What do we mean by liturgical year and how did it come about? It is the articulation of the annual calendar of the liturgy of the Catholic Church, subdivided into liturgical seasons, which in their succession celebrate the most important moments in the life of Jesus, and more. In this video we analyse its origin and main features.
It was in the peaceful atmosphere of the 4th century that what we call the 'liturgical year' was able to develop. The most important event in those years was Constantine's law of March 321 by which Sunday was recognised as a public holiday for all workers.
