Wow I feel pretty stupid for writing the comment I wrote 7 months ago. I said that Maya was younger now than Shawn was when Mr. Turner was his guardian. Boy was I wrong about that. I'm currently watching BMW in order and I just finished the 5th season. Shawn was the same age as Maya, so I feel stupid for saying that before. However, I don't think it's fair to say that Shawn isn't his own person anymore, JUST because he married Katy.

They changed him SO much....And one of the things I hated most was how they made his character all of the sudden not like Angela? How they made him say that he never really liked Angela basically and was only dating her because he "thought he was supposed to because of how Cory and Topanga made him think that". Girl Meets World RUINED alot of Boy Meets World history. I honestly would be just fine if Girl Meets World never happened. It would be better than seeing some of your favorite characters of all time be ruined before your very eyes...

Sarah Sepanski When Shawn said about how he dated Angela because he thought he was supposed to, I thought it sorta meant more like this: Shawn was always against proper commitment. He went from one girl to another, breaking up with them so they didn't have the chance to break up with him and hurt him. Then when he found Angela's purse, he literally said "I'd give her two weeks." So he was still kinda against a committed relationship and all. But then Cory and Topanga pressured him into trying for commitment and he finally agreed. I mean, Shawn and Angela literally based their relationship off wanting what Cory and Topanga had. That *did* change and I loved their relationship. But there were a lot of times where either Shawn said something like "I'm never gonna have what you guys have." or where Cory says "I want Shawn and Angela to have what we have." Cory was still putting that pressure on Shawn to "have what they have." and all that. He *did* think he was supposed to love Angela. And I am never gonna say that he didn't. (Though I do think that went too fast. Literally, it was said that Shawn was in love before they even went on their first date... People say Shawn and Katy were too fast, but they really weren't. They met season 1 and Shawn admitted he was in love in season 3...) But anyway. Shawn did think he was supposed to love Angela, because Cory was always saying how much he wanted him to have what he had and all that, and that put a lot of pressure on him. I kinda believe that's one of the reasons they didn't work. Because they based their relationship off their best friends at first and tried to build off that and they had the constant pressure to be just as perfect as them, ya know. Obviously I love their relationship, but I think I get what they meant when they said things like that... And I get why they didn't end up together. *NOT ALL HIGH SCHOOL/COLLEGE RELATIONSHIPS END IN MARRIAGE! PEOPLE OFTEN HAVE MORE THAN ONE LOVE IN THEIR LIFE AND HAVING 2 RELATIONSHIPS THAT JUST LAST FROM HIGHSCHOOL TO MARRIAGE WOULD BE WAY TOO UNREALISTIC!*

Thomas Taliaferro- Shawn I think would be the closest character to Barney Stinson because of their fear of commitment, family issues, and womanizing ways. You're spot on with Cory and Topanga being Marshall and Lilly. Eric would probably be Ted. Angela would have made a great Robin as well.

The shows tries to hard to be deep and it makes it seem really cringy

She doesn't have a lot of faith because not many people are there for her. Her father walked out on her, so when the guy she sees as a father figure has the slightest inkling that he may not be there for her, she loses hope and gives up because a that's all she knows.

@@123videos456 but it isn’t the same Cory is Riley’s father and she knows that. Cory doesn’t treat Maya the same way he does Riley. But with Shawn he put the effort to bring mayas mom to her birthday so Maya didn’t feel like she had nobody and in turn Maya felt like Shawn could be there for them. Because she’s a kid.

@@shofisstar I agree. Just like Cory's dad was there for shawn, but it was cory's father, not his own father. And his mom walked out on them when he was a kid.

May not have been necessary but it makes perfect sense. Katy started to love him because he loved maya. They saw in each other another soul who had similar tragedies and hopelessness. They found healing in each other. It’s not far fetched and in so many ways it’s the only kind of partner I think either could do well with. That kind of pain brings insecurities which can hurt a relationship if the other isn’t understanding of it.

I agree, Shawn is making Angela seem like a bad person when she wasn’t, Shawn showed that he was ok with Angela going with her father to Europe for a YEAR, she didn’t know Shawn was going to propose to her, what Shawn is saying about her makes maya hate her and she shouldn’t

We can't forget that Angela was brought back in a later episode, and we did get a better explanation for their break up. Angela wasn't ready to settle down and have a family with Shawn, like Cory and Topanga had. She was still afraid to take that step because of her mother abandoning her.

@@OneGaurdian Yes but it was still mutual between Shawn and Angela where he suggested she go, and supported her going. It wasn't some big break up, it was him stepping aside so she could do something she'd regret if she didn't go.

It all started when Shawn made that visit during the Christmas episode. Maya was the first contact Shawn had with her and Katie. Shawn saw his life in Maya's and they bonded that quickly, because he knew how unfair it was to her that her father wasn't around.

It was forced really hard. Still enjoyed it especially since the series got.cut short.

They definitely rushed Shawn and Katy, but considering the show was cancelled after a few seasons it was good that they did, for those of us who wanted to see that happy ending.

It wasn't a whole year it was on and off a year then they were together for a few years till Angela went to Europe with her dad and thats what really ended them the distance. And shawn chose to let Angela go because he never got to spend time with his family he wouldn't take that from her. I agree they need to sympathize with him too instead of forcing him to get with her especially so fast like there was no development in their relationship tbh

They could have made Zay Angela's child, who was living with his dad and stepmom. Yet, no one knew who his mom was because she was traveling his entire life. Then Angela comes back to be in his life, and she and Shawn got back together. Maya could have already been his daughter with someone else, or even Shawn and Katie could have been exes that got divorced. Maya could still be herself; as she processes the divorce, she spirals with various antics and emotions. Shawn swears off love, then boom Angela is back. They tried to make GMW was too close to BMW that it was not authentic.

So sorry I’m replying 5 months later but Shawn is not mayas father, but later in the show he does become a stepdad to her because he married her mom, but Shawn never had children that weren’t step children, Shawn used to be with a girl called Angela but she left to go with her father on a trip to Europe for only a year, but Shawn made her seem like a bad person when she wasn’t, Shawn and Katy (mayas mom) didn’t have such chemistry as Angela and Shawn, they were really meant to be together
