i had a similar situation happen to me in my hometown starbucks, but the man kept coming back 4-5 times before he left. i was really scared to leave because i was alone and i thought he would follow me back home, since he had prior asked me if i lived around the area. thankfully, there were people around me who noticed the weird behavior and made sure i was okay before i left, but when i drove home i burst into tears because i was so scared and it made me really anxious. your reaction was definitely valid, reality is scary and people are fcking weird. sending love

UGH the note part- fuck people saying that it’s harmless. I was browsing in a bookstore a few years ago (I was 21, and look young for my age thanks to chubby cheeks™️) and a man who I’d guess was at least 15 years older than me started a conversation, and it was all polite and friendly. It went on for about 40 minutes and I was scared to be rude so I just kept trying to kindly disengage but every time the chat came to a natural end, he tried to keep it going, and eventually asked me out. I said no as politely as I could and the only thing I was confident in working was saying I had a boyfriend (which is true). He left but I stayed in the bookstore for at least another 40 minutes because I wanted to make sure he wasn’t lingering around. Those people who say that note was harmless might think this is dramatic, but we have VERY valid reason to fear men. I don’t enjoy fearing men, I don’t like not being able to trust half of the population, but it’s simply a fact of our lives that we have to be vigilant for our safety, and it’s shit. If that offends the ‘good guys’, the simple fact of calling yourself a ‘good guy’ should say it all, and if a woman wanting basic boundaries respected is offensive then you’re not one of the ‘good guys’. You’re so right, we are proven time and time again that something as simple as saying no to an advance from a man can end dangerously, so when that situation presents itself, even if that man would never harm us, how are we to know that?

You’re 100% not overreacting. The men commenting on your video are so inconsiderate and definitely lack empathy , most of them never understand the fear women go threw just even LIVING .. I’m only a teenager and I’ve already had a few encounters that have left me so uneasy, nauseous and disgusted , it’s so scary and frustrating being a woman sometimes and it breaks my heart .
