Loki's inconsistent use of his magical powers is the best part of the show for me. For all the wrong reasons, of course, but always makes me smile.

Magic is just too powerful. So they done use it on this show aside from parlor tricks. Sylvie should be able to rip Timely's body apart at any given moment but she uses a machete instead ...

Nothing can top Multiverse of Madness. Wanda - cuts her feet on glass, and then walks with a zombie limp so she can chase-not-catch save me girl Chavez. Uhm...bizzatch you can FLY!!!! Member?! 🤣

Missing from MOM - the scene where she telekinetically lifts Strange and tears his body to pieces. [Reign Fire!] - Strange. Uhm, to whom are talking Strange, the writers? - Wanda. 🤣

I think that I interpreted Timely’s character was that he isn’t smart. He has the TVA manual which allows him to e technologically ahead of his time. But anything that he tries to create on his own ultimately fails because he doesn’t fully understand how any of the inventions really work. In the same way that Biff isn’t smart, he just has the answers from the Sports Almanac. But maybe I read that wrong.

Timely merely reverse-engineered the TVA instruction manual. So Ouroboros is the real cosmic genius.

having read one of the older comics depictions of Kang I was really excited when he was announced as the new bad. My excitement dwindles with every appearance.

I actually liked the first season more so far. It had a clear storyline and already reminded me of retro Doctor Who. This season feels muddled and doesn’t have the same production values. I suspect the series is floundering with a draconian budget cut.

I didn't understand why Victor Timely said, "I can't carry out my visions because technology hasn't caught up yet," because if everyone had that mindset we would literally be stuck in the dark ages. He literally engineers technology, he can catch himself up to the standard he needs. I guess this show is going for the fact that this variant of Kang isn't actually a genius but a stooge, because he literally feels like a stooge rather than an ultimate villain. I didn't really care for this episode for that reason alone, he didn't feel like a character but a plot device. His monologue about "having his own heart" didn't ring true for me cause he wasn't a full fledged character that felt like he had a heart. And thank you, I also hated the Miss Minutes weird obsession with having a body. It was going down a weird self-objectifying road that you'd think an all-knowing AI would be above (like what is this, Weird Science?).

Exactly. That's what was frustrating. He'd say one thing but his actions would prove otherwise. It was very backwards.

This season of Loki, so far, feels like 90% of all the Disney+ Marvel shows. It was filmed as a movie, cut up in the editing room, and presented as an episodic TV show. It all feels disjointed and disconnected, and if you haven't done your homework (watched other shows in the MCU), you'll be lost.

As a student of acting it is difficult for me to judge Mr. Majors' choice of interpretation. Perhaps it was his choice or that of the director. I can't imagine the immense pressure he has on his back to play such a character which is Kang. A bit like you say, Majors was probably inspired by Forest Gumb to interpret this version of Kang. Sometimes we actors make choices that are refused to us by the director. Maybe Majors had another idea in mind who knows. It will be interesting to hear Majors vision of the character. How does he imagine it? But the Loki episodes remind me of the old series Where is Carmen Sandiego LOL. With all these temporal pursuits

Excellent feedback. I really don’t know what to think about Loki Season two, but you nailed it on the entertaining aspect, because it absolutely is. I don’t have a stake in the game, I watch to be entertained rather than because I’m invested in a much larger story like the films before End Game. I also agree the choice to swindle people made no sense. I mean, if I’m an inventor trying to be taken seriously, why would I tarnish my own reputation so thoroughly and completely? Though, maybe the swindles were to fund his research? But that, too, wasn’t explained so it’s just a guess, but paradoxical because if I cheat you by selling you a bad invention, why would you trust me enough to invest in another of my inventions? On his ‘stutter’ I couldn’t agree more on his performance, This is a clear case of less would have been more, rather than the over abundance of exaggerated slow speak with dramatic pauses. Lastly, loved your mention of the short romance, it was definitely comically brief.

Hey, Alachia! I really enjoyed the period setting and shifting allegiances in this episode but I agree that Majors' choice of vocal cadence was just weird. I didn't even realize he might have been compensating for a stutter! He toned down the pauses after the demonstration so I guess he made a choice to crank it up in order to show how he copes with the stress of public speaking. I liked his Frederick Douglass hair-do, though! Lol. I believe he is a bright inventor because he was tinkering as a boy when Ravonna slipped him the book in 1868. I interpreted his stage show and the paying off of the plant as being forced into hucksterism because the tech he's cobbled together is too sophisticated to integrate with 19th-century systems. Therefore, he's forced to put on colorful, theatrical light shows to fleece gullible investors into financing his real work like the pruning baton and the prototype of his multiversal vessel. That sphere he held up was a miniature model of his spherical craft from "Quantumania"! As for Miss Minutes' jealousy, there's plenty of precedent of AI becoming possessive of their creators and/or wanting more autonomy. "Agents of SHIELD" had a whole season about it! "Megan" is a recent example. Lol. I liked all the Grandfather paradoxing that's going on with Ouroboros' manual influencing Victor before he creates the TVA. Sylvie is a tiresome and frustrating character but at least she showed some humanity this time in sparing Victor. However, dumping Ravonna in Kang's sanctum might not have been the smartest place to leave her nemesis! He Who Remains probably had a ton of goodies tucked away there!

I like the show. There’s probably only 6 episodes again. Then a several year break. So I agree: it’s slightly frustrating getting the plot drip drip dripped. When clearly there isn’t much show left and so in the end… what’s gonna happen really? Last season we learned so much about the TVA & Kang. Now, what’s really happened that we didn’t already know from the trailers?? And it’s almost over!!

For some reason is getting really hard to get into the MCU after endgame. I've seen like 2 episodes of must tv shows and I never really feel attracted to go on theatres to see the movies. Spiderman was honestly bad and Doctor Strange just felt disjointed.

Even without all the drama behind Majors, this performance was the death knell to my interest in MCU... And Disney+. It just all felt amateur, and I wonder if the reason for the delayed showing wasn't because they had to re-write the shows to actually start a re-boot of the character/actor. I want to finish the show as my kids are still into it (like Doctor Who), but as you can see by how late my comment is, I am struggling to work up the interest to watch this. Which is crazy as Loki was one of the best characters, and I love Owen Wilson"s Mobius. I even thought Sylvie in the First season had more interesting and conflicted arc. So much wasted potential. And like you - I can't get over bow they could let the stutter performance in.

Sorry for being late to the party. I have to agree with you on a lot of parts of this episode. 1) Victor's studder was so annoying and a very bad con man. 2) Yeah 20 seconds for that relationship. I think she says something like we can be partners and he was like nope. 3) Miss Minutes this all-powerful AI (Oh nice accent you did on her) comes out as the psycho girl that wants a body so they can be together and do the nasty. You would think this AI all powerful could just make a body for herself or have someone make one for her in the TBA. 4) Sylvie I found confusing. One she wants to live life and not be bothered and Loki saying you kill this guy, and it goes away and she's like I don't care I kept scratching my head. Only part I liked was when Sylvie kicks Renslayers to the end of time, I was like oh yeah and she see the dead body Kang I was like hell yeah that's what you get but when Miss Minutes shows up and says I have a secret, but you are not going to like it I did a face palm because I'm sure she's a female version of Kang. Makes you go hummmmm.

My issues with Kang go way back... A character whose super powers are a suit of plot armor... This villain is a walking mess of time paradoxes, excused by janky time travel gimmicks that either sparingly work or not for the sake of plot forward. And the hardcore fans excuse it with just "welp, if you dont get it, you dont get it, there will always be Kang"...that's not an explanation, that's the lack thereof one.

I don‘t get why the majority of viewers praise J. Majors performance as Kang/HWR/etc. For me there is neither the sensation of a threat nor a convincing portrayal of a character behind the acting fassade. Most the time I just wonder how another, better actor could show as a great Kang. 😢

I complain so much about the writing in these terrible MCU shows that it’s starting to bore me. And I LIKE being angry and hyperbolic about genre things. This time imma focus on the cinematography. I think the production design of this show is generally good, but I’m struggling with this color palette. The TVA is drab. Chicago is drab. And the DP made the choice to shoot this whole episode practically in the dark. It’s just ugly to look at. Couple that with the lack of care given to the story and the characterization and it just makes this show not a pleasant watch. Oh and I saw another comment where someone mentioned Loki’s inconsistent use of his powers and I can’t even get started thinking about that or I’ll drink myself into oblivion. I love your channel. Keep up the great stuff.
@Alachia

I know what you mean about the color palette... I hate the orange brown bureaucratic feel of the TVA. I didn't mind the Chicago night scenes but I think it's because I've been watching some other shows where it's even darker and harder to see. The world's fair lights actually made it possible to see more in the dark

I'm sorry, Alachia, but after watching the first minutes of your review I had to check out. That's not because of you as you are a great reviewer and my favorite non-redpill KZfaq culture channel. Instead, it is because this show sounds so confusing and so convoluted and so BORING. I just can't be bothered. As you are describing my mind just loses complete focus. Loki is not what I want out of the MCU. You and other people who are still giving the current MCU a chance you are to be commended. I personally hope that nothing comes from the MCU for at least two years after they drop the god-awful sounding Echo in one giant dump (in every meaning and slang use of that word). Disney Marvel needs to give it a rest.

Without watching the show, and from listening only to your description of it, it sounds like some black kid wrote four scripts between 1989 and 2009 and from these every single successful Hollywood production until now either lifted its story directly, or pilfered novel ideas, or are even about the guy. The hostile and despising attitude of these shameless thieves, who can never mimic the genuine article, manifests by portraying the individual in an insulting fashion, predicated upon the inconvenience that having discovered the theft, he no longer offers up material to exploit. The slowness may be the way they see his level and quality of output. The accusation of chicanery, is like some prompt to get him to try to prove himself and give them more. It sounds like nothing but a long and inadvertent confession that Hollywood has always relied upon the downtrodden to prop itself up. Think of the old days when they'd promote some pretty starlet, having her sing in those early talkies, when behind the scenes, some indigent black girl is the true owner of that voice. The second the starlet tries to go it alone, everything falls apart. This reincarnated quasi-genius, may simply allude to the generational theft of talent of the kind that gave us Star Wars perhaps, or The Matrix, well known blockbusters or whatever bits and pieces are of value in the MCU.
