Күн бұрынSometimes what our productions need is a new sound and it’s so tempting to reach for presets we’ve used before, which have served our needs in the past. But sometimes, it’s more fun to make a brand new sound from scratch, perhaps looking to an unusual start point for new sonic foundations.
In this episode, Jono is making two new simple Sampler instruments from two Ultrabeat drum sounds. One is more obviously pitched than the other but by the end, two new instruments will have been made which are playable, loopable and ready to be unique elements within your productions.

A great hack for quickly tune the new sound is to record enable both the track with a reference sound and the new sound itself. Then one don’t need to toggle between the two tracks. It will also become clearer at the moment the pitch/tuning goes into «sync» with the other track when one plays them simultaneously.

Is it a good idea to set to snap to Zero Crossing in order to avoid clics?

Great question. It’s an excellent idea and with mono sound sources, it nearly always works. With stereo signals, what counts as a zero crossing on one side of the signal might not on the other side, so short fades can definitely help in those circumstances.

Hi Mike. That would absolutely work and is a good suggestion. It's an opportunity for a slice of good ear training to try to match pitches against other instruments - a Tuner is a nice way to check that what you're hearing is indeed bang in tune.

Looking forward to watching this later. Would it be possible to do a video on Flex Time, with an Accapella? Getting it on time as Ableton warp feature seems more suitable. Or am I missing something?
