Would you please make a video listing the bad habits we do in the home that cause bad behavior in our dogs.

Thank you Larry! You’ve really helped me over the years. I wanted a well trained dog and I’ve watched hundreds of dog training videos (mostly yours) and I finally had a “light bulb” moment when I was watching this particular one. This one should have over a million views!

This is so absolutely correct but I hadn't thought about it as 80/20. I too have tried to explain to clients that the dynamics's of the home is so important.

Do you have a video where you give more examples on what not to do in the home? I find them so helpful! Thank you! :)

Best way to see this is go to an obedience club and watch the dogs coming in. pulling hyped up behaviour. then they are great in lesson, then back to pulling to get home.

I am so glad I saw this video. It's a very simple concept. Some of the practices you share here that are applied to your dogs were suggests that lead to such a deeper meaning than just the rules of the house. I also would like to express appreciation that your videos are to teach, I was under the impression that all trainers who post videos on here did so in order to help others and be of service. But I was taught a different story just this morning. The trainer actually set a trap in order to basically humiliate me because I wanted to gain a better knowledge of raising our Rotties, went as far as fabricating statements. So your time and effort have been appreciated for this service.

It would be great if you add more videos with examples of what to do and not to do inside the home that lead to good and bad behaviors.

This should be required viewing for every one who decides to bring a dog into their home, and I do mean everyone - seasoned owners who know this will find it refreshing to hear and great to refer people to when others ask, “how did you get your dogs to be so well trained?”; and brand spankin’ NEW never had a dog in their life owners will get one of THE most important essentials of being a good OWNER. Thank you, Mr. Krohn!

Well said. There has to be structure in the home and owners need to listen and keep that structure intact at home. Thanks Larry :)

Completely agree. I’m certainly not a professional when it comes to dog training. Yes, I’ve successfully taught my dog all of the basic commands. But when people want to know why my dog is so well behaved and trustworthy off-leash, it comes down to behavior, not obedience. We reinforced the good behaviors, and taught our sweet boy how to have good house manners. A strong and loving bond does wonders. Thanks for all of the knowledge you share with us! I learn a lot from you.

Next year April I will get my Ridgeback puppy. Don’t know if male or female, because males are bigger and weight more. But I am the one who makes the most work with this dog next year. I am afraid that don’t have enough muscle to hold the dog when it’s a male and not a puppy anymore. I searched for the best trainer near me that are well knowing about Ridgeback. We also had dogs, Dobermann, Labrador. But this time I really want to make things as good as I can, from the start on. So I can search the right puppy, male or femal. I work a few hours the week and my boss says ok for bringing the dog to work from puppy on. I have 4 weeks free from work when the puppy comes. So enough time to get him/she used to the new structure in hour home and how to behave at my work. With customers coming in and out. I watch a loooooot of your videos and learned a lot. But I can NOT exactly found a video on KZfaq how to introduce the puppy to work or coworkers. My breeder is very nice and I searched for her about 4 months to have a good breeder, that will also help me to find the right puppy. Sorry for my long text and maybe my bad English. I reeeeallllyyyyy would love to see more videos on what to do the first day/days/weeks/ with the puppy at home/outside.Before I get to start to train the dog with a trainer. What can I do at home specially the first weeks. Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪

i have a scared dog and was going to get a puppy but will the puppy learn to be scared from our current dog. i was going to adopt again but when a dog gets close to him he yelps and tries to run away that's why i thought getting a puppy would be better so he wouldn't get scared by it. I don't want it to grow up and learn from our current dog to be scared of other dogs.

BabyBearSS to me it seems that you should focus on working through your current dogs issues before you split your focus with a puppy.

I'll give you a thumbs-up just for the shout-out to your sexy wife. Also you do need to talk more about that 80/20 thing and adjust the behaviors that people are doing wrong in the home that are contributing to the bad behaviors from their dogs. I wanted to a lot of people tell me that dogs are their babies and they failed to give them boundaries these are my personal observations. And then my eyes is like parents who take out Toddlers and expect them to behave when they have no rules at home.

80/20 rule as in I’m the 80th like and you owe me $20, correct? Or was that a misinterpretation lol
