I had the opportunity to ride the LMX63 e-MTB bike for a few days and I jumped on the offer as this bike give you the option between an e-MTB and some world where you can just open the throttle and enjoy endless power and fun on a MTB. You can ride the bike as a low support MTB where you have to work hard to get up and down the trails but you can also turn on all the power for an e-MTB experience that is totally different.
Most of the e-MTB's I tested all ride like a dream and there are a lot of technology built in but they mostly stop at 15.5mph. I know you can get them unlocked but that might void the warranty and this is where the LMX bike slots in like a glove. The price is also very good compared to the Specialized Turbo Levo, Orbea Wild FS, Whyte E-150 and the Haibikes.

Yes this would be true. You can buy a spare battery but its a large cunck of money. The base one should be good for a long ride if you not running it open taps.

Easy to fit and does not look that bad.

Hello. I saw this model as the holy grail for my needs. The discretion of the mountain bike and the throttle grip of the motorcycle. But after a first try, I found the assistance in pedaling mode very poorly managed. I can't find any progression according to the effort like on my other e-MTB. Don't you feel the same?

For me the bike is not as well tuned as the say Turbo Levo's and the other high end brands but for what you get is a bike that can be used for much more and this is what I like. Like you say its a e-MTB with a hidden gem of the twist throttle. Things that bugs me at this time and I think they are busy sorting it out is the chain that is very noisy and the belt does not last very long if you go for that option. The belt option for me is the sweet spot. Super quiet. If they can sort the longevity of it out then that is going to be a solid bike. Another thing is the weather sealing of the electronics. As far I understand the new ones are much improved compared to the unit I tested. The other bit is the configuration of the modes. This can be done but I understand it needs to be done with the help of your dealer. They can help you tune the bike how you like it. They dont have a easy to use app that you can tune the response of the motor. The pickup on the bike I had was fast but I got use too it quickly. Are you keen to buy one and what are you going to use it for?

Pretty interesting setup. The one that I had was testing was the earlier earlier builds with the gocart chain drive on the one side and the normal cycle chain on the other side. The nice thing is if the battery runs out there is next to no drag on the normal chain drive. The only thing that put me off a bit was the gocart chain was loud and the guys at bike parks will give you trouble for running a high powered bike. But the newer versions all come with a carbon belt drive that is super quiet and its also easy to maintain. I am looking to test one again as its a pretty epic bike for the price. A few notes to look out for is spares and warranty as its a smaller brand. Hope this helps and thanks for the comment.

I had the surron light bee and its a great bike but you cannot get away that its more an motorbike than an ebike. This bike I can go and ride on MTB trails without guys giving me trouble but then when monday comes I can get to work and back at a good pace. The new version has the uprated belt drive and this is even better. Way more quiet.

Awesome man and yes its allot of bike and power for the price. Its still allot of money but if you look at a Turbo Levo, the Wild FS or any of the other mid range bikes you start at about £5000. This one has way more power and the twist throttle makes it so much fun to just open the taps and have some fun. Yes the cold needs to stop now, I am ready for some spring. Ooh I dont think so, but then again if you reach out to the guys in France they might have an option for you. The main issue is going to be getting spares if something goes wrong. Pretty epic bikes. lmxbikes.com/en/homepage/

This one comes in at around £5000 the last time I checked and because its a French brand I would expect you guys can get hold of it much easier than we can here in the UK. lmxbikes.com/index.php/en/lmx-64-2/ There is also a LMX56 coming that looks like a beast of a bike. But worth sending the guys a mail to see if they have local dealers in Germany.

What’s the top speed using the throttle only?

The road version clocks out at 30mph as its classed as a moped and they are restricted to that speed. Many thanks for the comment and awesome bike.

Hi Fin, yes this is why I moved on from the SurRon. Dont get me wrong the SurRon is awesome but I cannot take that to the MTB track and ride it like a mad man or on the road. Where as the LMX as you say looks like a e-MTB and you can get allot more out of that. Also all the parts are really easy to get hold of as they are standard MTB parts. You also have all the upgrades to hand again as they are all MTB bits. The motor is also super punchy. Keep me posted.
