Hope u had a gr8 Xmas and a happy New Year. I took my fender stainless pieces and had some rust. I was very upset cause I take great care of my car. I washed it all down. Mine was caused by foam around gas filler assembly and the fender pieces. I got most rust I could and used Ospho. It will stop the rust. I promise you it will. I've used for 3 decades. My Pap used since 60s. For heavy rust I use muratic acid. Then water to stop reaction dry then Ospho. I put a rusted muffler clamp in a butter bowl of muratic for 10 min, water to rid acid, dry then ospho. Still looks perfect and no rust months later. I live in apt complex too so I know it's hard to get things done. We have a area to do work in back but for large jobs I take to shop to do work after hours. I use a leather conditioner on all seats. Mine is a designer with providence leather. It's still soft and supple since 07. I then use 303 over all leather, rubber etc. It will keep it protected and will not attract dust or be slime like armor all. And alot of your cost is just cause you not a redneck grease monkey. Lmfao. Alot of that can be brought down by u doing the work. I know alot about cars and lil about computers. I wish I could find somebody who needs wrenching in trade for electronic repair. But I do all my work. A pair of vice grips could've fixed the shifter cable issue and got u home. I had a VW bug a 72 and throttle cable broke. I used a small pair to grab cable and run throttle to get home. I always hated doing all that work with my family on a farm, working at sawmill or in woods cutting timber but now in my 40s I am so thankful cause they and my dad taught me so much and that's why I can fix about anything and never have used a tow truck. Over heating take cap off and baby home, cable breaks use tools to get home. Car repair costs so much and it's making it hard on all of us. Parts take weeks to get. All this Drive ev and Cash for Clunkers didn't help. We don't have the infrastructure for ev. Hoovies, sam all those guys and gals try to drive ev and it never goes good. Short trips yes a ev is great. I hope u can get many years out of your Town Car. My Pap taught me his formula for rust proofing. 1 quart of any new used oil, 1 of trans fluid new or used, 1 tube of grease gun grease, 1 wax toilet gasket from lowes etc. Mix and melt and u can spray, brush etc. Most fluid film type products that costs alot don't have oil in them, won't last long, when it's scraped it will rust. This wont. It costs $6 using used oil, fluids etc. Did my car last fall. Still no rust, still there. Used this formula on heavy equipment, Farming machinery, trucks, quads just about anything. Need less half all etc. Gotta get the base metal rust free and sealed. The more layers of sealant the better. I use chassis saver, zinc primer, then farm implement paint, Rustoleum, then some kind of oil based wax. Alot of layers but no rust. Rust is my enemy that I fight yearly. If the gr8 state of Pa would use more brains than salt on roads it'd be a easy fight. Lmfao. I'll keep watching as long as u keep making content.

I still miss my Town Car. However, it was costing me quite a bit more to operate compared to my Camry which I do love about as much as my Town Car. Yours still looks like its holding up pretty good.

Hey Vitaliy! Good to see you're still driving your Town Car. As a northerner, I still think its a pretty clean car actually. I'm sure our southern friends would disagree, but its not too bad. My friend still drives around in an 04 Ford Taurus that has basketball sized holes in the floor, literally no rocker panels, and the quarters have huge holes in them. Compared to that thing, your Town Car looks brand new! And that Taurus is still kickin, so who's to say how many more years you could get out of your Town Car. I see Town Cars up here in Michigan all the time with gigantic rot holes around the gas caps, the side cladding falling off because the bottoms of the doors have ceased to exist, and air-suspensions dragging on the ground. Your Town Car is still one of the better examples, I think. I'm glad you're just driving and enjoying the car now. And I hope to see your Town Car still on the channel next year too!

Right on man! You will find the cost of ownership to be less in the future I think because you have had a number of common repairs done. I do recommend you try to get that defrost fixed so it’s perfect. Cheers.

Good to see that you're still doing okay and driving the Lincoln Town car. It is common for the driver side of a vehicle to rust more than the passenger side. I figure there are a couple reasons for this. When salt is spread on roadways it is applied to the driver's side of the lane. Also when you meet on coming vehicles they spray you with that salt brine. That means there is more salt on the drivers side of the lane along with getting splashed from oncoming vehicles. Wishing you and your family all the best in 2023.

Happy New Year to you and your family. It's good to see that your 2006 Town Car is still hanging in there. My 2002 Town Car has been very dependable, and in the past two weeks, I have put over 1,400 miles on it driving from Maryland to south Florida, and back to north Florida. I should knock on wood, because my only expense other than insurance and gas in 2022 was an oil change. I hope you have a great year in 2023!! 😊😊

Ugh ~ $16,000 for ~ 40,000 miles of driving. I sure hope your wife doesn't watch your videos! Owning older cars is a crap shoot. In addition to my beautiful 2006 Presidential Town Car that is in your collaboration video with the GT350 Mustang, I own four other cars. Two years before I bought Mr. President I bought a slightly mechanically tatty 1998 Lincoln Continental from a junk dealer for $1,400. It had 126,000 miles when I bought it, and is now a bit north of 175k miles and it has never left me stranded. You may remember from my comments on your other videos I am in my 60's and have a 624 sq. ft. hobby shop garage that allows me to do almost all of the maintenance and repairs on my own cars. I usually use a shop only in the rare cases that require special tools that I'm not interested in buying for the few times I may need them. The 1998 Continental has been an unexpected reliable surprise, mostly just regular maintenance; gas, oils, tires. Slowly I have serviced the non-functioning parts of the Continental - all things that won't keep it from being driven, but definitely make it somewhat of a beater that I drive one or two days a week. I just replaced its leaking autochromatic inside rear view mirror with a better design that only required minor rewiring to have the map lights, autochromatic feature and maps lights all function correctly. I drove it for a year with non-functioning A/C because of a broken blend door actuator and blown blower motor relay. I wish you and your family a happy 2023, and I hope that someday you can finally buy a house and have your own garage to tinker on your cars and wipe out the tremendous labor costs of owning an older car.

Right on. Doing the work urself and knowing a little bit about basic operation can save 1 so much money. And in our day we had no google. U either had to read a huge manual, or ask ppl that knew. Now any issue is a few clicks away. Unless it's a dead trans, or a piston through block there's not alot u can't get back home from unless urr across the country. It would've been a fraction of that doing own labor. And tow companies will charge u as much if urr a block or 10 miles away. Insane. I help my buddy tow. He charges a standard hook fee depending on how far it is. Where I live call a buddy with a strap or with a truck with a tire strapped to bumper and push me home. Lmao.
