Dan Morgan was spot on. “ We don’t look like we are training” That’s one of my many thoughts. No styles of play. Transitions and patterns. Most of all, we look soft, lots of those players look very soft. Szobo a great example. I’ve forgotten his name but one of TAW’s contributors made a point in Nov saying Nunez misses will cost us later in the season. That has come to fruition. He reminds me of Cisse. Lots of energy but not clinical enough. Those draws have killed us
@mjh179

Agreed. It's mad because we look like we aren't training patterns and moves but at the same time look like we're overcoached and trying to overpass and overcomplicate it, pushing players in the middle with this ridiculous inverted fullback and dominate possession. What's happened to the intensity they always bang on about. They all look like they are strutting around Szobo started off amazing and he looks like he's been coached into Hendo, lots of running but no risks and no shooting which is a lot of his game. It's awful coaching/management how we've got to this point where we look so vulnerable at the back and look like we will never score

Endo’s ‘stalling’ on the ball is because of the lack of movement/understanding from the front three and midfielders in front - Jones and Diaz kept making the same runs 🥴 Salah needs to move on and VVD needs to start being a captain and playing - Not good enough to win the league… The Arsenal result is simply going to cause more stress and ‘hope’ 😩😅

100% mate, I said when we got past Brighton I wanted to see a composed clinical win vs sheffield, but we made another meal out of that. Sad to say but if Klopp hadn't announced he was leaving at the end of this season I'm not sure I'd be confident going into next season with him still at the helm. He has changed everything, best period since the Dalglish era, that said, arguably we haven't had a great season / trophy of note since 2019/20. We have over-achieved this season, but tactically we have been stuck in a rut, going behind 21 times in a season is completely abnormal. Beyond frustrated with Salah and Nunez at this stage too.

We have been playing badly for a long time, the results have been very flattering, taken Endo of was a big mistake especially as we know that Jones takes forever to come back from injury, the only player that tried a bit was Roberson. Darwin and Diaz are not good enough for LFC, people like them because they can fight and go to war, but they don’t have enough ability on the ball brain vise. Had hoped for Alonso to take over, have never been a big Klopp fan as a manager, seam to mostly have one way of playing, Leverkusen have never been scored against through a counter attack, how many goals have we conceded with a counter attack? I am old enough to remember LFC winning the old way and this chaos football that we have been playing the last few year is really frustrating to follow, with Henderson, Winjaldum and Fabinho it worked for two years before they were totally spent and this midfield is nowhere near as good. Hoping for better football next season, maybe duller, but hopefully with more control.

My main criticism of Klopp and the reason he has not won more at Liverpool is ruthlessness . I think he can’t upset players he builds close relationships with which leads to them not getting dropped when they should and less chance to players who should play. He needed a Edwards behind the scenes all the time to do the cold cutting also, when that went heart took over head.

During Mo Salah's absence at the AFCON tournament in January, and also his subsequent injury layoffs, Liverpool played 12 games in the Premier League, FA cup and League cup competitions. Without Salah they won 10, drew 1 and lost 1 scoring 33 goals at an average of 2.75 goals per game, and a win rate of 83%. He came back for the Brentford game on 17th February as a sub for Jota after 44 minutes, but then due to injury didn't play again until the away leg to Sparta Prague on 7th March, when he came on as a sub after 74 minutes. Since then, and including the Brentford game, Liverpool played 10 games in the PL, FA cup and Europa League. They won 5, drew 2 and lost 3, a win rate of only 50%, including two easy games against Sparta Prague. They scored 26 at an average of 2.6 per game, not significantly different than without Salah, but that tally includes 11 against Sparta Prague. In those 10 games Salah scored 7 goals, including a hat-trick against Sparta Prague. Obviously the drastic discrepancy in performance and results are not exclusively down to Mo Salah, but it does demonstrate the law of diminishing returns, probably related to his recent injuries and also low energy associated with fasting during the period of Ramadan from the 10th of March until the 9th of April. It begs the question why he started so many of those games during that fasting period, and why he played 90 minutes against Crystal Palace, when he was largely ineffective and struggling with many basic aspects of the performance. Considering the vast array of physiology and sports science data available to the club it is surprising and disappointing those issues do not seem to have been identified or addressed!

On Endo, he looks as surprised as anyone to have so much time on the ball, but I don’t think it’s us, it’s the opposition funnelling the ball to him and Konate by closing the other passing lanes. The objective being to get a bad pass and turnover, or be able to press them into a mistake. He was also overloaded when Palace had the ball because Olise or Eze kept coming inside to join Wharton or Hughes in his zone. The swapping between them, with one going inside and the other out, meant that there was always another pass option for them on the ball in the centre.

Hugely disappointing result yesterday but how we react is crucial. We have to stay together, have to push on and keep going and believing. None of us really expected us to be challenging for a league title this season but these lads got us here in the first place. So I don't agree that attitude etc is the problem. Some have possibly played too much, some are lacking match sharpness/touch (Jones, Jota, Robbo, Alisson, Trent) and some are perhaps now lacking a bit of confidence. We all talked about twists and turns in the league title race, this is one. Man City may go onto win it but they also have a lot of games left and look jaded too. Ours is a young and in places Inexperienced team that are desperate to be winners but even they need support at times.Winners keep going until the finish line and we as fans need to get right behind them and Jürgen. I thought on Thursday night that wasn't just complacency or a bad game, it was more than that. It was dreadful and we looked shot, absolutely cooked. I just think that Klopp's style of play is getting increasingly difficult to make an effective one over 38 games in the PL given the sheer amount of games for both club & country. Sometimes we just need to be smarter and not turn the game into chaos, but every time it ends up like that cos we're chasing the game almost every bloody week!

Good constructive post match natter. I’m wondering whether Pep Linders has had his head turned because we’re told he’s the one who runs training. That’s not absolving Klopp from criticism but if we’re not training or preparing well, then performances are no surprise. YNWA 97 ❤

With that Arsenal result I feel we have been given a lifeline. We still have a chance at the title as I think City can still drop points but we have to get our act together quickly all over the pitch. It will mean digging in and grinding out again, but the players and staff have to start believing again.

While it feels nice and I sort of agree, city would have to drop and arsenal have to drop twice because of goal difference. I want to have belief but realistically it’s just a farewell tour for klopp at this point

We just dont do the basics often enough. These podcasts are part of the problem. We've overachieved this season. When we win whateverthe score our players are lauded as geniuses when they've just been competent. We have not played good football. The results have been better than the performances. We've done well to go so far in all competitions but all our failings are catching up with us. Slow starts, conceding early goals and chances. Slow passing which it now must be deliberate to bring the other team out but it's not working. Our game has relied on hoping the ball will run our way rather than making it run our way. But terrible shooting, terrible crossing have caught up with us. We never give up and we keep on going and witha bit of luck it's still their to be won. Both europa and epl.

I fear for Konate if Amorim is Klopp’s successor. Very underwhelming on the ball - the lad kicked it out of play several times. Shocking. Only positive was Trent’s performance and impact. Nice to see him back

Liverpool were not just less effecient in attack ,they were also leaky at the back they allowed more shots at their goal in The Premier League than other teams.Klopp stubbornness and Salah,Nunez,Jota,Diaz,Gakpo,Jones and Dominik wastefulness cost Liverpool .why Jurgen Klopp reluctant to have those to the first team Amara Nallo,Bobby Clark, Jayden Danns,Lewis Koumas and Musialowski ?Are Liverpool supporters endurance 30 years to win EPL?We have to pick ourselves up.

This has been coming for the last 6 weeks we’ve been poor for far too long. Our team doesn’t play as a team no more. No chemistry can’t even play simple passes, the second there’s a bit of pressure on the ball they panic

It looks to me like the players are not playing for the manager. We have seen it at other clubs. Players know that he won't be there next season, so don't care enough. You play for the badge, not who is in the dugout.

@TheAnfieldWrap in hindsight do you regret pushing the idiotic move to protest inside the stadium last week, in my mind in was a selfish move which impacts the very essence of what Jurgen has built. That connection between fans, the manager and players, the protest basically basically tore that up, fans withdrew their support. It had to effect the players, they are human after all. To make that call at a time where Jurgen's home games are limited as well, just madness! Paul Tomkins sums it it way better than I'm able to.
