i feel you man it took me almost over 2 months to sell my 2014 ford mustang but don't worry someone will buy it! i feel you on the love for the town cars design it's simple but elegant and old school. i currently own now a 1997 Toyota Cresta a JDM import car that's on the JZX100 platform which is bascially the japanese panther platform ! my cresta is effectly a japanese fusion of the Grand Marquis and Lincoln town car and i love it.

Along with the hood ornament, I think one of the best things about these cars is having the latch to open the hood pop out of the grille. Whoever came up with that design was an absolute genius. I work on my own cars, so I really love not having to fish around for the hood latch.

I can relate about selling and it being difficult. Trying to sell my Mercedes and even though I went down on the price a lot I only get strange people that aren’t that interested.

We drive across the US for all holidays, vacation, weekends and I tend to opt for driving over flying, so been thinking about getting one of these. All the new stuff is not very comfy - hard seats, stiff suspension, which rides ok on a smooth road, but most roads in TX are not smooth at all - probably because they don't have to worry about ice breaking the road with all the expansion joints and misaligned pads etc...

The end of an era!!! I still have my mint 07, someone broke out the window and damaged the door. I'm just finishing up the repairs. These are awesome cars but if you can't DIY some repairs it makes ownership harder that's for sure.

I’m in my 60’s and have owned 26 vehicles over the years. Mostly I’ve done private party sales of my cars, sometimes trade ins on new cars. I’ve learned not to put much effort or belief in anyone contacting me about my car for sale. There is an expression: buyers are liars. Mostly I found that whenever I have placed a car for sale that a lot of weirdo’s crawl out from under rocks and say silly things that they hope will make me dump my car for cheap. I just say thanks for calling and move on to a real buyer.

@@midwestpanther98 Here's the part that gets me - I have been told more untruths by private party sellers of used cars than by car salesmen! When I do buy from dealers I always go to the ones who I feel are reputable - I completely avoid the mouse houses. I have been told some real whoppers by private sellers who are trying to unload a car before major repairs.

I agree that all new cars are too "sporty". I dislike that trend, my newer Lexus ES seat is hard and the wheels are large and it's completely unnecessary.

The trend toward ever more sporty American cars started back in the 80’s. You saw many cars that would offer a “Euro” version that would have a stiffer suspension, ground effects, aluminum rims, less chrome, etc. American manufacturers went more and more to this approach as Japanese and European manufacturers gained more and more market share and now we can see how poorly this served them. In the 90’s it became more common to see a sporty version of a model like the Buick Park Avenue Ultra, Pontiac Bonneville SSEi or the Ford Taurus SHO offered but you could still get the version with the softer suspension and front bench seat if you wanted. By about 2010 the “Euro” version was all we were left with and 10 short years later the American sedan was all but dead…hmm, I wonder if there’s any correlation?? Today people just accept much less in transportation needs (much as you stated you will be doing). To some degree it has been forced upon us and to another people are just less demanding. Basically today all the majority of people care about is if the car is reliable and efficient. Styling and comfort just don’t matter anymore sadly unless you’re talking about a vehicle that is over $100K.

You realize not everyone lives in Chicago. I drive a canyon daily and could go 100 daily if I wanted to. Which of course I don’t as the limit is 80 MPH. I am sure you have seen the scenery when I film. Anyways this is my favorite TC style as well.

Stick to your guns don't let them low ball you. It will drive 4 hours I've driven my Town car 12 hours 654 miles. And never had a break down during the commute. $3'000.00 is a good buy during these times right now.

@ GunGlutton-- I bought my 2002 Town Car in 2007, and usually at least once a year I drive from Maryland to Florida and back, on Route 95. These Town Cars are great for cruising along the highway at 70 plus miles per hour. We usually stay in Florida for at least several months, and I love the large trunk to carry of the stuff we bring back and forth. On your trips from PA to FL, have you ever got gas at a Buc-ee's gas station? They are huge, as each one has over 100 gas pumps, and their convenience stores are over 50,000 square feet.

Sorry to see that you are selling your Town Car. My 2002 Town Car has been my daily driver for more than 16 years. These cars are great on the highway, and I usually drive from Maryland to Florida and back at least once a year. If something happened to my car, I would certainly miss it, and would probably try to find another one.

16 years that's really good. What's your annual maintenance cost? I bet you have all the records.
@franknew9001
@franknew9001 7 ай бұрын
@ midwestpanther98-- Yes, I do have all or most of my maintenance records. When I bought the car in 2007, it had 36k miles on it. Now it has 123k miles, so I have driven it 87k miles, averaging less than 6k miles per year. Since I change the oil every 5k miles, I only need about one oil change per year. I have had the transmission fluid changed or flushed three times, I have changed the antifreeze three times, and changed the brake fluid, the power steering fluid, and the rear end fluid twice. The oil changes and all of the other fluid changes average out to be about $100 per year. I will now list all of the repairs in the past 16 years: 1) replace power window motor $181 2) replace rear air ride suspension pump and air bags with coil springs $432 3) replace A/C blower motor $355 4) replace upper and lower ball joints, replace idler arm, etc $870 5) replace front sway bar, new front and rear brakes, new fuel filter, etc. $531 Total repairs $2,369. Average per year: $148 I have also bought three new batteries and two sets of Michelin Defender tires.

I agree with the things you like and do not. The hood ornament is not just additional elegance, it make me feel safe. a symbolf of "force tranquile" like i say in French. A pieceful strength, a feeling of "immuable" and balance. Everything's going to be fine. And the design is timeless. Simple elegance. I sometimes drive clients around, they prefer my 2011 town car to their Jaguars and sports cars. Everything is so simple, smooth, soft. I'm not going to throw shrink womb advice but we're pretty close lol

I also dislike having most or all of the data on a touch screen. Have you seen the dashboard on a Tesla? Everything is on the screen, and the rest of the dashboard is very boring. I have heard some Tesla owners complain that to open the glove compartment, you have to find the correct screen and button to open it. 😢😢
