Hugh Jackman took a pay cut just so the film could be rated R. He wanted this to be the real Wolverine and his swan song for the character.

Colette, my sympathies. My brothers and I took our dad to see this in the theater. We needed a break from taking care of mom. She had dementia and my sister took care of her that day. This movie was just so heartbreaking, as we saw mom in Charles. Mom passed away three years ago. We are now taking care of dad…

“What’s her gift, eating? Pipe throwing?” Never fails to get a chuckle out of me 😂 Also in case anyone who doesn’t speak spanish is wondering, she basically says “why would I talk to you when all you do is yell at me, insult me, and try to leave me behind” when she’s yelling at him in the car after he asks her why she’s been quiet this whole time.

That line I think shows he still has the wolverine attitude, snarky and impertinent, the same way He was when He first met Xavier and the X-men years back. It reminds me of what Logan said to him "What do they call you, wheels?" lmao

Cried for iron man? That's insane, crying for a character that we knew would die to create a false sense of emotions. His death was more pointless than Pa Kent in Man of Steel but recieves zero backlash because it's the goofy comedic MCU. On the contrary this death although inevitable was handled masterfully by the script writers and director.

The saddest part of the nice family dying is realizing its Charles' fault. Logan wanted to keep going from the moment they helped with the horses but Charles agrees for them to have dinner and then again says 'we can leave in the morning'....

Logan got mad when he read that business card because it said *Alkali* Transigen. If you recall from X2, Alkali Lake is where Stryker and the Weapon X program grafted the adamantium to his bones. So Logan knew immediately that it was the Weapon X program all over again but hiding under a different name, and his past had once again come back to haunt him.

@12:40 my mother (70) took care of her sister (80) when she developed dementia, her sister constantly abused her verbally and even lashed out physically at my mom, but mom stuck by her right up until her sister died the following year. At the funeral mom was very upset, 1) because her sister had just died, but 2) mom was upset at herself because she felt relief that her sister finally found peace and both of them did not have to go thru the suffering anymore. It was then i realized how hard it must have been for mom over the past year, and i made a solemn promise to myself to be there for her in the same way if she ever became a victim of dementia.... i just pray i am as strong as her.

A piece of information in the comics, Logan killed a bunch of x-men and heroes while being under a spell of mysterio … he was in a friendly base, instead of seeing friends he saw some villains and thought they had killed his friends so he went and attacked them one after the other… (but it was his friends x-men and hero’s) when he came back to himself he saw all the corpse of his friend that he just killed… he coudnt take it and tried to end is life… he pitted is head on a train rail and waited for the train to only survive it… as in the movie Charles killed many x-men and heures and people too due to is mental and physical illness … that’s what is supposed to come before the movie … (if I remember right they thought of doing it in the movie but it was a bit to heavy for a begening) that’s why Charles say Logan what have you done ! What have you done in the begening… and we learn it in the radio for Charles…

And there are several other movies between X-2, which I think is what you last watched, and this. But having said this, loved the reaction!!! Again, it was kind of cool that you weren't expecting this sort of film. Amongst the ones you haven't watched yet are Wolverine: Origins and The Wolverine, which are more like anyone would expect a wolverine superhero movie to be. Great palate cleanser for the sadness probably! Objectively worse movies than Logan though, what a trip.

Dafne Keen the amazing young actress who played Laura is the daughter of British Actor Will Keen and Spanish actress María Fernández Ache. Maria was Dafne’s chaperone on set, and in the scene where Laura and Logan have the fierce argument in the car the director encouraged both performers to ad lib. After the scene was filmed Hugh Jackman, who has a daughter of about the same age, felt a bit uncomfortable about shouting and swearing so much at a child so went up to Dafne’s mom to make sure Dafne was okay.. “Don’t worry” said Maria, “she called you a c**t three times in Spanish in that last scene”. 🤣🤣

Keep in mind when watching this movie Logan is not canon to the other Fox X-Men film continuity. This film takes place in an alternate timeline that was created after the events of Days of Future past. Iron Man Captain America both kill people. Spider-Man the only one who doesn't kill people but he has killed alien creatures. You should also know the adamantium does not run through Laura's entire body it only in her hands and feet. That's why Laura had to pull the bullet out with her teeth because the bullet got stuck in a bone in her arm. If you're wondering why Logan is going by James howlett that is his real name. If you don't remember in the wolverine movie his death was predicted. Logan would be lying down covered in blood holding his own heart in his hand.

Wolverine also has a more military view of situation just like Steve and Tony but Tony has a better capacity to kill through his technology. Steve can kill easier due to his self-righteous view of the world and his justification to kill when he deems it necessary which means Steve can kill easier than wolverine due to the fact that when wolverine kills one thought goes to his mind. Is his killing necessary because he's the best and what he do or is killing who Logan is because he's not very nice.

TransiGen probably thought that pulling a Jurassic Park and stopping Laura (X-23) from becoming male in the womb would make her easier to control relative to Logan. But mutants like her and Logan ( The Lupines) are all very cat like, (even though Lupine means wolf-Like) and the male lion might be in charge of the pride, but the females do a lot of the hunting, so she's a bit more relentless.

As a kid who first started reading comic books in the mid 80's, the X-Men was my favorite series, and Wolverine was one of my favorite characters. Only a handful of super hero movies have captured what comics books were in any meaningful way, and Logan is one of those finest efforts. First off, Wolverine was always an mature themed character, so having this movie be rated "R" was finally doing this character justice, and it did not go to waste. A movie like this was only possible because you had time over past movies to really know the characters and allow them to become family. This movie perfectly shows that most heroes rarely if ever have a happy ending, and it was all the better for showing that, and not holding anything back, this was a masterpiece.

Wolverine is one of THE BEST characters ever created! Seeing professor X in that state and being killed by a Wolverine look-a-like was extremely grievous. Depressing, yet such an amazing movie! 💯👍🏾

The people that wrote the plot for this movie AND the people that watched it when it first came out, we are still not okay..... EVERY SINGLE TIME.

I saw this in theaters and absolutely lost it when she changed the cross to an 'X'. I had to sit through the credits just to get my face dry and then took a long drive in a quiet car. Very few movies come anywhere close to hitting like that. Every scene gets the chance to breathe. Each character is given time to react and grow. Logan's apathy to Laura (and most everything else) is entirely believable. Just within the scope of this movie, Charles has hurt or killed hundreds of people and many of those close friends to both him and Logan. Logan must be furious, but can't channel that anywhere. Logan helps Charles because someone should and nobody else can. The very last thing anyone needs is a dangerous quest--even if it's to help children. The build up through this is spectacular. Like you, maybe, I can't quite saw that I enjoy this movie just because it's so heavy. However, I do hold this up as an objectively good movie. Well crafted story. Actors giving just amazing effort in their characters. A director trusting the audience to follow. It's an amazing production.

1:11:30 On his back, in blood, _with his heart in his hand._ Yukio was right after all in "The Wolverine" when she saw Logan's death, just his heart in his hand meant something a little different...

I know this is a deeply sad movie but your inclusion of the Mcguire "missed the part where that's my problem" made me wanna see a meme with him answering Xavier that and then doing the trademark dance outside the shack while soldiers are firing at it lol

A tear jerker. Dark, but I think a great sendoff for a hero we all loved for so long. It also introduced new mutants to possibly continue the legend. It ends for me here. Haven't seen any daredevil where they say Logan is back. The end of an era.

Great reaction! I think Logan and V for Vendetta are the best comic book movies.

Colette. Yes, it was dark, but perfect. The evil Wolverine was what Logan could have been and what they wanted him to be a no compassion killer. Logan was polar opposite. He had compassion and kindness. He was a dark and tortured soul, but he was a solider too. As a veteran I can see he experiences nightmare and has to deal with trauma of wars. To me this movie told us story through children. Who the children KNOW is a hero. Logan never felt he was a hero, but he was. They cut Logan's beard, they nurtured him back to health, the young boy holding the Wolverine toy. The looked up to him. Same with Charles to Logan...Charles was the father to Logan. Logan loved him like a father. He in turned wanted to do same for Laura, his daughter. Him telling her don't be what they made you was passing on his knowledge and not wanting her to experience same pain he did. Logan was thrown into fatherhood, but he did amazing. I know it isn't from this movie..but the line "you will die with your heart in your hand." Really hit home for me in this movie and having a daughter myself...she is my heart.

The best part about the movie after the awesome acting and making sure it had the R rating so it could be way more real instead of a fluff movie is that X-23 was already a well established character.

What I like so much about the Western genre is how much it’s steeped in reality. They’re often tragic, painful and evil. But much like life, there are these small moments of beauty in between all the tragedies we experience day to day. And if we are lucky, we have an opportunity to be there for the ones we love and be their hero. Sometimes in small moments, sometimes in big moments. The beauty of a western isn’t always a happy ending but being able to do something GOOD… one last time. 😢
