LMS 45627 Barks over the S&C on The Dalesman 12/8/21.

LMS 45627 Sierra Leone ( Galatea 45699 in disguise ) was at the helm of the latest Dalesman starting from York to Carlisle via the famous Settle and Carlisle Railway . 45627 is first seen at Selside Cottages going well with 13 on the hook. The return leg sees 45627 working hard at Stockber . Thanks to Nige for the company today .Apologies for the wobble or two on the second shot as the wind wobbled the tripod a few times .

Fantastic performance from 45699 Galatea.... they need to add some weight to the train though, as this is to easy! Love her piston waggle in the second shot! Some raw power there! Superb video 👏🏼

Yet another great classic from this 50037 channel and not even filmed at Shap or that wonderful location on the approach to Helm Tunnel! And that three cylinder rhythm really COULD have been composed by a man caled Ludwig!!!

You must forgive my ignorance here but what has 45627 got to do with this video, I am at a loss as to why you mention it, despite that this is a fantastic video and to see a `jub` pulling 13 coaches up any gradient is marvelous and shows the power of these locos, back in the 1950/60s when I was trainspotting you would never have seen this then, 13 coaches was usually double headed, it speaks volumes for the staff who maintain these magnificent locos, also a great thank you to all these loco drivers who obviously seem to get the best out of these splendid engines.

Thanks for the kind comment Terry , for some reason Carnforth have renamed Galatea or Alberta to Sierra Leone with smoke box number and name plates but not changed the cab numbers yet so that’s why I mentioned SL . Regards Steve

It's been great seeing the Jubilee whatsitsname working hard. I thought with Leander out and Bananas down south we were stuck with Scots and foreign steam. Lol. Great clips

2 good shots there Steve. For a change the wind was carrying the sound as the train approached instead of as it was going away

Very nice Steve. I'm keeping clear of Appleby and points East and South till the Horse Fair is over. I'm not a great fan of being held up for 15 minutes by a horse-drawn vehicle that will NOT pull aside. Twice in one day!!!

Thanks Austin, had a head on shot at Selside but it was a bit dark so didn’t use it and your right it can handle that load no problem .

You’ve lost me there as the smoke box number is 45627 and the nameplates are Sierra Leone but admittedly the cab number is still Alberta. Obviously this is Galatea 45699 in disguise
