I've done it before and I'm doing it again - Flexseal to the rescue to help with some annoying quarter panel rust. Let's see what happens :)

Keep spraying the rust with massive wd40 to prevent it from rusting more. No fix but helps.

Here in the Midwest rust is a very big issue. I had a 2004 Buick Century with 132K miles that I bought about a month before you bought your Town Car. The rocker panels had been replaced and painted before I got it. They didn’t do the best job and they were starting to rust again plus there were small spots at the bottom of both wheel wells on the drivers side. I wanted to have it fixed but it would have been thousands and it would have come back at some point. I found a like new ‘04 Century with 28K miles exactly like mine a few hours away that was Ziebarted new and is 99% rust free which is VERY rare for one of these here in Indiana (most of them have rot holes in the rockers now). I am going to keep it that way and not drive it in the winter months. I was able to sell the old one for basically what I paid for it almost 3 years ago. The new one was not cheap, but I think this was definitely the better option as the older one was not really worth putting that much money into. It was nice having a car with some “battle scars” as you called them. If it gets a new ding it’s not that big of a deal. The new one is so nice and has such low miles I kind of hate to drive it😩 Oh well, now my Yukon will get more use and BTW I will be undercoating it with Fluid Film before the snow falls. Up to this point it has pretty much not seen winter driving except for a few times last year.

Same issue when I removed those sweet shiny fender skirts. Idiots didn't seal the holes with anything and seals are crap or didnt take care of them and now I have a spot on both rears. If u not gonna weld it get some Ospho. I've used it for decades and it's the best rust converter and protection for clean metal. Most ppl just use for rust. It's great for bare, sanded, blasted etc. I tested with a muffler clamp for months. No rust. If rust is bad, flakes etc remove all u can. Then I used some muratic to get back to good clean metal. U gotta baby sit it. Can't just brush on and leave. If u don't or can't do that and it's surface rust use Ospho. Get a can of Car Rep primer. It's epoxy 2 part like used in a gun but it has NO POT LIFE. With other 2k cans u pop off red cap and pop bottom of can and u got 24 hrs max, in a ziploc in fridge b4 it's bad. With Car Rep it has no pot life. I used some months apart. It don't mix until u spray. The man with sandblaster got right idea. U can make urr own very cheap with a spray nozzle and a pop bottle. Small jobs only. Just like this. Blast it clean, primer then paint. I used a Eastwoods internal frame or chassis saver paint. Then farm implement paint. Undercoating is the worst idea. Even worse than flex seal. At the least use rustoleum. Spray all rust with ospho. I made my own that my pap told me about from 50s. 1 quart of any oil new or used, 1 quart of new used trans fluid, 1 tube or tub of grease gun, wheel bearing grease, 1 wax ring toilet gasket. Mix and heat and apply. I've tried fluid film, Blaster etc. U will never see rust on metal that has trans fluid, oil, grease on it. These products we buy have no oil based chemicals. So all the wax won't do much. Cosmoline is great but needs to be heavy. And it costs. My rust protection using used fluids will cost $6 and 5 min of time. A old man who worked with my pap at Ford plant drove a post war Ford sedan. Pap asked him how do u keep that old thing so nice and rust free next to lake erie and our snow? He told him what I told u. He drove that old car his entire life. No rust. Knock off heavy, spray Ospho with old bottle sprayer like Peroxide, winded etc whatever. Ospho is thin like water. It's not bad like battery acid. Wear eye, gloves and a mask. Spray all rust. Wait 24hrs. It WILL NOT RUST AS LONG AS IT'S ALL CHEMICALLY CONVERTED. Impossible on a chemical level. My 07 looked like urrs. It's been almost 3 years and it's still fine. Besides this new issue with fender screw holes rusting. And the Save a tree ppl calm down, this recipe will not run off. The waxakes it sticky as hell. Farting causes more pollution than any of this process. Gotta stop the rust. Have to. If not it will kill the car. And remember that may seem like a lil bubble but when u pop it, it's 2 times that size at least. Use a syringe to poke and put ospho in those bubbles and buy some time. I went overkill. I did chassis saver, inside frame and out, farm implement paint, then rustoleum, then my rust recipe. If u want to keep car, kill that rust. Even if you just use Ospho that alone will buy u alot of years. It's like frank hot sauce, I put that shit on everything. All the parts we buy are so cheap and not coated barely at all. Any steering lines, etc. Keep tires, air bags 303ed up and smear with mineral, baby oil or melt Vaseline. My bags are going on 8 years on 99 TC with 256k. No leaks, no cracks. Gotta protect rubber and metal.

I agree with your philosophy of extending the life of your car with DIY patches. If you can get a couple of more years out of this car, hopefully the car market will return to normalcy. I enjoy your videos.

Flexseal doesn't "fix" rust - just a coverup. Get yourself a small sandblaster from Harbor Freight and blast the rusty surface clean of rust. Then metal prep and sealer followed by primer and paint - and THEN apply undercoat of your choice.

I've spent almost 4 decades around old cars. Undercoating is the biggest fail that most don't understand. Unless u r going to UC new fabricated or 100% Sandblasted, prepped, etc it will just rust under it. I can't count on both hands how many times a car has been in air or I under it looking thinking, Wow looks pretty solid until I try the screwdriver test and it's like Swiss cheese under UC. Or the whole sheet of UC is pulled off and it's all rust under. Seeing what ppl do to their cars I get not all have tools, time, money, exp to do a high level restore, but as anybody who knows or has done this work of fixing up, restoring etc prep is 90% of a good job. If we cheap out, try to save time money etc it really hurts the finished product. Some are 50mph cars or 50 feet. Looks great going 50mph or from 50 ft, any closer it's not so good. If we're talking rhino type UC, great. Sandblaster won't hardly touch it. If put on correctly. If anybody has ever sanded, blasted and heavy equipment as Dozer, Excavators etc that JD paint is some of toughest stuff I've ever had to remove. I use that black as a coat after a rust killer type paint inside frame and under body. So basically layer the protection. As in Sand blast, Seal with whatever, prime with some good zinc primer, topcoat that Rustoleum, Farm implement paint with 3 capful of hardener, then a spray of some type of coating. A old man my pap worked with drove a post ww2 ford car to work in the 50s-90s. Pap asked How do u keep car looking like new and fight the rust, lived miles away from Lake Erie, he gave him a list of a few things. 1 quart of any oil new or used, 1 quart of new used trans fluid, 1 tube or tub of grease, 1 wax ring toilet gasket. Mix and heat and spray. U can add whatever u want to it like boiled linseed oil, chain saw oil etc. I like using hydraulic fluid as we drain from all equipment every year. Seal up drain in doors and melt a tub of Vaseline, use baby, mineral oil and some trans fluid and pour in door skin bottoms. Leave for a few days and the drain. You can do this with hood, trunk, rockers etc. I've tried 3m Cavity wax, Blaster wax, Cosmoline, Coal tar etc. Best, easiest, cheapest longest lasting is the oil, fluid, grease wax mix. Most fluid film type products at $10 per can has no oil based chemicals. U can add whatever u want to it that u want to try. I've used since 90s and have had no rust on any vehicle that sees salt, mud, rocks etc. Protection is key. Using a Ospho type product to kill rust they a wax type is best way to help keep our rides out of scrap yard. New ford's rust in months. Alot of videos on this. They don't make them like they used to. Paying 80k for a vehicle with a msrp of 40k is robbery. Have them keep their vehicle and make urrs last as long as possible.

I need you're help man, when my town car shifts gears i feel it, it's not rough, it's not hard, no jerking, but i feel it......when you're driving do you feel it when your car shifts? Or is it totally smooth?....... i kinda have ocd so I'm not sure if it always did that or? But once i noticed it i can't help but "try" to feel it....... so now i don't know if it's normal or not.

@@VitaliyKofman Haha you're making me more paranoid! I would describe the shifts as pretty smooth, but i still feel them, i know when my car shifts most times without looking at the tachometer......but if you're saying you can't feel yours at all..... then yeah, dang it....i might have a problem.
