and Jin and the people of Torna in Spessia. This is the scene before fighting the huge Guldo where Jin tells his backstory to Rex and the gang. But maybe she took the Aegis sinking three titans at face value because for all she knows, she could have assumed Spessia could have been a dying titan like future Mor Ardain especially since her Siren blasts went in so many directions in that ending sequence. She could have assumed she damaged that titan and sped up its aging process.

I wish this game never ended. It’s been the best. I still have to 100% the main game but I wish the story was longer. This was my first Xenoblade and Xeno game and I’m not ready to embrace a new set of characters. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to, all of these characters are love-able, fun and just the best. They really know how to make great characters with great back stories that all tie together in some way at one point in time. I love Xenoblade❤️💞💕

These Xenoblade games are something else. It's a shame they aren't as popular as some other franchises. *Ahem* Pokemon, Mario, etc.

Watching this after finishing Xenoblade 3, the picture thing did happen but with a twist

Playing this game made me forget that torna was doomed, and right before I beat it I remembered that the continent sank and just said: oh... wait a second....

I realized that Vandham is Urayan equivalent of Morag and Zeke (and Addam), since he has noble blood and his second-in-command can be seen with the Queen multiple times after his death. That would also mean Roc would be an equivalent of Jin, Brighid, and Pandoria.

Nice video, ties everything from the main game and the DLC up nicely. Probably my favorite of your videos so far! I like your photo idea. Expanding on it, Mythra could have handed her copy (that she would've gotten from Cole back in Fonsa Myma) to the dying Jin, after he killed Amalthus. Acting as a way to tell Jin that this new group reminds her of old Torna and that they share its ideals, that they will carry on its legacy and take up the torch from here on out. That it is okay for him to finally move on and find peace now (and, possibly, finally be reunited with Lora.) Would have made that whole scene even more impactful imo.

Actually the grave sites in Gormott are at the bottom of toxic water being dumped by the Torigoth Base Entrance, I have taken screen shots were the grave sites are located on the mini map and compare it to the main game map, they both line up where the Nor Ardain base at Gormott dumps the toxic water. Mor Ardain must really love the Gormottie...

I actually played Torna before XC2. I had read that it contains spoilers of the main game but playing the DLC before the main game, I felt, really enhanced the game and made me care about the characters that carried over more than I would have if I had done it the other way. I also really enjoyed seeing how the past affected the future in small ways and how the landscape changed in Gormott.

the funny thing is that torna is like playing crisis core you already know the ending if you played ff7, the point of torna is the journey not the destination

Now that I've finished Torna, I really like that Rex didn't tell Gramps about his mission to salvage the Aegis. When he hears about the shady mission they're on he's just like "shit, i knew this day would come" and rushes over

That idea for the pictures at the end of the video legitimately made me tear up. The idea of the legacy of that one photo being held up for so long that it almost happens again really gets to me. Someone keeping the photo as a memory of the heroes does kinda remind me of the picture you get in the champions Ballad in BOTW. Which is weird because both are DLCs for switch games that came out in 2017 and expand on characters you dont really see in the main game, but I'm going off topic

There is one small detail that is wrong. Nia's "father" was not her driver otherwise she would have gone back to her core when he died. It was her "sister" who was her driver and upon her death, she ate her flesh so that she would live on inside her and so that she wouldn't go back to her core.

You made a great point about Minoth. I got a bit emotional for his psychological wellbeing when you said that. Made me realise why they made those plays a key feature in the storyline and why in the plays the drivers were more emphasised than their blades. He wanted to have a noble driver like Adam or Lora :( He does not want to be remembered in being the blade of his driver Amalthus. He wanted to be valued and desired to be a blade of renown. Why could he not be Lora or Addams blade? Why did it have to be him attached to Amalthus? His creativity and his storytelling is his way of sticking it too Amalthus, and also an outlet to deal with his own grief and memories of the good old golden days.

I have an idea that the reason addam set things up the way he did specifically making a letherian required was made from mythras vision and it wasn't acctually required to have a letherian it was required to have specifically Rex as the person to open the ship because mythra saw the future

i wish addam took half of his core crystal and implanted it into lora that way she might of been alive with jin in the events of xenoblade 2 and that would prevent jin from hating humans why he ate her was because she got shot in the war and was dying so jin ate her heart it made me love jins character and have empathy for him and thanks to torna we know why he hates humans.

I think your version of the ending to the main game would be a bit more memorable than the actual ending to the main game, I love to see that. Unfortunately Rex's story has come to a close and we will have to move on to another story that was affected by the Conduit. And I am looking forward to what story they have. But of course Monolith Soft have to work on X2 first before moving to anything else I assume.

Fantastic video. My friend brought me Torna first, which was introduction to the xenoblade series. The ending was amazing. And when I started playing xc2, so many lightbulb moments happened. Especially later developments of the story when I realised it was the same Mikail 500 years later. I'm just playing it again and I am still picking up super juicy underlying themes that I missed in playing it the first time and playing xc2. I think they did a fantastic job with Amalthus in this not making him too evil. His conservatism and stoicism made him really creepy and unsettling. Fantastic development of his evil character. And this video helped me realise he was responsible for the blade eaters. It didn't twig the first time I played the games that was him.

Also somebody on reddit caught some dialogue in the DLC that said Hugo's brother had a strained relationship with the emperor himself. With Hugo's sudden death, I can see why this change in regime, heck their change in gormotti relations became so different. Edit: Also maybe its just me, but I was kinda bothered by the "lover's quarrel" remark. I honestly think both girls needed acceptance the most, from themselves, from the world, and from their own driver Rex most of all. Knowing Mythra's personality, I don't think she would care even if she didn't get the romance. I mean she still finally found her place in this world and a world that accepts her for who she is. For me, Pyra just got the bonus of romance included especially because I believe if it were Rex's choice and not the players', he would choose Pyra. After all, Pyra is the one who visits the parents graves, whom he has several heart to hearts with specifically the marriage talk at the grave, she's even the form that reminds Auntie Corrine of Rex's mother whereas Mythra can be more... "Coarse". As for people who say they are the same person, I believe Rex doesn't have that excuse to call them the same person anymore either considering both Pyra and Mythra came back. I honestly believe both of them coming back too was a part of Klaus's gift aside from Alrest's titans joining the land. The Pyra and Mythra separate body things is kinda like a failsafe should their true Pneuma physical form be destroyed.

I'm sorry if I'm a bit hung up on this, but did you not see the after credits scene from the main game? You mentioned that the game ended on the core crystal glowing, but the after credits scene shows Pyra and Mythra awakened as two separate blades. Also spoilers for Xenosaga Episode 1 and Xenoblade chronicles 2's endings. Xenoblade Chronicles 2's ending is almost a shot for shot remake of the ending of Xenosaga Episode 1. I can't be the the only one who noticed this. A giant space station is going to crash into the planet and the only way to stop it is if someone is left behind to blow it up. As the heroes are escaping the station something goes terribly wrong where they could die reentering the planet's atmosphere and then some Deus Ex Machina saves them. As they wake up, or go through a rift we are greeted by a scene of the Elsa/Azurda flying over an ocean with the fragments of the space station burning up in the atmosphere. They have a somber moment when they think their friend, the one who blew up the station, didn't make it, but they find out that they did make it. I'm not going to say this is bad, on the on the contrary I really liked the ending of Xenosaga Episode 1 and am pretty happy the ending of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is an homage to it. I'm just curious why I haven't heard anyone mention this. Then again Xenosaga is kind of hard to come by these days so I'm not too surprised.

I enjoyed Torna a lot also because I knew it would end badly, it was this knowledge that made the photo impactful for me. It was literally the state I wanted to be able to preserve the party.

Luxin or anybody, can someone explain to me what happened to Lora's body at the end of Xenoblade 2? If Jin has a part of her within him then why would he hold onto her body? I thought he was planning to somehow revive her or something, it felt like Jin and Lora's arc wasn't finished just yet, or did I miss something? I am currently playing "Torna The Golden Country" right now and I just completed Xenoblade 2 about 3 days ago. Had the game since released and picked it up and put it down and decided to finally muscle through the game and loved every bit of it. Nice channel too, your Channal and Miik really bring the Xeno Lore to a digestible understanding.

Honestly i wouldve only changed one scene and it would be the scene where rex and mythra destroy the indoline pillars while mik was beating up indol. Poppi would only being able to fly mythra and Roc carrying rex. Poppi would get sorta shot by indol and couldnt make it the whole way so Roc decides to take both rex and mythra and poppi retreats but then amalthus tries to weaken Roc with his haze powers or does something relating to ether and Roc does what vandahm did and stabs his wings with his weapons and becomes super fast and powerful eventually making it close enough to throw rex and mythra then after that whole scene Roc starts to die and then nia heals him unlike what she did when vandahm did the same thing and then Roc would probably have a new mechanic which i would call ether accelleration and idk how it would work but i feel it would be a cool concept specially since the last time Roc was important was before going to Mor Ardain
