In Lockdown? Looking for a fun sewing project? Try our super-easy DIY tiered maxi skirt tutorial! The perfect i-sew-lation project to keep you busy whilst we are all sewcial distancing.
This tiered gathered skirt has only some minimal gathering, creating a lovely modern boho silhouette that will make a fantastic addition to your spring and summer wardrobe.
Use up your larger fabric scraps, raid your stash, or upcycle some under-used items in your wardrobe.
☑️ Learn how to calculate your tiers from your own body measurements, no pattern needed.
☑️ Learn how to gather on your sewing machine or your overlocker.
☑️Play with colour blocking and print clashing to create a design unique to you!
A fun quick sustainable project for all sewing abilities.
In addition to your sewing machine or overlocker and your fabrics, you will also need some elastic (ours was 2"/5cm wide) and a safety pin to help insert it.
(Rachel's fabrics are all old and have been in her stash for some time, so unfortunately there are no links available.)

I've watched this video three times now, and I'm so excited to make this skirt! I think seeing your skirt and the fabrics you chose really helped clinch the deal! It's so pretty and swooshy! 😍 I went and pondered fabrics yesterday (the store was open to a certain number of customers at a time, face masks required) and took pictures. I've just finished doing the math so I know how much of each to buy next week. Yay! 😁

I can't believe this!!! I am an absolute beginner. I followed one other channel yesterday but cut my fabric wrongly ( wrong measurements) ... I just watched the DIY Tiered Maxi Skirt video that Rachel posted. I love the skirt. I ALSO adore the blouse, and wonder if you have a pattern or offer a class for that? It's perfect for the skirt.

Does anybody know how to figure out the correct length for a maxi skirt? I think it would just be from the top of the hips to the ankles, then plus double the width of the elastic for allowance, right? I just want to make sure i'm getting the right amounts of fabric.
