This car came to me with a starting issue...
The car would only start with the MAF (Air Flow Meter) disconnected... and would only drive properly that way...
Tests where done to make sure that the right call was made...

Nice video, have the exact same issues on my 99' 320i. Have the exact same symptoms/issue after changing my control arms the car wont start lol... everytime i fix something on this thing something else breaks. Car runs great with maf disconnected. Will order a VDO/siemens one. I subbed and liked thank you.

I had the same problem with my 320i changed maf sensor and it was fixed, a failed maf makes a full rich mixture

Great video. Well narrated thank you. Question: Mt Instrument cluster has pack up. I need to replace it. Do you or can you reprogram a new 93s56 eeprom from the original? I am not looking to change the mileage. I am just looking to replace the EEprom to a new cluster. I have already removed the eeprom from my Rover 75 CDTi. Many Thanks

Is it possible to take multimeter readings across the terminals on the good and bad units and then keep the readings for future use? I presume the readings would be well different

I believe, every MAF has electronics inside, that measures and sends the data as pwm/frequency output signal to the ECU, so this will be hard to measure with multimeter. Maybe, that the hot-wire (measuring part of sensor) failed but electronics is ok.

I had almost the same with my x3 m54. It misfired on cold start and read low and went into limp home at faster speeds. Took 3 eBay sensors to resolve.

They were all used genuine, cheapest first! So the final good one was only 30 pounds. I think the Air flow sensors are a weak point of the M54.

Do you have a sensor simulator? Inject signal and adjust until car responds well

@@LMAutoRepairs i would think unplug it no problem (the ecu will use other sensors and fill infor the maf )plug in and ecu will use data from maf all the wrong dafa and short fuel the engine no enrichment for accelerating or cold start and i think bmw ista tool led you down a rabbit hole so a win for autel top marks for the ebay seller good on them

For me is looking you really miss out , something initial, check the air mass flow sensor . I am a little bit disappointed on the way how you do lots of diagnostic which is really not necessary on this car !

32 minutes wasted just for a faulty maf sensor? U used to make much better content. Instead, you could show us how you installed that reverse camera, I bet it was more educational , no offence just my opinion

You are electric guy. Why you dont use multimeter and measure value on first maf? If is broken, normaly not send data about kg per hour.

The multimeter would only show half of the story... If you would have watched the video without skipping, you would see that the maf was actually giving some readings, just not the correct ones... 👍👍👍
