LIVE STRIP DOWN OF THE 6HP EVTNRUDE, WHAT CASUED THE BOTTOM END FAILURE???

G'day everyone, I thought I would try something different and do a live stream.
What better project to do it with the the subject of the last video, the 6 hp Evinrude that has a serious bottom end rattle.
This being the first ever time I have done a live stream please be patient with me as I am sure there will be technical issues to work through.

Missed the live feed but enjoyed the video. . The old impact driver gods gift to mechanics. Been working on bikes for over 40 years and worn out several impact drivers over the years bikes are like outboards metal screws on alloy equal impact needed lol. I am in port Stephen’s Love it here im in Raymond terrace love being close to the water. Cant wait for more boat vids keep em coming mate.

Thanks mate, yeah it's the most used tool in the shop it recon. I'm pushing to get some work done on Kiarra so hopefully the more regular vids will start back up again soon 👍

I know this is an old video but remember KZfaq is full of videos to help you tear down these motors when you don’t know how. It was hard seeing you with the hammer 😂

You have to take pull cord unit to side to get to the nut on carb

First and foremost my apologies for missing the live stream but congratulations for achieving something that other KZfaq channels have failed to which is for the watch from start to finish😊 I really enjoyed it and like you could believe the type of bearings that the engine had. I've never seen solid bearings on a two stroke before and how it hasn't locked up solids never to run again. I just can't work out how the bearings got enough lubrication. Gary 🇬🇧🇬🇧

All good mate I'm grateful you came back and watched it afterwards. I was very surprised to see bronze bush and like you mentioned how the hell do they get enough lubrication to not lock up is beyond me.

Nice work m8, Talking to yourself is one way of getting a good conversation, but if you argue with yourself, you will loose! Is this the one you got from your Uncle? Really liking the long screwdriver, the hammer, and the shifter. Perseverance! Real good, learned somethin. With or without the WD40, theres can in the van and I have 3 or 4 others round the house. My m8 prefers 'start ya bastard' for most jobs, Good boat, you got, late 50s early 60s, might drop it in the Classic Area. Nice catch bloke! Started watching at 2300 Sun,2330 bed. finished off bout 1330 Mon. Was here for the 'Movie' ref. Thanks, really nice work, I can a motor apart now, and look for stuff! ✋ [Hi 5]

Thanks mate, I can admit to loosing an argument or 2 lol. Smacking the back of a screw driver can work well to shock the threads sometimes but not a guarantee by any means. Thanks for all the support too mate it doesn't go unnoticed and is much appreciated 👍

I have been to Port Stephens (2014) and Nelson bay (2008), verry good spot to whalewatch in september. i went on "Spirit of port Stephens" and it broke down at sea. the police towed us back in to the harber. that was a fun experiens :)

Yeah mate the whales go so close to the coast line. Lol I had a similar experience on Kiarra and had to get towed back by the coast guard.

Yeah mate she is a bit past the point now. I will keep a few of the bits for spares but most of it will go to the alloy recycling.

I had a 6 hp Evinrude as a kid couldn't wear the dam thing out it was on a 12 ft John boat travelled many miles on Murray darling

I can see they're a very well built unit inside just a shame this one had a hard life. It may of been cooked also going off the amount of crud in the water jacket

Hi mate, was a fantastic bike to own and ride. I miss it from time to time, I bet the 1200 is a fun ride. Yeah mate still very much into bikes and always will be. I don't have one on the road right now unfortunately but I do have a GPZ750 turbo that is halfway through a nut and bot rebuild. Thanks for the support and hopefully you keep watching 👍

you are aware that screwdriver handles are designed to accept a spanner/socket to aid in tightening/loosening screws....🙄😆😎😎
