We always place loose in the clamps with a soft sag then go back and tension and tighten clamps. A little safer that way I believe. I will say I miss our t-40 line truck they make jobs like this so much easier. Nice vid man

i've seen ppl with that work truck before but there logo was comcast or comed and they were both doing the same stuff but idk if there's different roles other companies do. can you give me some insight of what they do if not then that's okay. i'm just looking for a career change and just want to go for the right one.

Meleeing typically you’ll have “in house” employees and then you’ll have contractors/sub contractors. They all do the same work just depends who signs your pay check.
@mikel9567
@mikel9567 3 жыл бұрын
They pretty much do the same work, but in-house typically will pay more. Usually the contractors will do the line building or plant extensions and the in-house crews will do the technical work and actual installs. I worked for a company that was a contractor to Comcast. We did everything from plant extension / upgrade work (what you see in this video) to actual installs. Comcast in-house crews also did installs and they did repair work. The simple truth is there is more work than the in-house crews can handle which is why they contract out. A smaller company probably won't contract out their installs, but will contract out their plant construction work. Whatever you do, stay away from installs. Installs are usually paid "piece-meal" where as the construction side is paid hourly. Stick with construction if you want to do telco work.

USing preforms is the way to go . BAILS FAIL> Some swear they dont but We ve all seen it I think its just laziness that some dont use em. THoughts anyone? seems like you are tensioning as you go. I hope u realize your creating differential stress on the pole. down the road this inhibits cracks and stress. Run your strand then tension it go back and hammer down your clamps. Your creating a hazardous condition. dont do that. You seem to have a great work ethic, dont cheapen your quality. I really dont see you saving much time or effort using 2 guns... come on man. Just get efficient. Ur wrecking a good drill bit in the jaws of that milwaukee. Plus your hand wrenching anyways. geez louis

Come on! We were running 2 balls of strand on an easy day in Laredo!! These boys need to come down to Texas! See how the big boys play! Don't ever tention each span! Run that fucker dry put a preform on it then Jack all your spans at once!! You're going to break a pole doing this crap!

I’m 40 seconds in, and see a corded drill is about to be used to drill holes instead of an impact.. Now I’m 4 minutes in, and see he has the cordless impact for the auger bit, but wants to use a drill and a wrench instead.. Now i see him moving the telephone’s company’s guy.. Every bolt in those poles will be loose in a year. Did i really just see a down guy tensioned by stepping on it?????? Maybe not a great idea to be filming yourself in a bucket when your company issues you a harness and you dont wear it.. just sayin guy...

Let’s not mention primary line limits of approach non insulated work platform , no ground to ground glove work….no truck chalks , no controlled work zone , resident walks into work area while work aloft ….unbelievable

On primary poles during limits of approach? Absolutely nuts in the melon !

What’s “ground to ground glove use” Serious question. Also telecom lineman don’t typically need an insulated platform, as we don’t fuck with power. As long as you used your voltage tester on the steel and find that it’s safe. You are good to go.
