An empanada is a type of baked or fried turnover consisting of pastry and filling, common in Southern European, Latin American, and the Philippines cultures. The name comes from the Galician verb empanar and translates as "enbreaded", that is, wrapped or coated in bread. They are made by folding dough over a filling, which may consist of meat, cheese, tomato, corn, or other ingredients, and then cooking the resulting turnover, either by baking or frying

INGREDIENTS
• 2 Green plantains
• Chicken breast
• 1/2 tbsp Salt
• 1/2 Cup shredded cheese
• 1/4 tsp Chicken season
• 1/4 tsp All-purpose season
• 1/4 tsp Onion powder
• 1/4 tsp Garlic powder
• 1/4 tsp Cayenne pepper
• 1/4 tsp Paprika
• tbsp Butter / Optional
• 1 Cup oil
Remember you can always taste and adjust as you go along.....As I’ve always said add to taste...Stay blessed

I will be spraying mine with a little olive oil and cook them in the air fryer instead of frying and the filling must have some gravy to it for my household. Thanks for recipe. Looks yummy !

looks very nice! thanks! is there a major difference in the 'dough' texture between using green plantains vs semi-ripe (half black half yellow) plantains? i like to use a fork to crimp the edges and then take a small knife to cut off the uneven edges to give it that 'perfect shape' look. either way, they are GREAT! good job!

Hi first let me say thanks for watching as well commenting...They are 2 different texture the ripe is softer than that of the green but if you were to mix both that would be great.

@katashiskitchencuisine thanks for replying back n sharing insight. Ya I noticed more folks using greener than yellow will give it a try. I made my 1st batch 2 days ago will yellowish plantains, I like the lil bit of sweetness with contrast to the filling sauted my own version with fresh spices garlic ginger n fresh lime juice, was multiple flavors all complimenting each other ahaha. Gave me many ideas to try out; I wanna try mixing sweet potatoes n plantains for the "dough" n baking them instead of deep fry sorta diff version of Jamaican patties. Good stuff errting irey ya dunnkno
