I have a LG E6 OLED flagship model for past 2 years and I have multiple serious screen burn in issues which are very very visible. These OLED tvs are very fragile / delicate and it is extremely difficult to maintain these super expensive screens. MY ADVISE GO FOR A NON OLED TV. Features like Panel Noise Clear and Pixel shift are gimmicks and there is nothing you can do once you get single or multiple screen burns. Getting a new screen from LG is as good as the cost of buying a new OLED TV. Now since I cant throw away this super expensive oled TV, I primarily use it strictly for watching NETFLIX / Amazon Prime extra or movies that I play through download or blue ray players. For all other regular channel on DTH especially News channels and entertainment channels like Sony, CNN or BBC etc which have bright logos I prefer watching them on my Samsung TV which unlike OLED does not have screen burn issues since it is Backlit LED technology. Trust this review will help readers in making a suitable decision in buying a new TV. If you own a OLED make Double sure on regular basis that all your main picture settings like Brightness Contrast Colour OLED Light etc. are in mid range which is in between 45 - 55 range, anything higher will triple your chances of getting a screen burn which is irreversible damage. (Especially if you are in Quarantine due to Corona Virus and spending hours at a stretch watching your favourite programs on your OLED TV. Stay home and be safe...

The only problem is when you use the pixel refresher it will dim your display. I have an lg b7a 55 inch and it’s about 4 years old. It’s pretty dim and now I have a weird burn in that’s 1 inch wide going from the bottom to the top of the tv which kinda hard to describe. Only on white backgrounds.

I use an OLED55E6V as the main TV for normal TV viewing and the mostly static CCTV DVR viewing. It has been a reliable excellent viewing experience for 6 years ...... but it has developed image retention from the CCTV DVR usage. It looks like a green movie icon in the centre of the screen which is red when viewing the CCTV image. I used the Pixel Refresh function you demonstrated and will let you know the result in about one hour. How do I know if the Pixel Refresh is actually working? I didn't until the end when a white horizontal line went from top to bottom and the tv restarted. The screen image is as good as before. The image retention appears reduced and as before it does not appear on a blank screen only when the screen is busy with normal viewing of moving imagery. Strange, but still an excellent tv I enjoy watching.

@C J according to the LG technicians who replaced my panel. The pixel refresher should be run anytime static content is displayed longer than 1hr on the screen and there is 0% chance of damaging the tv from running it. I always get extended warranties and this was their advice after giving me a brand new panel for free. I highly doubt they would give me advice that would cause them to have to replace my panel again.
@theoneb22000
@theoneb22000 4 жыл бұрын
@C J I will get another brand new panel if and or when their advice doesn't work. And for the record on the newer panels they already reduced the timer down to 1hr. That's why they say the newer models are more resistant to burnin.

@sadderthanyou7793
@sadderthanyou7793 3 жыл бұрын
People are thinking backwards nowadays. It's not your fault that TV manufacturers are using faulty technology. A TV should be able to handle extended periods of displaying a static image. Back in the CRT days, you could theoretically suffer from a burned-in image, but it would literally take months of displaying a static image. The same goes for defective pixels - they could happen even with a CRT, but it was so rare that most people never even knew it's possible. In contrast, defective pixels are now a norm because the damn TV manufacturers can't get the production process precise enough...

@@Celltypewhatkind Samsung QLED has *nothing* to do with OLED technology. It's just a marketing trick to believe that their LCD TVs are somehow special. Yes, QLED panels are good LCD panels and are probably the best option if you don't want to try your luck with OLED burn-in. If you're willing to replace the panel (at your own cost) if you expecience burn-in, OLED panel wins always. So it's purely about which solution you can afford.

Yeah...well...for me, not so lucky! I spent nearly $3,500 on a LG 65 inch curved 3D HDR OLED TV nearly 3.5 years ago in 2017 and left it with a friend for several months while I was traveling. I told him NOT to spend time playing his stupid games on the TV because of the potential burn-in issue. Did he listen?...of course not. When I came back from my travels and we were watching a NFL game 2 weeks ago...I started to notice rectangular bars in the uppper left corner whenever the background was a bright red or orange. I knew then that my friend had basically destroyed my very expensive OLED TV by playing games on it. I didn't realize just how bad it was until a commercial came on with about 70% of the background a bright orange. I was SHOCKED just how bad he ruined my TV with his ridiculous game (The Show baseball game). The part that really infuriates me is I've always been a big fan of 3D and have several Bluray movies in 3D BUT TV manufacturers have pretty much moved away from making any more 3D TVs a few years ago. This TV had everything I wanted in a TV only to be destroyed by The Show baseball game. I'd even be willing to pay for a new replacement panel but I have a feeling there aren't any LG curved 3D replacement panels left for this TV. But all that said...LG should have been up front about the limitations of this technology knowing that gaming is a very popular activity on large screen TVs. Instead...they sold me on a TV that creates an incredible picture but a TV you have to handle with extreme care or pay the price of OLED screen burn-in. That's a price too high when you pay over 3K for a TV!
@MikkoRantalainen
@MikkoRantalainen 3 жыл бұрын
Current OLED technology should be used only if you're willing to pay around $1 per hour the TV is on. If that sounds too expensive for you, do not use OLED for any display. And if you want perfect picture quality with zero burn in, the cost should be considered to be around $5 per hour. Basically, if you want to know how much does it cost, OLED is not correct choice for you. If you don't need perfect picture, LCD is fine. If you want perfect picture you have to keep replacing the panels because after you have even a little burn-in, the picture is not perfect anymore.

Pixel refresh did not fix mine :-( UPDATE: I checked my warranty it does actually cover burn in. Best Buy came through and replaced the panel. So glad I bought that warranty. It was a 5 year warranty I bought for it so I still have 3.5 years left on it. They said If the tv were to be replaced it would have ate up the whole warranty !!! SECOND UPDATE 6/29/20 The screen again is getting burn in. I have had several led tvs and not a single one has ever had any kind of burn in. Don't get me wrong the picture on the OLED is phenomenal but with as easy as burn in keeps happening I think I'm done with OLED until they have a screen that doesn't get burn-in at the drop of a hat !!!

This is just another time consuming and meaningless trash. Do you know that pixel refreshing is wearing the tv a lot? Maybe you should inform people that before they test the pixel refresher 15 times in a row. I can not believe that I got so annoyed by your video that I had to comment it. But when it happens to your tv I think you must know there is this possible way. It’s not assured 100% to work but it’s a possibility to try before repair. I feel honoured to be your 3rd comment in years! You should do it more often also on the things you like. Thanks for stopping by hope to see your comments on other of my videos!

@@ShadesOfTech What you had is Called temporary image retention, I must admit it looks very bad. And in your case, that's when you can use the panel update, before calling for a repair. I have very rarely seen quick image retention on my Sony Oleds if showing same picture for About one minute, not as bad as yours, and it disappeared within few seconds after, and thats how OLED technology works, the technology has only improved now though, and burn in is more or less a scrune.
