Here's a good way to level the track for your above ground pool.

I do mine a bit different. I place a block in the center of the round and level it. Then I measure from that leveled block to each block across and then block to block for the round. done it this way for years and it seems to work. I do however like the idea of the stone dust. I hear that it puts a little firmness to the ground and that will be nice before putting down the gorrilla pad.

At the end of the day he's saying as long as your legs are on the stones and your level reads good between the stones that your legs stand on. Your pool will be relatively level. However that doesn't change low spots in the middle of the pool. So you still want to level the entire area the very best you can. This is the most important part of owning an above ground pool. It only gets more important the bigger your pool.

That is correct. For the typical backyard pool, the real challenge is getting rid of the slope. Most yards have a tiny incline that must be dug out, and this method will verify that you got it right. But as you correctly point out, a bulge in the middle will not be detected. If it's small that is usually OK, because it will not make the pool lean to one side (that's dangerous). Or sometimes you wantit a little lower in the middle, especially if you are going to install a drain.

@@ig_foobar agreed. Installing my first above ground right now and it's 18x48" watching videos like this definitely makes things easier for people who make it more than it really is

Stone dust interesting...most videos say on undisturbed earth and remove all grass,roots and rocks ECT...is this stone dust safe for the liners? It seems it would save me alot of work and all of have to do is remove sod and debris and get it decently level and then use this to make my base.let me know your thoughts. Thanks for video I'm glad I stumbled upon it(watched waaaay to many)

Stone dust to stabilize the ground, then sand on top to play nice with the liner.

This is like one thousandth of what is needed. Site: dig and remove but never add for height. The soil is too loose. If you need to do this add then you need to water and tamp many times with crushed stone and mason dust over and over. Any chance to settle ground-- the pool WILL DO THAT. Also - under every upright you need an 8x8 concrete pad. Your uprights will dig in like a gopher otherwise. The board level is secondary to three points across the entire circle with a line level or a laser level. Following a board level many times allows for slope times every checkpoint. You need to use a line or laser across three pie slices from edge to edge to start there. Those points are the master for the board level. From what I’ve seen you need fifty three videos to do it right --

The internet thanks you for your vast expertise. Meanwhile, the pool in this video has been level for three seasons and counting.

How many inches of stone dust did you use and how many inches of sand on top? Did you put a tarp in between the layers, is there a chance of the stone dust working it's way up through the sand? Thank you!

I used about one cubic yard of each product. This is our fifth season with the pool and there have been no problems

how is that level if top is on a hill. How do you know if entire circle is level to bottom and not on a hill anymore?

yeah the center can be little higher,

Water remains flat. Just need outer edge to be level perfect as possible

How many bags of sand/crushed stone was used?
@ig_foobar4 жыл бұрын
I used my truck to bring my base materials home from a place that sells in bulk -- no bags. For a 15' round pool I used a half cubic yard of stone dust (shown in this video) followed by a full cubic yard of sand once the walls were up.

Is lime dust the same as what you are talking about??
@sarahmangone7785 Жыл бұрын
no...lime is something different entirely.

Rent a machine or hire someone.

Oh man... you need a much longer level than a 9 inch. A 9 inch level is not accurate over 2 foot whether it's on a 2x6 or not.
@ig_foobar2 жыл бұрын
That particular level was certified accurate by the International Academy of Horizontal Engineering and will produce accurate measurements down to the molecular level.
