I was there Joe, same experience, same time different place other side of the Atlantic (in London, where as it happens those sounds were emenating from, I was too young to go to the gigs also) and it was the same for me. Your outstanding and heartfelt playing has comforted me for the loss of Jimi. Live long and prosper. stay well, be true to the love of a good woman.

A CLASS ACT!!!! Great musician and person!!!

I was in the Bay area in the eighties as Joe was talking about. It was absolute heaven for music fans. Saw Joe multiple times at a rock club in San Jose. Saw Jerry Garcia band. Saw Michael Hedges sitting six feet away from him at the Varsity... got bored one Sunday night and took a drive.. on the marquise at the Keystone in Palo Alto I see "Tonight Only MUDDY WATERS"! Saw Carlos Santana at San Jose civic center.. down the block from my dinky apartment I caught Elvin Bishop, Leon Russel, Edgar Winter and Lidia Pense (of Cold Blood, but she never made the stage that night. No biggie... cost $4.50.) Caught Norton Buffalo at Keystone. Again, pure heaven for a music fan.

he is. i met him back in 2004 at the beacon theater.....as he was meeting with all the fans, he never once lost his smile. he not a rock star, he's not 1 of the greatest guitarists in the world....when you meet him, he is Joe

That last comment proved what Hendrix said all along. Though I'm no where close to Satch's playing, it happened to me the exact same way. The first time I heard Hendrix, something just happened and opened me up and i'm one yr younger than Satch. Hendrix said they played loud because they wanted their music to go into the soul of a person instead of just the ears. That is SO true. That's why i said i don't think there'll ever be a person as connect to an instrument as JH was.

thing about great people is they are so interesting to listen to even if they are talking about something very simple

I hate that all the good music is dying. Not the music is dying, but the artists. AC/DC, Zepellin, Satriani etc.etc, good true rock n roll, they are all in there 60;s :( im glad AC/DC is doing one last tour even though they are in their 60's or around there, but its sad to think they are done for good after this :(

exactly the same as when i meet Allan Holdsworth, its a real head trip for me. To meet one of my idols Allan Holdsworth and for him to be so humble and down to earth. Allan, just happens to be one of the most influential guitarists of all time. Same with Joe :o)

the first time i heard steve vai i was mesmerized just like joe was when he heard hendrix. a few years later i hear joe for the first time and i was equally if not more mesmerized. both steve and joe taught me more about myself through listening to thier music than i knew. it was just so cool to hear them and think yeah i wanna make beautiful music too. with any luck one day i will.

he mentioned jethro tull ive never like them i wouldnt think that joe liked them my father introduced me to joe but he listened to jethro tull!!! i have so many things in common with joe started playing drums at young family very musical same influences just really weird to me but joe is a legend he's the best to me

I remember the first time I herd Satriani...Zack's place...The music "touched" me...what was that? It was strange beautiful music! Strange indeed! I had eaten a few mushrooms and could not stop laughing through the whole ablum. I don't think ill ever forget this moment! THANKS JOE!

Cool that he gives such a respect to Hendrix--my favorite rock guitarist. Joe would be second. First song I heard by him was "Flying in a Blue Dream"--it sounded so awesome I was permanently hooked on his music.

I did the exact same thing hearing Hendrix for the first time when I was about 8. I heard puple haze and was like "WOW what the heck is that" and my uncle tossed on the album and said "thats Jimi Hendrix!" I then started playing guitar at age 13 and have never really put it down.
