Liam doesn’t know ELO? That’s what the Beatles would have literally sounded like if they stayed together. Even Paul said it

John said it, not the Fabs. And Jeff Lynne, who essentially took the concept of Sgt Pepper and ran with it. At the beginning it was a Karaoke with 10538 Overture too close to Dear Prudence and George Harrison's use of step down notes deployed in several songs including Something. Lynne's other big influence was Roy Orbison and you can hear that in many ELO songs. But he did mature into a great all round musician, writer and producer who has worked his butt off and still does. Liam isn't particularly educated about the Fabs or music in general. He is a natural who gravitated to John Lennon's voice and personality - it turned him on and he isn't unique in that. So many take a lead from the man.

Would love to know what Liam and Noel thought of Dire Straits and particularly Mark Knopfler as a guitarist

Well the good thing about bands like Oasis and Blur is they replaced garbage like Dire Straits, guys wearing headbands and making music for prematurely ageing guys. Knopfler is a fine guitarist for sure but that's the only good thing to be said about the band
@jonathanward732012 күн бұрын
@@Two_Seat_Pete_FatA55 Strange comment, you say Dire Straits were garbage and were making music for aging men, but an album like brothers in arms released only 9 years before Definitely maybe, became the 8th biggest selling album of all time. Are you suggesting 30 million people that bought that album were only aging men and it was never popular with anyone else other than that demographic? Absolute nonsense. And another thing, MTV chose Dire Straits to launch their flagship music video channel with money for nothing, because they were very popular with a lot of young people at that time, MTV could’ve used the smiths, U2, Duran Duran, INXS, depeche mode etc, but they chose Dire Straits because they were very popular with all audiences, not just aging men as you seem to think.
@Two_Seat_Pete_FatA5512 күн бұрын
@jonathanward7320 I said prematurely ageing men, so guys in their 20s that look and act 40. But they did also appeal to middle aged men. I get it, you're a super fan, but music got much better when balding headband wearing boring bands like them were left behind.
@jonathanward732012 күн бұрын
@@Two_Seat_Pete_FatA55 the question still stands, does ‘prematurely’ aging men & aging men make up 30 million album sales or did they actually appeal to a mass audience instead? And trust me I’m not a super fan, I like Mark Knopfler because his tune going home plays at the start of every Newcastle match at St James’s Park. I’m simply wanting to know what Noel or Liam thought of DS and MK in particular because I can’t find anything on google that shows their opinion, I just find it interesting 🤷🏻♂️
