That was a good video. Between me and my Twin brother we have had 8 Jeep Wrangler’s overs the years. We have our eyes set on a pair of Gladiator’s now.

On the old cars the torque converter even had a drain plug in it. I got a truck pan for the 727 I put in the Dart but I had already put a aftermarket drain plug in the old pan. I serviced the transmission on the Neon when I first got it, fluid and filter and it never had a problem till the engine finally tossed the belt at almost 190k.

I remember I leased a brand new 2000 Dodge Intrepid and the check engine light came on after 1,000 miles 😂

I always tell people the clutch material wears out the same way that brake friction material wears out. It's a whole lot easier to change brakes though

I just checked the owners manual of my 2015 200 3.6. "Under normal operating conditions, the fluid installed at the factory will provide satisfactory lubrication for the life of the vehicle." I know everyone always says for the life of the transmission (especially Scotty), but this specifically says "life of the vehicle."

Let's stick to what scotty says. "How long is the warranty period?" You think Stellantis will do anything for your 8yr old vehicle when it does have problems. Hell no, so keep up to date on servicing your transmission.

Also just like you said, pay attention to those 'normal operating conditions', most times I've seen those words it's usually defined by spending majority of your time on the highway with very little city driving and no drastic climate changes or you're essentially disqualified for those 'normal operating conditions'.

Sup JT, this video is perfect timing. I was just thinking about doing a transmission service on my '15 200, but I see that's not gonna be a DIY job. For the drain and fill, how much fluid came out when you pulled the plug? And any special tools needed to remove the fill plug? It looked pretty tight.

ATF and Filter should be changed every 2 years / 50,000 Kilometres. Torque converter flush most mechanics wont do it on new cars sadly. Mobile 1 ATF is mostly used in USA garages and workshops ? In Australia Castrol ATF and Penrite ATF is used mostly in garages.

You mean Valvoline and Castrol for the USA. Mobil 1 is what the Euro trash uses. Flushing a transmission almost always ends with a dead transmission. That's why no one does it anymore.

I don't pay attention to the algorithm. I use amsoil and I'll change my oil every 5000 to 6000 miles. I changed the fluid in my 9 speed at 33000 miles and I'm going to do it at around 63000. I used Mobil 1 lv hp fluid in my 9 speed

What is the main difference in the ZF version and the 948TE transmission and are they interchangeable? I’m trying to replace my 2021 jeep compass transmission but only have a 2018 and can’t find any info online if the 2018 won’t work on my 21. PlZzz help can’t find any answers online

Lifetime fluid is a real thing. You never have to change the fluid. What they dont tell you is that the "lifetime" of the transmission will only be 75K miles if you dont.

I seen people use Amsoil. I hear zf approved one of their products. I have never used Amsoil Curious yet thoughts on such?

When doing there own When drop tran pan after drain out leave pan up let sit over night to drain to get max tran fluid out possible

Was this car a trade-in at the dealership you work at? I knew a guy who worked at Lou Sobh he bought some nice cars that needed major work, (engine or transmission) but it was no big deal for him.

Shoot. Never assume anything. Especially that it was full bc there wasn’t any leaks.

@@OnlineMechanicTips true true. So I def wouldn’t assume it wouldn’t be correct. I too even go by the rule of thumb that if there’s no problems and no visible leaks the levels are most likely ok. I’ve just seen a lot of weird things in my time of turning wrenches so in an instant like that I’d prob just spend the extra time and go thru the procedure to make sure the level is correct bc never know if it was a Friday afternoon when the manufacture was finishing it off and left it a quart low. But then again it might be a Friday afternoon when I was doing that fluid job and I might say the heck with it and just add what I took out also 🤣

Witam, piszę z Polski i proszę o fachową poradę dotyczącą wymiany oleju w przekładni 9HP48. Dotyczy Jeep Renegade, przebieg 90000 km, serwis autoryzowany (Fiat -Chrysler) twierdzi że oleju w tej przekładni się nie wymienia w całym okresie eksploatacji. Ta przekładnia nie ma dostępu do filtra bez jej wyjęcia i rozebrania. Pytania - wymienić olej metodą statyczną czy dynamiczną? Co z filtrem ? Tu w Polsce każdy mówi co innego i już nie wiadomo kto ma rację? Będę wdzięczny za fachową poradę, jak to się obsługuje w USA.

DO NOT USE anything but OEM fluid in these! Do NOT LISTEN TO HIM! Well, listen to him if you want to buy a 6,000.00 transmission. You also cannot change these filters. You literally have to remove the transmission and rebuild it to change the filter. This guy is stupid.
