The random talking at the end is hilarious. Only good friends can talk that much trash about you and all of you laugh. Y'all are a great group of people. Todd seems to be a very knowledgeable fellow. The 120 will be better then new when you guys finish.

When I was a young man full of pi$$ and vinegar I worked for a older man that had push scrapers, one self loader, a 850 John Deere dozier and 855 John Deere highlift and some other equipment. Worked weekends, and after hours from my day job. We were replacing some worn out parts on the dozers undercarriage and I referred to the chain as a rail. Next thing I felt was a slap upside the back of my head and he said you refer to that chain as a rail you will feel the same pain again. He said a rail is a stationary object, a chain is a moveable object. He said the rail is what the rollers, idler, carrier all connect to and the chain is the moveable object that rolls around it. Every time I hear someone call a chain on a dozier or highlift or excavator called a rail I feel that old man slap the back of my head. Lol

Definitely a lot of quality people in your corner of the world, with the odd appearance of other quality people to assist you in your shopwork. Always appear to have a laugh while fathoming out what and how to do the jobs at hand, whole you rush in and out on your way to more site visits etc..... Todd is a walking encyclopedia of track information, appears to have listened to the right people and taken their advice to grow his business, long may he have success, the same as you Mike 👍👍👍

You make me remember the fun and comraderie of being a Boilermaker! My goodness, some of the snickers and inneuendo that you use brings back memories of being a Boiler Rat. Did a 120C undercarriage awhile back and they bought cheap. The tracks never did flatten out. They were always kinked. Also the sprockets wore down to razor blades in about 1500 hours. No bueno. His method of changing the rails is spot on. One difference is that I use a pry bar to push up on the nut and bolt rather than sticking it alongside the nut. Also, before starting, I use a needle scaler and clean the compacted dirt around the bolt heads. One thing he didn't mention is removing the pads. I just undo the bolts and cycle the track around. When they get to the other side, they will usually fall off and if they don't, just knock them off when all the bolts are off.
@DirtPerfect
@DirtPerfect 4 жыл бұрын
Yup stay tuned did get some video of the pad change
@localcrew
@localcrew 4 жыл бұрын
On my old, old D7 when I took the pads off I used a 1” impact that got about half the bolts off. Then I heated the square nuts cherry red and banged most of the rest off. Had to burn about 15 percent of the bolts off. That’s where one of those rivet-cutting torch tips would have come in handy. They’re also known as a “Scarf” tip. Now my friend Dale has his giant nephew swing a 16 lb sledge at one of those rail spike hammers held up to the bolt head. You gotta lay the tracks on their side for this trick. Leather aprons & face shields are a must. Says that one solid hit will knock the bolt head clean off. I’ll stick with a big-ass wrench myself.

At one time in life on that great journey I was so poor that everything I had to work with was borrowed against one and a half times the real value of anything I had was leined so bad, I figured I would die in poppers field without the coffin as they would sell that too to get back some money. I welded the bolts to the pads and then welded them to something solid and took two pieces of pipe over some real sketchy tools and un bolted the nuts off each rail link. I was on that job a month almost if I remember right. I had to scrounge pads off of other old rails that people had thrown away... I remember that one rail was down close to the river and in mud and I had to use no. 2 shovels and picks to dig them out. I did it and got it done. I was so ashamed of how it looked that I waited till dark to haul it to the job. That old cletrac 60 was in horrible shape and the herkuless engine was real tired but it got my claim logged. I came out looking real good. I left that old dozer in the woods as I didn't want anyone to know it was mine. Trees grew up through it and claimed it... I had left it running when I left thinking do I go back for it or not and then couldn't so it stayed. The trees got it . It wouldn't even back up on the last day cause it was coming apart in the middle. That was a first and last for me so ya, I would love to see this machine take off nuts that are polished to the track and bent.

On your line bore set up on the boom. I do these fairly often. I have found that you need larger/wider tubing than the size you had. Having a wider cross section makes the mounting bracket more rigid. Also try and keep your brackets not in a straight line. Meaning it they are spaced apart they are more rigid. As you have found out when boring the quick coupler, that having the boring bar more rigid makes it cut better and faster. Good video. I will have to give Todd a call on the next track or boom job I do.

all my years working in logging camps we never use wrench's to brake the track bolt off, it is a hard job and a total waste of time, you never re-use thebolts any way, so i use a cutting torch and blow 2 sides of the nuts off, no you dont try and cut though thr nut and bolt, not needed, just blow off 2 sides of the nut and give it a good hit with a punch and the rest of the nut falls off, once all 5 nuts are off hit the pad with a big slug hammer and off it comes, about 5 min, per pad or less, you can hammer on a track bolt with a big 1" impact and get know were fast, as the bolt heads are war down, the threads on the bolts are all hammered, good luck with that, just blow 2 sides of the nut and be done, to remove roller bolts so they dont brake, before you do any thing heat the head of the bolts red hot, let them cool and run them out, giving the head of the bolt a good hit with a heavy hammer also helps once they have cooled they dont brake , unless some one used chines bolts

@@DirtPerfect I had no trouble finding the link but know how important it is to a business for Google to return proper search results. Truck or Track's home/index page needs Search Engine Optimization. It does not cost anything but a few minutes to add a line of hidden text in the HTML code. A few other online placements of 'Truck or Track' help, too. Just putting Truck or Track in the title of this video helps with SEO.
