Because of you, Larry, I fixed a big issue with my American Staffordshire of 10months old. I learned so much from your video`s about the E-Collar. Ive imported the Mini Educator from the USA to The Netherlands. And I had to use it only 4 (!) times to solve my dogs problem. It changed him so much, in a good way! He is way more relaxed, and enjoys life so much more. And it changed us aswell. I want to thank you so much for all the effort you put into making video`s!

Beautifully explained Larry. You are right ,Mango cannot be allowed to bite Luca . She for sure was faster in the 2nd video. Both great dogs. Again ,right on with all you say regards the e collar. I'd love to read your book but just can't afford it as this pc is in its death throws ,so having to save the pennies. Great work Larry. Thank you : )

Larry, obvious question, will Lukas and Mango protect in real life by instinct or by command? Awesome exposure of teaching technics. Thank you.

completely agree, i have a 8 month old golden retriever, a super hard headed dog and pushes his boundaries very very far, pushes my patience to the limits and ive burst a couple times but never ever had a negative blowback and hes willing and happy to keep training, any tips on what you did about the dog blowing you off would be appreciated

Do you have any recommendations for how to get my dog to not react in excitement towards other dogs? I have no issues with my dog listening around people with any command but he fixates on dogs and I can not get him to respond to my commands.

Yeah, the first run she definitely was holding back a little but still was close. The 2nd time around, she was getting it as you could see when she tripped and rolled. Good stuff. As far as the correction goes, like you said when the foundation is there, one correction is all that is needed most of the time. I like to say that the correction, when paired with the behavior, as long as the correction is intolerable to the dog, one is all it takes.

@Larry, I haven't gotten the e- collar yet, going to only because of your talking about it, before the only time I'd seen people use one was mean, abusive as heck with it. Question is my bigger girl has 4 coats of fur because of the breed of dog she is Welch Corgi / Husky, how tight or loosely is it supposed to fit? Like her normal flat collar does ( where I can get 2 to 3 fingers under the collar ) ?

I have a question about the e-collar training. I bought your book and I am in the intermittent phase. Im practicing the recall. Usually my dog respond on a lvl 5-7 but sometimes when there is a smell I have to adjust to a 20. In my neighborhood a lot of people put bread on the street for the birds . My dog is more than addicted to the bread .I tried to recall him with a long line and the e-collar but no response. I went higher but no response. Question 1-is it normal? Question 2-what's the range of the lvl of the e-collar in the intermittent phases if your respond on below 8 when there is no distraction. That you tell yourself ok it's too hard for my Dog I have too reduce distraction. Thanks for your help! Continue your good work !!!

Alex, don't correct/punish your dog for eating bread at this point of the dog's training. I have two suggestions: 1). Practice recall with e-collar with bread placed on both sides of dog's path back to you. Have a higher value reward than the bread( or better/bigger bread) that you are treating dog with as he gets back to you. If dog is distracted by the bread, spread the bread out farther away from path. Practice, practice, and practice some more, gradually moving bread directly into dog's path. As dog is successful, make sure you praise and treat the hell out of him. 2). Teach leave it command. Once again use bread and a higher value treat. Throw a piece of bread on ground and as dog goes for it, cover it with your foot and say "Leave It." When dog stops trying to get bread from under your foot and looks at you, mark it with a "Yes", and treat dog. Eventually, you will be able to not cover bread with foot and just say "Leave It." One the dog learns the command, you could also overlay the e-collar at the dog's working level by holding down the continuous button until the dog looks at you.

@@chesapeakecanine thanks you for the tips will work on it. But just to be clear I didn't want to punished my dog for eating bread. I wanted to know when in your training the lvl is too high for not punishing my dog and go with lower distraction. If you have any tips on it I am really ready to listen! Thanks to take the time to help me I have one more question about your tips. I know bread is not good for dog so is it good to give it too them in treats? Or it's not Good but dog is addicted so I have to fight the power of the bread with the power of the bread ? Haha :) Thanks again!!

@@Playlist13057 Levels are very specific to the individual dog. If your dog is extremely well conditioned and trained, it would not be distracted. So I would go back to that. But if you want to correct your dog for the distraction, if you feel that he/she is well conditioned, go as high as you need to go but no higher. Call the dog back to you, while slowly dialing up the e-collar, pressing the continuous button, and putting pressure on the leash. When the dog turns to you, stop pressing the button, mark and reward. That is the level you would use for avoidance phase of his/her training.

@@Playlist13057 I think he meant higher value reward than bread - like a small piece of meat or chicken.

Can this same method be used with dog on dog food aggression/possessiveness? One of my males (10 months old) has started to show some signs of this and I want to stop it before it gets out of control. He is perfectly fine with people, it is just other dogs he has problems with.
