@@calikalbocalikalbo6082 not close enough to consider it. Just got back from Portland. I wasn’t doing anything touristy so I saw the shit and piss of it all. Sacramento as a big picture is far cleaner and maintained to a higher standard. Portland is trashed even by it’s residents…

Most people ive known that moved to sac hated it. Its a family town so it takes a few years to get used to. Once you get situated, its pretty cool because youre central to the bay area and reno/tahoe.

I’ll say that lack of growth is true for downtown but if you check out Natomas, which is a couple miles north of Downtown, it has TONS of new housing along with great food options and entertainment within in the area. Born and Raised in West Sacramento now living in South Natomas. I like it but don’t love it.

@@michaellavan9929 it’s not a recommended area to move, while it’s not the best it’s nowhere near the worst at all. I can safely ride my electric scooter to work and back at night with no issues. There’s some odd people out and about but they keep to themselves. The schools aren’t great to raise children. North Natomas has some great schools!! The housing cost for what we get is on the higher side. Looking at a $2000 mortgage for a 3 bed 2 bath single story with a vinyl pool. Definitely a perfect area for a just married couple to get into their first home and save up to get something better to then have kids. Residents keep to themselves, don’t expect block parties but the neighbors are super nice! I have my neighbors phone numbers and we talk daily outside but that’s because I put in the effort to get to know the people around me for safety reasons.

I left Sacramento 2 years ago. Sacramento is kind of a "basic" city. It's got a few cool things to see and do but overall it's got kind of a bland vibe to it. Nothing about it is special other than being the capital of California. Part of me misses it though. It's not a pretentious city which makes it easier to connect with people and make friends.

Interesting! I (Lance) moved to SF for about 8 months but never really got acclimated to the city. I heard Chicago is awesome as well. We will need to check it out some day!

Being from Sac I get what your saying it can feel very basic but like you said the people make it special we aren’t as closed off as people from the big cities in the state and country and it’s diverse in a way where everyone gets along not segregated like Chicago where there’s diversity but everyone stays to their own people the Italians the whites the blacks don’t really mix out there and plus Sac got underrated weather it might get hot but cool down by the time it’s dark and it don’t get snow but maybe on a super rare occasion

Most if not all videos regarding where to live in Sacramento, the same 5 come up. Oak Park is sooo underrated. It has gone through some revamping in the last 20 years or so. Especially, north Oak Park adjacent to midtown.
