In regards to Opera Omina, I’d say it’s a better version of Fate/GO in that you are able to PLAY and level up ALL characters but the gatcha is limited to weapons and materials. Overall, ff is a less horrible than a lot of mobile games.

Have you played WoFF fully? You've had references to it a few times now... I'd love to see a video on it; it was overlooked in its time, but has good gameplay with real challenge available, and if you are mislead by the cutesy appearance the real AF story is going to gut punch you. Seems like plenty of content for a video, and doesn't involve 3 different systems!

I don't even particularly care for OP but the game was super fun to play in part because of the wide variety of characters. I like how they dealt with upgraded versions of the characters and I feel like that mechanic would work really as a way to bring over the job system that's in some of the games. It could be really interesting and I'd probably buy it regardless tbh... Now we just need to petition Squeenix to give us a Musou lol.

Part of the intent of making it team-based is dilution of responsibility, where if things go wrong you can mentally blame your teammates that one time and go back to try again - the likes of League of Legends do it. Kinda funny that Duodecim let you make a custom mode where you can set up a sudden death with massive EXP gain. Go in with a level 1 character against level 100 Gabranth. One shot him instantly for mass level gains while he can't even hurt you without EX Mode, in the off chance you miss. Probably the easiest level grinding method in a final fantasy.

@@aliciafraser1835 I don't know about your luck, but I've been playing Opera Omnia since day Global's release and I keep up pretty well. The game is actually very generous with gems and tickets needed for the Gatcha, and the Gatcha itself is really not bad at all. I'm a semi-F2P (I only spend money for some alternate outfits). @@aliciafraser1835 That's not exactly true. All gacha games are insidious to some degree, but DFFOO is by far the most generous of its type that I've ever played. You would literally have to spend hundreds in order to get the same amount of gems that you can get by completing a single month's worth of content. I've been playing since release, there is very little content I haven't completed and while I have bought a few costumes, the ratio of paid to free gems is like a drop in the ocean. I have upwards of 30 EX weapons (I admit my luck is above average, it does help) and am currently sitting on a stash of 412k gems and 350 or so tickets, waiting for the introduction of CHAOS and EX+. The system has continued to improve now that there is a hard cap of 75k gems per EX weapon on any given banner, which was introduced earlier in the Global version. That said, I'm sorry to hear you've had bad experiences with the game. But compared to most mobile P2W garbage out there, I've had a lot of enjoyment out of Opera Omnia. Enough that it's the only game I've actually uploaded footage of so far, lol.

@Drusain
@Drusain 4 жыл бұрын
One of my favorite story moments in Opera Omnia was Seifer meeting Laguna and gushing all over Laguna and saying that he started learning about gunblades because he watched Laguna’s dumb movie with the red dragon. I don’t know if that was something I missed that was in the original FF8 game, but if it wasn’t, that was a really fun addition to the story for me. I’ve been enjoying the game a lot, but it’s frustrating to me to not be able to recommend it because you don’t know how impulsive a friend might be and as “fair” as the gacha is, it’s still something that allows you to empty your bank account which no game should.

I think it's hinted at once in a missable scene, and the way Seifer holds his gunblade is the same way Laguna does in the movie scene, which is a nice touch.

There are a lot of scenes in Opera Omnia that made the thing we want happening. Jecht and Auron together, the meet-up of Ivalice Alliance heroes, Gilgamesh finally has a fight against Exdeath, Eternal Calm-era characters having a reunion with the deceased Sin-era characters, and finally a conversation between post-mortem characters and living characters. For the issue of needing money for the rare weapons, you usually need one or more of these following: 1) Know about the JP version, which has 8-9 months ahead on its content. 2) Manage your resources 3) Make sure you have characters that can carry you throughout the era of the game (Cloud and WoL would carry you in early Chaos Era). This is a Gacha Game that is not burdened by rarity of items, and farming the currency of this game (in this case is Gem). I am F2P Day 1 player with the knowledge on JP version. I have now 32 EX, with a lot of them would carry me in Chaos difficulty Era.
@Nekufan1000000
@Nekufan1000000 4 жыл бұрын
The fault with Gacha games entirely, Ray, is that you got lucky. That's ... that's it. You got all this stuff by managing your resources, but I know players of many gacha games that spend money and aren't on par with lucky F2P players. That's the nature of a Gacha game.
@rayjohnnercacao3703
@rayjohnnercacao3703 4 жыл бұрын
@@Nekufan1000000 Unlike other other Gacha Games, this game is beatable even for those who played it for 1 month. I just saw players managing to complete Chaos difficulty, the next difficulty after Cosmos, with minimum characters they have. Usually the JP players have a struggling part as they have to go through this game blindly without knowing who are the meta right now. This is the game where they have a feature that ensures you obtain the specific item. I have a Gacha Game where I do it similarly to this game. But because they don't have that feature, all my currency (that I saved it for 3 months) of that game just spent without getting the unit I wanted (in my case is Rudolf Lucia, an Event-only unit on Guardian Hunter). I was overwhelmed for not getting that unit that would really save me from going inferiority. For this game, hold your Gems for 1 month and you earned enough of it to ensure you get the EX Weapon you want. You can even get EX Weapon from just tickets or EX Token (from the Event-only Start Dash and later in the future, Farthest Ends of Dimension). This is just even without having a knowledge on another version that was 8 months ahead of its content.

Ray John Ner Cacao This video motivated me to redownload OO, and WOW is it friendly for f2p people. There is so much in here to get new people up to speed, from past characters being permanently available, to no stamina system, to infinite Crystal farming, I had no trouble getting up to speed. I downloaded the game and, in a matter of about 7 hours, got MULTIPLE characters to the level cap, almost maxed their Crystal strength, and, through good gem management, got a good amount of EX and 5* weapons. I was even able to SOLO the current multiplayer focused event raid, fighting a level 70 boss with a team of level 50s. This is an INCREDIBLY friendly gacha game, not to mention the stellar writing and music, with good presentation. This is one of very few mobile games I can legitimately recommend to people.

The icing on the cake was when my long, long, long held wish for Beatrix in Dissidia was fulfilled out of the blue by this game. And global even got her before Japan, apparently. So I finally got to have a FF party with Beatrix and Sephiroth in it, which is really all I ever wanted. Auron and Vincent too. All the character interactions are great, really. I'm really in love with Opera Omnia. The same thing that happened to Kuja actually happened to Ace, making him even resent Machina for surviving in Type-0. Eald'nache one of the villians from FFXI reveals that his plan is to use the concepts and rules from the world of Dissidia for his advantage, saying that there is a purpose for characters remembering that they have died in their own worlds. Since they're dead in their own worlds but alive in the Dissidia world, it means that when everything is over and everyone returns to their respective worlds they would return to the point in time when they were still alive; if they could find a way while in the Dissidia world to keep their memories when they return to their own world they could have a 'second chance' to 'make things right'.

The best part is that Shantotto's absence during her mini-expansion in XI plays well with her presence in Dissidia, where her motivation other than escaping is researching an "ultimate spell", which might as well be multiversal travelling, something useful if XI ever shuts down, and something she's acting on since she's the XI character in the most crossovers (again, because of Dissidia, because before that SE never really bothered to present XI characters to people not already playing it).

I've played Opera Omnia since the game came out globally and I haven't spent a penny. I can confirm that the gems don't stop flowing to you, there are always more ways to get some (as well as tickets). Money is NOT needed to play and do everything the game to it's fullest. Sometimes I forget you can spend money in the game because I NEVER find myself wishing I could "hurry things up" or feel that I'm "missing something" . I recommend giving it a go.

You get it Clemps, if I wasn't piss poor I'd expunge my wallet into your Patreon, a friend introduced me to your channel and I truly wish I could sometime sit and discuss so many of these topics for at least 10 minutes or so, but instead of just rambling on about how much I've appreciated subscribing to you, I'll just say this; Thank you for making such amusing and amazing content over games I adore so far, even ones I didn't think I'd want to play, love your work and your cleaning gloves wearing self, and I will more than gladly wait any amount of time needed if it means a good quality video from you again. Take care, and keep on being you.

I noticed you'd mention D:FFOO Early in the review, and just thought you'd rip on it without really diving in (I'll admit that I'm a fan of it because a few of my friends play it), but then I took a second to pause and look through your roster. You've played for a hot minute there. A 70/70 character, and quite a few 60/60s takes time, and I'm glad to see that. It makes your review sound more genuine, not just a cliffnotes version. And your review of all of the games was fair and honest. This is the first video of yours I've seen and I've frankly seen enough to subscribe. Cheers, and maybe I'll see you in a raid sometime!

Two years on, let's not forget that young Wakka spoke Tidus' name in the first Kingdom Hearts. You only hear it on the second day on Destiny Islands, and you could technically skip over this tidbit if you don't ever interact with him, but it's there. Just thought I'd throw that out there. Also, obligatory comment about praying to the gods for a proper follow up to Duodecim on console or PC. Closest we got is emulating it, which is great now, but I want a fresh release, and preferrably some easier way to add your own music in game. Nice video btw!

There’s literally no reason to own the original anymore since Duodecim includes the ENTIRE first game, plus a second game on top of it. It’s a 2-for-one deal, and you can transfer your character progress from the original to 012. So you can go into the game with level 100 characters from the get-go

Dissidia, a game that brings back alot of fond memories. I remember getting a psp for christmas and Dissidia (The first one) Just came out. So I got that game alongside it. I've sank hours into it, maxing all the characters, getting all the special good gear. Also, at that time, I used my psp for radio purposes at night. And I remember faithfully, that one night I found Final Fantasy Radio, by total accident. Finding it had a chatroom and a music radio + stream dedicated to 24/7 Final Fantasy stuff. Unfortunately that time has passed and the place has died down. But Everytime I see my copy of Dissidia I think back to the days I spent there, listening idly to the streams while playing Dissidia. Thanks for this amazing video! It was fun to see you talk so loving about FF9, my alltime favorite and first FF ever.

Record Keeper and Brave Exvius use them, and IIRC they have completely different classes in each. One of them is also in WoFF IIRC. I still think it's a good thing Dissidia went with Onion Knight - the 1st, 3rd, 11th and 14th FF put you in control of "blank" characters you get to make, and while named protagonists are more marketable, "blank" player characters are still an important part of series history and can be put to interesting use.

@@cobaltdeleon This is from my other comment. Sorry for the late response. I play NT competitively, so I think I can give a different perspective here. Keep in mind that im heavily biased as I absolutely love this game. First off, this game is a discord fighter. The playerbase is too small for the ranked mode to reliably give you good matches, you have to organise your own. But even then, the game is very unstable when it comes to lag and disconnects. That and the very steep learning curve mean that its really really hard to get into the game. You basically have to join a new community and get your butt kicked for weeks until you are somewhat competent at the game. There is also the problem of people expecting the game to be like the old dissidia games when it really is more like a fighting game. There are fun modes here and there, but most of your time should be spent online, fighting real players. Once you do that however, the game is insanely fun. The 3v3 aspect brings in a lot of complexity and depth to dive into. You can play a character for weeks straight and still not be great at them as there is just so much to learn. Switch up your team composition and there is yet more to learn. And the most important thing of all, once you cross all the hurdles: Get a smooth match, find a permanent team to train with and get competent enough to appreciate the finer details of the combat system (Frame data, memorising dodge timings for HPs, learning to defend yourself safely etc.), it is actually insanely fun. There is just nothing like it. Saying the game has little replayability totally misses the point. Replayability comes from wanting to get better at the game, joining communities and tournaments etc. Its the exact same with normal fighting games. If doing these things doesn't interest you, then the game simply isn't for you. But that is sort of the problem, not a single reviewer actually bothered to go through all these steps and give a meaningful review. Every single reviewer so far consumed the game on a casual level. And on a casual level, the game is objectively trash: Ranked is dead, there is not a lot of content and it just looks like a button masher. This is why no one except the die hard fans seem to like this weird game. But when you go through the trouble and actually learn and play the game in the way its supposed to be played, its such a good pvp experience.

Despite not being much of a Final Fantasy guy, I *am* however a huge fan of crossovers. Even for franchises I don't have much initial interest in. While I was vaguely familiar with Final Fantasy at the time, I became very interested in Dissidia when it was announced and it was the game that made me get a PSP, (a system that I pretty much ended up only playing Square games on, thinking back to it). So yeah, Dissidia was kind of my gateway to Final Fantasy as a whole, (aside from Kingdom Hearts), and got me interested in the larger franchise. And while I still haven't played anywhere close to even a lot of the games in the franchise, I do pay attention to it a lot more because of Dissidia.

Awesome video Clemps! Dissidia has always been one of my favorite spin off series ever. I did more or less the same thing saving up to get a PSP just so I could play the first two games. Dissidia NT is fun, but is fora very different audience for sure. (I do still enjoy it though.) I haven't had the chance to play much of Opera Omnia yet, but I have heard very good things from it. (This video also just cementing that fact. Dissidia was also how i first got introduced to characters from Final Fantasy games that weren't 4, 7, 8, 9, and 10. I had never even heard of Kefka, Exdeath, The Cloud of Darkness, or anything like that until this game. Bottom line, this game is a wonderful crossover game that does it right. I'd love to see more games in this series, and I feel like they could do it beautifully if they just take what made all the games great and mix it all together. Thanks again for the vid shining a spotlight on this series that needs more recognition.
