==============================================
- Point your traditional remote directly at the infrared sensor on the TV.

- Press [1], [2], [3], [4] to enter the service menu without resetting your regular menu settings.

That APL issued should be resolved through a firmware update. These are very expensive premium TVs and having the image quality degrade to such a poor level is unacceptable at this price level. Why should you have to void your warranty to watch a show as intended.

You may thank Samsung for overly hyping the "OLED burn in" issue since 2018 ... resulting in about every second post in comment sections was about OLEDs "massive" ... lol ... risk for burn in ... plus all these users cutting off the power supply after having the tv switched off resulting in the "pixel refresher" wasn't able to do it's job. Now all OEMs are extremely anxious and cautious and trying to avoid "burn in" by any means. As a result they are all overshooting the mark now !

So in other words all these anomalies are caused by manufacturer's OLED burn in protections. So if you want the best picture your OLED can outpput you have to essentially risk voiding your warranty and an increased risk of burn in. This is why I am reluctant to get an OLED TV.

I find it hard to believe that such a fundamental flaw as that dimming is so very rarely mentioned in reviews. Forget LCD local dimming halo-ing, this is on a different level of annoyance! Entering the service menu really is not a good option. How can OLEDs receive so much praise when they have such fundamental flaws? We hear about how burn in is not really an issue anymore? Well the sticking plaster that has been applied to handle it really means it hasn't been handled at all!

Another excellent video. Nice to see such a wide range of configuration being covered with right advice on usage provided, as it is purely user discretion what inherent post processing person will use. It is there for user experience and pushing superior image quality past predefined boundaries. Less is more, although I wouldn't be afraid to use highest setting available and or nothing at all dependant on type of content viewed. Should also cover PC mode where TruMotion is limited exclusively to BFI for lowest input lag. Turn screen shift on and off every time, on older firmware I noticed this setting would still automatically apply itself even when disabled

I noticed this issue on Diablo 2 Resurrected for the PS5. It would get gradually darker while playing until I could not tell what was going on. So I had to press the home button and find a bright screen to "reset" it. Then in Cyberpunk the inventory menu would do the same thing but much faster. I knew I had to disable it because it made these two games unplayable and was giving me (literal) headaches. I am glad you made a video about it though. I had to find info on a forum and got the remote off of Amazon for like $9. Best purchase I've made in a long time. I only use my TV 1 to 2 hours a night at most so I am not worried about burn in.

That “strobing effect” on OLEDs for panning shots became really apparent to me when watching Army Of The Dead and there was a panning shot of an abandoned Las Vegas. You couldn’t even make out what you were seeing it was so bad. This was on my LG C9, and the only way to fix it was with the trumotion setting enabled. This isn't just an HDR issue. My 65C6P from 2016 started doing this recently after a firmware update auto applied itself. It's not HDR, and nor is it getting any HDR signal sent to it. It's pretty annoying - good when I forget to shut the TV off and it sits there at the menu of my media player, but bad when you're watching a show that has some static-ish content for a few minutes and it starts to dim. @ChrisJ Fox kind of but it's better than taking a chance on bricking your tv or even worse, having a TV breakdown under warranty but then when they come to repair it the service man finds you tampered with the technician menu and then relay that to LG and then they deny to cover your tv repair cost! Remember, the ABL is only bad if you have a super dark scene that lasts for more than a couple of minutes. As soon as the scene changes to a brighter one, ABL will raise back to normal. On my TV I've only had bad ABL twice and I've had my TV for nearly 2 years now. So this problem is very rare and fixes itself quickly when the scene changes as I mentioned above. Far from a deal breaker. I love my CX!

Great video, thanks Vincent. I turned off TPC on my C1 last week, it bothered me to no end. It wasn't fully clear to me how GSR worked so I left that on, I didn't know it dimmed the whole screen. I'm fine with the HUD being dimmed, in fact that feature soothes my fear of burn in a bit. Would turning GSR off and setting Adjust Logo Brightness to Low/High be the best option for me? Or does GSR disable logo dimming altogether? And when does the tv even consider something a logo? Most HUDs aren't fully static after all (bullet count, health/stamina bar, minimap). I'd appreciate some help with this

I have a huge issue with the 24p stutters in slow camera movements, and am not as happy with my Oled as I have been with my LED in that regard. Another anomaly that I found in my LG C1 are some brighter spots of dark grey colors which is very visible in certain moments, most of the time in movies. Those brighter spots are to be found in the edges with my LG C1, which bothers me a lot. On the other hand, my C1 has some advantages over the TVs I owned before, so it‘s a double-edged sword, but in the end far from perfect. The next TV I‘m getting will be a certain LED model again (QLED probably) and hopefully its weaknesses won‘t bother me too much…

I have always disabled TPC and GSR on my LG OLEDs. I live in Germany and a service partner technician from LG swapped my panel two times and I turned TPC and GSR back on when he came. No problem whatsoever. They always go into the service menu, but for other reasons. In terms of chrominance overshoot. I haven't seen any overshoot on my few weeks old 77C2 so far in various torture scenes. For me the C2/G2 is the best WRGB OLED to this date. I have the Sony 55A80J, LG 48C1 and had the 65C9 with two swapped panels (because of vertical banding). My 77C2 also has the best uniformity I have ever seen on any of my OLEDs.

@@agl10 In retrospect, it was just stupid and a waste of resources, which I'm not proud of. Shortly before the end of the warranty period, I had my panel replaced because I wanted to sell the 65C9. Thought I could get a little extra cash with a brand new panel. But the new panel was a disaster in terms of vertical banding. So I had to have the panel replaced a second time, which was fine in terms of vertical banding (my original panel was fine too). But since then I've noticed a "bug" which randomly often appeard where you saw ugly gradations in the near black area especially in low bit rate content. So at the end I didn't sell the TV to anybody and instead gave it to my cousin for free.

I am still trying to figure out the grainy look on some areas of a scene. Usually it occurs with scenes that have been enhances with HDR or non-HDR scenes that use dynamic shading to simulate a lighting reflection effect. One example, for Metroid Dread owners, areas that have simulated lighting and dust shimmering, it can get very grainy in those spots while the rest of the picture looks fantastic. Another example, for One Piece fans, when Eustass Kid uses his Devil Fruit power in the Wano Arc, represented by a magnetic field apecial effect. The dynamic special effect turns into a transparent veil of graininess, while areas not covered in the effect appear fine. One more example of this graininess is when watching Zack Snyder’s Justice League from a 4k BR disc. Some scenes look sharp, then the lighting changes and the image quality it switches to High Grain Mode.

I am currently testing LG C3 as a gaming monitor, and I gotta say that the thing is a contrast rollercoaster. It is both too dark and too bright and too pale and vibrant at the same time in an uncomfortable way. I did everything internet suggested. White point to 50, disable dynamic stuff, different modes, etc. RDR 2 in SDR is a weird dark show, and with HDR it is kinda ok but not "right" and borderline dark + overexposed in a sick twisted wat. I don't want to destroy my eyes, thinking of returning it. Also the image smoothing tech is cool, but it works only in native res (PC) and 30 Hz, and not usable for gaming. I guess the algorithm was trained on television samples only. And thanks to you I know now that the most crucial settings are locked with some extra fricking thing that I gotta buy + possibly void the warranty and also get a burn-in served in a while. Seems OLED is "better with burn-in's" only cuz of these counterproductive hidden locks they placed such that the TV underperforms as hell. It's just too dark and weird. The only good thing I can say - the 120 Hz framerate is solid. But I really doubt that those dark eye gauging flashbanging strobing contrasts of OLED are long term good for the eyes. So unnaturally powerful in a bad way. So confused with this product.

These interpolation filters are the best thing modern tvs have. I use everything set to maximum. No slideshow movies anymore.

I set my C1 to cinematic movement and I occasionally noticed some SOE so I turned it back off. Some time later after the judder was continuing to bug me I turned the setting back on and just left it on. It wasn't very long before I got fully used to it, I never notice any SOE now.

Almost bought a new C2 because i thought this was a flaw of my old B6 oled TV. Would have been very dissapointed to see this issue hasn’ t been taken care of, even after six years. Thank you so much for all this helpfull infomation Vincent 🙏

@@Sandsmell Yes i think they are affected with this matter aswell. Maybe i’ll buy one later this year when they are cheaper and then i’ll go in the service menu just like Vincent said.
