Both are somewhat true though. Amy probably refers to the times when they were young, when Jo used to be rough and boyish with her. She also sees Jo and Laurie so close. With Jo however, the dream of her life is to travel the world, and she's bitter when Amy gets it instead of her.

Just goes to show, that everyone views their childhood through a different lens. I don’t think either of them is necessarily wrong. But where Meg and Beth had the calm, peaceful personalities, Amy and Jo were also alike with the fiery, passionate personalities. That’s why they butted heads the most out of the sisters, and explains why Amy always felt second to Jo as the youngest of the clan.

Aunt March took Amy to Europe to go to fancy parties and be shown off to men, why would Aunt March waste her time taking Jo to Europe to write stories? Jo is loved for following her dreams while Amy gets called a gold digger simply doing what she was told, and I sometimes see the hate from female fans. So much for women supporting women.

I just noticed that Amy touches the spot on the back of her head, right where Laurie just touched her as she walks away. As if she still feels his hand there after he pulled it back. Such a subtle little addition from Florence Pugh - even when she’s being strong and rejecting him, he still lingers, she still feels him after he’s gone.

Amy was always a good character, and likeable too. It's weird how everyone wants "flawed, realistic" characters but then rejects them when they are actually offered. But I see why Florence would seem different, because this adaptation is the only one that genuinely seems to care for Amy and doesn't seem like a version created solely to exalt Jo March.

I know literally everyone's said this but I love the way Florence delivers those lines. her reaction is perfect- the words themselves and the way she's clearly upset and trying not to cry feels like a call back to her younger years because the "you're being mean" is such an innocent sentence- but at the same time there's maturity and strength in the way that she stands up for herself and doesn't settle or give in despite wanting to be with Laurie. everything about that juxtaposition between the girl she was and the woman she's becoming is just fantastic.

This scene is extraordinary. You'll actually feel for Amy here. Amy is actually likeable. Like I only realised it after reading the book for the second time and I was more mature to understand where she's coming from. At first she's this annoying little brat, so ambitious and selfish, but she's a loving character. It is hard to be under Jo's shadow, as a daughter, as a sister and as an artist,a s well. Jo is such a strong character who is so much like Amy, and Amy developed this kind of attitude and character, unknowingly, I suppose, so she can have her place in the world.

Amy was a brat as a child LOL, but she grew up and matured. She always knew she had to marry well. Her oldest sister Meg married for love and was poor (so she couldn't help the family out), Jo was off trying to be a writer, Beth was sickly. So Amy knew the job of marrying well fell on her. She really didn't have the luxury to marry for love or waiting around pursuing a 'career' (as painter/writer/etc), her sight had always set on someone with $ so she could help her family out. The whole thing kind of reminded me of the dynamic of Pride and Prejudice characters too. The 'job' of marrying well fell on Jane, since she was the prettiest and most amiable of the Bennett sisters :D

I feel like some people don't like Amy for what she did to Jo as a response to her anger for always being left out, but they fail to remember that Amy was a child. They all were, and they all acted like children one way or another. Except Beth, despite being the 2nd Youngest. It's a time period of about 7-8 years so obviously they will mature and move on from things. I never saw Jo as a good match for Laurie since she had to try to try to convince herself, and failed, out of desperation, to try and love him. Amy never had any problem with that, and even when she came back married to Laurie, she was worried with how Jo would react. Amy matured the most, but in the end Jo realized that she shouldn't seek love just because she is lonely.

Ya, I'm even a writer, and I understood why may did what she did. Yes, she shouldn't have burned the pages but at the same time jo hurt her somewhere that was equally important to her as writing was for Jo, at first I thought because I am a writer a would like jo more but certain scenes just showed her as shellfish, the way she treated may when they left and Amy pleading to go with them, like there was a nicer way to say no and not hurt her feelings, and as a child, Amy didn't take it well, so bc of one scene a lot of people hated Amy and didn't want to watch her grow into someone better. Not sure if what I wrote makes sense

*Amy:* what are you doing? *Laurie:* I'm looking at you. *Amy:* I mean what do you intend to do? *Laurie:* with life? *Amy:* yes *Laurie:* I've been writing an opera, I'd be the central figure. *Amy:* That's a waste of time. *Laurie:* What would you have me do? *Amy:* go and work for your grandfather and make something if yourself. *Laurie:* okay, you're not playing fair. *Amy:* here **Hands him drawings** *Laurie:* it's very good. When did you do this one? *Amy:* was the day at the beach. The first time I met Fred. *Laurie:* that's right. What's he doing? *Amy:* he's in London on business. He'll be back in a few weeks. *Laurie:* don't marry him. *Amy:* what? *Laurie:* don't marry him. *Amy:* why? *Laurie:* why? You know why. *Amy:* no. No *Laurie:* yes *Amy:* Laurie you're being mean. *Laurie:* how am I being mean? *Amy:* stop it. Stop it. I have been second to Jo my whole life in everything. And I will not be the person you settle for just because you cannot have her. I won't, I won't do it. I won't not when I've spent my entire life loving you.

Amy is the best character in Little Women...the more realistic with the status of women of the time..Amy was inspired by the beloved sister of Louisa Alcott. She was real and sometimes imperfect for this she is a complex character

florence pugh was hands down my favorite in the film. from the way she laughed at meg burning her hair off to burning jos books then meeting laurie for the first time and she so obviously liked him with the 'im amy" then the best scene in the movie (best funny scene) where she does the "im amy" again while crying like the cutest little baby ever. but then this scene happens and florence just kills the emotional reaction spot on.

I honestly am amazed at how they were able to show the difference in Laurie's love for Amy and Jo. for Jo it was more like a comfortable one but with Amy it was a man falling in love with a woman

A part about Amy/Laurie in Good Wives, which I really love, is that when he takes her advice and leaves to work, he actually plans to work on art and music as he mentions the opera here. And he also plans to make Jo the heroine and muse. However when he tries creating something, Jo's face evades him and instead he finds inspiration in Amy (he starts imagining golden hair and blue dresses which is a sign of Amy). Slowly Amy replaces Jo as his muse. It's gradual and brilliantly written.

God! I love that part in the book, how he's clinging to Jo while he's subconsciously falling for Amy so his attempts to keep hurting over Jo are futile, I think that's something no adaptation is able to capture

I love how they made Jo and Amy so relatable even now. Jo feeling that Amy gets away with everything just because she is the youngest while Amy always thinks she is second to Jo in everything just by being older. The acting and story was in my opinion very well done.

I LOVE so much when they talk about the other drawing. The first time she met Fred, instead of drawing him she drew Laurie. And the faces Florence makes as she says that UGH the delivery is sooo good. You can tell there’s something more there and brings up Fred to maybe suppress her feelings for Laurie or as a reminder to herself that that’s who she has to be with. And the fact that she kept that drawing this whole time. Florence plays Amy so well, it’s obvious that Amy loves Laurie but is holding back ughhhh I love it

@@graciekh1521 that doesn't have to do with the fact that Laurie and Amy look good as a couple and she maybe reacted like a selfish baby but she loved Jo and I don't think that she really wanted to hurt her it was just a childish reaction remember that she was a child. When we see her as an adult i think that she seems more mature even than Jo. Besides she was sure about het feelings for Laurie from the beginning it was Jo's fault who was unsure about hers and almost made him take a wrong choice which both of them would later regret
