I understand where that’s coming from, but I’d argue that the fact that he wasn’t shown as much makes it even better. One of the things that makes him so intimidating is that he has a lot of agency in the story even when he isn’t shown. He’s like a ghost, a presence who, to an extent, is always watching, pulling strings from the shadows and could strike at any moment. Everytime when the Proximus squad attacks, we know it’s not because they’re 100% willingly doing it, it’s because they’re following direct orders from Proximus and his ideology. Everytime the gorilla screams “For Caesar”, we later realize it isn’t for the real Caesar, but for Proximus who is genuinely convinced he IS the next Caesar. So in that sense, it feels like every single scene he is shown is more carefully selected. Even if he steals the show because of how incredibly interesting he is as a villain, the fact that he only appears when the story needs him to surrounds him in a more threatening aura. I hope I wasn’t the only one that was waiting for Proximus to ambush Noa and Mae’s team when they infiltrated the base at different points of the sequence and was genuinely surprised when he was waiting at the other side of the door.

@@luigiboyinbluit would be different if proximus had been hyped up more by name prior to the first scene. I don’t even think Raka even mentioned proximus by name when talking to now , only talking about his masked clan. Proximus should’ve been hyped up like how the emperor in Star Wars return of the Jedi was. In that movie, the emperor was barely shown until the end, yet he became one of the most iconic villains

Hearing Koba after the credits made sense though because Koba still "lived" through Ceasar and haunted him, which was a big aspect of the 3rd movie. So even if they meant it to be literal it still made sense otherwise.

Really solid movie. Surprisingly deeper than I'd expected. Like how Proximus isn't really a villain. Like his goal is very noble and sympathetic. @tricky0048
@tricky0048 22 күн бұрын
There are only about 350 Orangutans in captivity in the United States so this could have been a small detail suggesting there just weren't very many here to begin with, the only place in the west coast you would find Orangutans are in the San Diego Zoo sort of implying the rarity of the beloved one we saw, while on the otherhand there are gorillas in the San Francisco Zoo and the San Diego Zoo sort of offsetting the singular Orangutan we saw but not by very much because there are also 350 gorillas in the US within captivity. This could be a 2000 IQ detail added within the movies but don't take my word for it.

@tricky0048
@tricky0048 22 күн бұрын
Good eye! This particular detail is called foreshadowing. Its just movie directors using clothes and different design cues to give away an idea of the future, May was given clothes much different as opposed to the prehistoric humans living along with the zebras, the dramatic irony is the apes did not understand what it all meant because May and her human counterparts are still inifinitly smarter than the apes, and the apes believe they have become smarter but not even being able to pick up on the clothes that she wore when they met her. My best guess as to why most people did not pick up on this is because they would rather focus on the ideas of how she knew exactly where to go inside the military vault rather than smaller details as to how she knew how to get there in the first place, and why was this place of significance, and also how intelligent you have to be create bombs and what her connection was towards looking through that telescope and the group of people she met at the end clearly still just as advanced as before reconnecting sattelite communications with the United States. To be completely honest most people watched this through the perspective of an ape who hasn't particularly evolved to the human potential yet so that could also be the reason?

Just thinking out loud don't crucify me if I'm wrong lol.

You could see it in his face at the end. A nagging doubt that he did the right thing getting Nova to her destination. His face says it all. Have I destroyed all ape kind. Then you have Novas inscrutible look. A complete mystery. Have I saved humanity from the apes. Or just as likely have I destroyed all ape kind in saving humanity. Humans must keep their distance and allow apes to evolve on their own. Really great movie. I liked every minute of it.

The Roman-Christian connection in this movie was widely overlooked. A combination of ignorance and pride.

09:55 You’ve only known Kevin Durand since LOST!?!???? You really should check him out in Dark Angel! It’s an old sci-fi TV show produced by James Cameron and starring Jessica Alba! One of the best shows of the millennium! He’s great in it as a half man half beast. Despite all the heavy make up his acting shines through wonderfully and he never gets enough credit for the brilliant work he does in the show! Or in most things tbh because Durand is great, but often gets overlooked simply because he’s a physically imposing guy and so gets kinda typecast in certain roles.

I just realized we were robbed a Durand and Duncan Bonobo and Gorilla. RIP Michael Clark Duncan, you deserved a better PotA movie, seeing Durands excitement made me remember how cool MCD was in interviews when I was a kid when the 2001 one came out. One of the few celebrities I ever got to meet. I feel like meeting Durand would be similar.

Have you read the new Planet of the Apes: Devolution comics? They add a lot of interesting world building to this reboot universe.

This movie was incredible for me! I really enjoyed the nature, the fight scenes, the whole plot is amazing and there were many morals and messages also feom religion perspective. The problem for me was that the characters were too similar to the old ones, Noah was like Ceaser, Raka like Maurice and Proximous like Koba. Also only Noah and May got any development, I want to see more of the other characters, especially Raka and Proximius. And last but not least important, Ceaser didn't feel like it's Ceaser. In this movie he was more like God, in the previous he was more like Moses, so KOTPOA didn't give us a pretty good perspective of him. Still this movie is my favourite from 2024!

Proximus is like Thulsa Doom from Conan the Barbarian, a cult leader destroying other tribes, and enslaving the young. He's also King Louis from The Jungle Book, obsessed with gaining human knowledge.
