Stories like Loretta Lynn's just don't happen any more. That part of Americana is gone. Loretta never changed with fame her talent was immense her song writing ability as good or better than anyone. She is a true gem a once in a lifetime American treasure.

She's what my Granny would have called, "a little spitfire," and I wouldn't want to be the unlucky woman caught trying to take her man! Most of the songs Loretta wrote, especially early in her career, she based on events in her personal life. I love to hear her sing, and her duets with Conway, are second to none.
@LindaMethod
@LindaMethod 9 жыл бұрын
Yes she is! I sure would not want to tangle with her. Yes, she did sing of events in her own life and her relationship with Doo. She's one of the most talented singers that's ever graced the Grand Ole Opry stage, in my opinion.

When you go back to watch and listen to the artists in the distant past, their talent is undeniable. Not only was Loretta Lynn an amazing songwriter with unparalleled vocal ability, she was absolutely beautiful. She didn’t need pounds of make up, crazy hairstyles or outrageous wigs, plastic surgery to be attractive. She also relied on her voca talent for success, rather than taking her clothes off or wearing immodest clothing. Society needs to reevaluate some of the changes that helped us get to such a dark place. Turning back the clock in some areas of our culture would be greatly beneficial.

Eastern Kentucky has a very unique accent and a very unique way of pronouncing words. My mom sounds just like Loretta when she talks. Borrow drops the ow at the end and puts the long e sound. Special is pronounced as spatial. Hollow drops the ow at the end and adds er so is pronounced holler, the same as if we are yelling. Fire is pronounced far, tired is tarred, chair is cheer, right here is rye cheer, etc. There are hundreds more unique to this area of Appalachia.

I wonder sometimes if a few of today's country gals fake the accent. Loretta's accent and pronunciation (Hard rhymes with tired and bar with hair), was pure authenticity on top of classic regional beauty and superb song writing and voice. It was released in 1966 and peaked at #2 on Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart... The song was track one of side one from her album of the same name; and on November 12th, 1966 the album reached #1 {for two weeks} on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart... I have loved "Loretty" since I was a little kid...grew up listening to her in the truck with my Dad (on 8 track) or on vinyl in the living room. Then, of course, the movie "Coal Miner's Daughter" made me feel like I knew her, ya know :0)? She is the sweetest, prettiest, most delightful lady in country music!!
