Nikki loved your reaction when Jin spoke with his father and when he joined Michael. I don’t care about how you feel about most characters but if you didn’t come around to Jin, an actual cinnamon roll like Hurley, I would be sad. Hope you and Suraj see the comment about why Sun’s skin exposure is a sensitive topic.

One could speculate that Jin was being controlling of Sun because he was afraid of what could happen now that they had been out of civilization. You have to realize that as far as he knew, neither of them spoke English and suddenly they found themselves stranded on an island with a over 40 strangers. There's no way to know how long they would be there, what kind of people they were stuck with or how quickly things could descend into chaos. Him constantly telling her to cover up was probably the only action he could think of to prevent any potential creeps on the island from getting any ideas. It might not make any difference, but it's stil something and he has to try. Clearly, he could have communicated that better, but as we see now, the two of them aren't exactly great at communicating. As far as calling her "ugly," I feel like that might have just been misconstrued. They had just survived a plane crash and he basically said she looked like shit. It's not the wisest thing a man should ever say to a woman, but he wasn't intending to call her ugly.

This where Jin became my favorite character. But watch the "boat" scene again. He wasn't trying to bond with Michael or join the group. He was pissed off and wants to GTFO. That's what I thought when I first watched the episode. His wife (whom he loved, feared he losing and was trying to get close to again) kept a MAJOR secret from him. This wasn't like she was learning French from a language course just because and sprung it on him at a fancy restaurant. Shlearned fluid English...and kept it secret on an island full of English-speaking crash survivors. It would have been very helpful. Maybe she could have played off learning English to help them on their trip to America...if she'd told him right away,but Sun waited until she had to speak up. And Sun made Jin look like a fool. That's what drove him away.

I love how Walt immediately starts trying to put the fire out when he sees his dad is going to do something to Jin. I think he realized he'd made a mistake and didn't want someone else getting in trouble for it. Also a fun little thing a lot of people don't notice.. Hurley's music has been the outro to every episode, and now it dies just in time to lead into HIS episode.

There will never come a time when I watch this episode and dont start bawling with "I was going to leave you!" and "I was... ashamed of you." It's hard to see in this first season, but this show would not be NEARLY as emotional without Jin and Sun.

The best thing about this show is you end up liking pretty much every character in the show. Except for walt and claire for the most part

"Boat."❤ I love Jin so fuckin much, like my body barely contains the love I have for this precious man. And his dad? 😭❤ I still remember wanting to hate Jin at the very beginning because of so many things that were out of context. But I was like ok but why is getting everybody fish if he's this bad guy? How come him and Hurley are so fuckin cute together? How come this how come that, and then I saw this episode for the first time and I was done. From here on out, every layer that gets pulled back just makes you love him more. Jin will always be precious to me.

Coming back to these reactions as I'm rewatching the show in the lead-up to the anniversary of the finale and it feels like a lifetime ago. Rana isn't on the island yet 😅💕
