Hey, it’s nice to see you again, Lauren. No snow here in Aberdeen but very chilly. 🥶 The differences of how the body reacts whilst being calm and being flustered when you have MS can be profoundly different. If I feel uneasy in a situation I can barely operate cognitively and physically. If I’m happy and confident with my surroundings, functioning in general isn’t as difficult. Take care, and keep smiling 🤗

Lauren! This was such a good video & topic! So helpful 😉 My biggest problem with the concept is those situations everyone faces that we aren’t necessarily able to “like” or “appreciate”. Some examples of the worst for me are having phone conversations, AND those times I’m interacting with people where I’m required to explain something in greater detail (both of which put more focus on what I’m saying/ more attention on me/ more anxiety). Like, if I have to speak with an insurance agent over the phone about my concerns with changing a policy. Or, say I’m having trouble with my internet provider and I have to speak with 4 different people in one phone call. Another example: I am face to face with my granddughter’s elementary teacher, going over her progress in class, or maybe my loan paperwork with my banker. You get the point. It’s those situations I seem to have the most trouble with. I get tripped up, trying to make cohesive conversation (AND get my point across), but it seems the more frustrated I get for not “finding the right words”, the worse it all gets and just seems to go downhill quick. I know that I’m educated and intelligent. I know that I can speak clearly and precisely. But it is beyond frustrating, and embarrassing to not be able to convey these things in everyday situations. Situations that most all adults face regularly, whether we necessarily “like” them or not. I do get what you’re saying here - and I agree, that it’s a lot more helpful to put oneself in comfortable situations, and around supportive people, in order to strengthen confidence when you’re already struggling with cognitive issues. I guess I’m just saying, these tips unfortunately can’t be always be applied. 😐

Hi Rebeca! I'm so sorry that I didn't see this comment until now! I can totally relate to everything you've said! I've noticed that when talking to people on the phone, some people are more understanding than others. Sometimes, I explain my situation and let people know that I get confused so please just understand it takes me longer to understand. I have my Master's Degree...it's humiliating not being able to communicate like everyone else. But I've found that just being totally open and honest with everyone seems to be the mots helpful. I really hope you are doing well!!
