Hi My Transportationsolutions - thank you for your comment and praise. According to the regulations, you are correct; however, trucking culture allows the unit to be used. Now other drivers may correct me, but even the log sheets say truck # as opposed to licence number. The licence plate is regulation, but the trucking industry uses unit numbers. Thanks again - if there's anything specific we can help with, drop us a note. All the best, Cheers Rick

How does it work for log books, if you aren't driving? I was told that after i first drove that I'm supposed to continue with keeping a log... so, does that mean that I just put down that I'm working (but not driving) continuously? [Work only has me drive the trucks occasionally] Does that also mean that I can leave the Unit number field blank, etc?

Hi Thane - Thank you for your comment and query. You can log several days on one log sheet. If you're working around the yard, you don't have to log that on a logsheet. The company will have your time sheet, and if the authorities want - they can look at that. So just log for the days you drive, and the days your are working in the yard, just put those dates in the date box and put a line through the "off-duty" part of the graph. If there is anything further we can do, drop us a note. Always happy to help. All the best, Cheers Rick

Arent those VIs spaced too far apart? Ie. Beyond the 3 hrs / 240 km rule??
@smartdrivetest
@smartdrivetest 5 жыл бұрын
Hi unhappy Gilmore - Thank you for your comment and query. The 3hr/240km rule is for enroute inspections, and often these are going to be less than 15 minutes and don't have to be logged or documented. You are required to log and filled out a pre-trip inspection sheet only once every 24 hours, when you switch off with another driver, or when you pick up new equipment. See this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/icBlfpN4xMq0no0.html&index=3&list=PL0x-bChcUvwGT2_auPlt-zmaRecuiaHhS If there is anything further we can do, drop us a note. Always happy to help. I work in drilling and we drive pickups, I've been told that if im driving a 3500 i don't need to run a log book but if I'm driving a 5500 duelly I do have to run a log book. I can't find any clear rules about what company pickups are considered commercial vehicles and need to run log books because most of this stuff seems to be focused on larger trucks. Any clarification would be great.

Hi ryan meana - Apologies for the late response. Thank you for your response. The lines between the hours are in 15 minute increments. Thus, you log to nearest quarter of an hour. Thank you for clarifying that information. If there is anything further we can do, drop us a note. Always happy to help. All the best, Cheers Rick
