Many dancers try to "strengthen their intrinsic foot muscles" however they are often unwittingly overworking several other muscles in the process. I go through the subtitles of performing this exercise to help prevent any excessive tension in the back of the ankle.
This exercise pops up in lots of different programs, but this version is taken from our very popular program "How To Improve Your Pointe Range Safely - Without a Foot Stretcher!!"

Lisa's programmes are like gold dust to a dancer. I used her Turn Out, Core Strength and flexibility programmes and they totally transformed my dancing. Amazing! Thank you Lisa!

Hi Bethany, Thank you very much for your kind words. Exercises for FHL injury will differ depending on why you have an FHL injury! For example, scrunching or clawing your toes. Our Advance Foot Control program is a great resource for learning how to use your feet well. You can read more about this program here: theballetblog.com/shop/advanced-foot-control-program/ We are currently in the process of creating a new course - Level 3 - Foot and Ankle Injuries in Dancers. This course will cover appropriate exercises for FHL injury. We are aiming to have this open for participants in May 2024.
