Lift Your Truck for Free via a T Bar Crank (torsion bar)

How to lift a truck. This video shows you how to lift your truck with torsion bars also known as a T bar lift.
This tbar lift is done on a 2001 Mazda B3000 / Ford Ranger. You will need an alignment afterwards because of the angle change in the suspension. Tighten the tbar screw to lift the truck, loosen to lower the truck. I got a 1.5in lift and my C/V joint angle is only at a 5 degree angle so it should be fine with minimal wear.

I didnt turn them all the way as you saw in the video so it isnt maxed. As long as you do what was done in the video you should be fine. You can do it a few ways. On my truck it was already lifted from the factory so lifting the front balanced it out (this is the case on most factory lifted trucks). One way to lift the rear is to add an extra leaf to the leaf springs. This is typically more complicated. So the easier way is to add a block (aka spacer) between the leaf springs and where the leaf spring rests on the rear differential. They sell them and they are relatively cheap.
@BlessedVet
@BlessedVet 2 жыл бұрын
Do you have a specific brand or material? Some companies are switching to aluminum but im not sure the long term turn out would be. Because of the shipping problems in getting steel into the country. Or just say f it and go with rough country and save all the headache lol watched your leaf spring video. So you answered my question.

All of our vehicles are going to be in great condition after all these shutdowns! I'm in Seattle, during December 2020 with a current shutdown, but Autozone is open so I'm tinkering. Painted my wheel wells and everything else with the rust reformer and the undercoating, but I hosed it all down with WD-40 and let it ride like that for a week. Went to the carwash and pressure washed wheel wells, and undercarriage twice with hot water, soap, and then rinse with hot water ✌ times. Drove home and it was dry, applied rust reformer, then waited till the next day to apply undercarriage coating. Came out better then new! Even kinda looks like aftermarket custom parts because it looks so good, at least to a random girl that likes my truck lol. I did both tie rod ends for cheap, and it was so easy after watching your video! 👌 Tomorrow I'm detailing the inside interior of my lifted 2007 ford f150 5.4 3v, and i will do the engine bay, same vehicle I restored undercarriage, and replaced tie rods on with your directionsin your videos. I'm looking to see if you have a video on exhaust upgrade without out a welder, and truck bed restoration that has been spray lined, and has faded over time, and has small damage. I have true dual exhaust that has gotten rusty, and I'm starting to pop holes in the sucker romping around lol Some of the exhaust mounts rusted and broke, and created holes in exhaust where mounts made contact. About to search for those now! Thanks dude for explaining thing's in the right order, and giving us the information we need with no more and no less then what we need to hear. Keeping us busy during shutdowns 👨‍🔧👨‍🏭 got me paint brushing the interior of my truck 😂

Does the explorer have torsion bars? If so, do this lift for the front. Is the rear end on leaf springs? If so, you can buy these shackles (blocks) that lift it and they are typically cheap. To give you an idea, my truck has 31s on it. I would think twice before you get bigger tires because then your speedometer will be off and you could easily be speeding when you dont mean to.

Also worth mentioning, under no circumstances should you lower a IFS vehicle without proper mods done, my 01 Explorer always sat level, and ate CV axles, I found recently that, in comparison to the wrecked 99, it was lowered 2 inches in the front, I put the front end back stock, and it hasn't needed any more axles, and it drives a lot better and looks a ton better, besides that, room for 31s, it's a solid win

Should be driven via cable to transmission. If so, you remove that cable and on the end of it you will find a small cylindrical gear. That gear is what "calibrates" your wheel/tyre revolution-to-speedo needle position ratio. You're welcome.

nice video. But let me correct ya. you did everything correctly. but.. should make sure the tires are the right size. And treads are about the same, left to right. on the front. check air pressure, make sure the psi are equall then take measurement. And when you adjust the tordions. you want to be the same height right to left, or left to right. you don't have to make equal adjustments. Your goal is to raise the front end. and level it so your not sagging on one or the other side. best way is to crank on torsions. get it raised where you want it, and at the same time, keep it the same height from left to right, or vise versa. And if you want to get picky. then you can crank the driver side torsion a bit higher than the passenger side to compensate for driver weight. when you have a heavier driver, it will help. but it only takes about 3/8 to 1/2 inch higher. at the most.ans get the alignment done, right away.
